Winery Wedding in Pennsylvania

June 22nd, 2008 @ 11:25 am by Mrs. Snow Pea

During our hunt for a unique wedding venue, I was incredibly envious of the west coast brides such as Mrs. Penguin with numerous choices for a gorgeous winery wedding. We looked into wineries in New Jersey, but for one reason or another it never worked out. They just didn’t have the appeal as California wineries. Mr. Snow Pea and I took a day trip to Bucks County, PA and were delighted to find wineries that were not only gorgeous, but easy to get to and had flexible event packages.

Crossings Winery, Washington Crossing, PA where we had a wine tasting.

I spoke to the event coordinator and they have flexible packages for small intimate dinner parties to weddings for up to 250+. There are several rooms or areas you can use including this Barrel Room which was pretty awesome.

New Hope Winery, New Hope, PA. A very romantic, quaint town that Mrs. Bellpepper introduced us to. Easily accessible from 95.

Sand Castle Winery, Erwinna, Pa. A little further out, but only an hour from Edison, NJ and 1.5 hrs for NYCers and accessible via 78. The rolling hills of PA in the background for your wedding would be breathtaking!

Crossings Vineyard is in such a beautiful location! But they only let us drink their wines if we had our wedding there. Maybe this is normal for winery weddings though?

Having a wedding at a winery to me sounds like an excellent idea! Crossings Vineyard looks beautiful and elegant. I wish there were more vineyards/wineries in New York with such an appeal.

@Loella: There are wineries in the Hudson Valley area. I know the New Paltz area has some good ones.

@rebecca: I would say so. The wines we tasted there were wonderful and they had many choices, so I don’t think there would be a problem. They also pair their wines with the food as well.

And I am so jealous of all you East Coast brides for all the amazing historical locations you have to choose from!! It’s funny how the grass always seems greener on the other side. :)

I wanted to get married at the Crossings so badly!! Unfortunately, it was way more than we wanted to spend…(plus a whole lot of work)

we were just at sandcastle yesterday and did their barrel tour - you got to taste the same wine from different years to learn how it evolves - it was fun! pretty view of the vineyard from the “castle”. the wine isn’t bad - it’s apparently hard to grow red grapes in this climate so they have mostly whites.

I just got married in Bucks County over the weekend. =) I may need to check out some of these wineries for some wine tasting since my family lives there.
