About Mrs. Hummingbird

One Week…

June 21st, 2008 @ 5:26 pm by Mrs. Hummingbird

After months and months of organizing and planning and crafting and blogging (I started on this blog way back in September, I’m such an old timer!), I am officially one week out from my wedding.

I’m feeling many things right now. I’m excited. I’m happy. I’m nervous. But mostly, I’m in disbelief.

For so much of our planning, the wedding has felt like this incredibly hypothetical thing. We were doing and buying things for it, but there always seemed to be a buffer of time that kept me thinking, “There’s still time, there’s still time.”

But you know what I realized last night in the middle of what I hope was our last wedding emergency *Miss Hummingbird knocks on her own wooden head*? There is so not time anymore.

Tonight is our bar night (woot!) and then I work for two and a half days before I head out to the country site we’re getting married at to do the last minute set up stuff and then . . . then everything we’ve been working for, everything we’ve been living towards, happens.

Because the place we’re getting married at still has dial up internet (crazy, right?), it might be tricky for me to blog after Wednesday, but I’ll try my absolute best to jam in as much Hummingbird wedding goodness before the big day including:

1) A full detailed account of tonight’s drunken debauchery.
2) Pictures of my parents’ 1981 wedding (my mom has a perm!)
3) What our programs look like.
4) What I am planning to do the night before the big day.
5) My secret present to Mr. Hum.
6) The weird thing that happened two years before I met Mr. Hum.

Anyway, I’ve got to go get ready for everything, but cheers to the ladies in the hive! You guys have been such a support to this wedding planning orphan, so tonight I toast to your honour.

XOXO,
Miss (soon to be Mrs.!) Hummingbird

P.S. Congratulations to my fellow Canuck Weddingbee Miss Flamingo, who is getting married to her mister today! Bonne chance aujourd’hui mon ami!

Hah, I could’ve written this post myself - I know EXACTLY what you mean about a hypothetical event becoming reality. I’m getting married a week from tomorrow! Enjoy your last week of planning… It’s surreal, isn’t it?

Congratulations! I’m still in the “It’s only four months away!” vs FH’s “But we’ve still got four months!” stage. :-) Have a wonderful last week, and BREATHE!

I second Mrs. Penguin’s advice to find time to relax. Schedule it in if you have to…
