A while ago, I blogged about our plans for a combined bachelor/bachelorette pub night. Well Saturday was the big day . . . of drinking!
Mr. Hum and I started the night at one of our favourite Toronto restaurants - Hernando’s Hideaway. Unfortunately, our Best Man and Matron of Honour were unable to join us as planned, but we had a great Mexican meal and reminisced about all of our special Hernando’s moments. It was there that Mr. Hum told me how he was planning on proposing to me and there that we celebrated with our parents the day after the big proposal, so being able to go one last time before the wedding was really great. Plus, I got to have guacamole! Score!
Then, after dinner, we hit the road and scooted down to one of our other favourite haunts, The Library Lounge. Mr. Hum started to frequent the Library back when he still worked at the Eaton Centre. It’s a little hole in the wall around Yonge and Dundas Square and we thought it was a good pick because it was pretty central.
This actually worked out well in that not only was it easy to get to, but as it turns out, kind of appropriate because the Square was host to Video Games Live that evening!
For those of you who have never heard of it before, Video Games Live is actually a concert where a live symphony orchestra plays the music from video game themes combined with lasers, lights, and a live interactive video game performance. I didn’t really get to see much of it myself because I was mingling with our guests, but a bunch of people stopped to watch on their way over to our bar night or watched parts of the performances from the rooftop patio. Totally the perfect thing to accompany our geeky little celebration.
We had about two dozen people filter in and out over the course of the evening and then, at the end of the night, the remaining eight of us headed up to Fran’s, a 24 hour diner on College Street where we all capped off the evening with a big greasy breakfast (this was of course my idea because I plan everything around food).
It was a long night since we started everything around 6PM and rolled in the door of our apartment at 3AM, but it was definitely a night to remember.
What did you do in terms of pre-wedding festivities? Did you go to a bar? Did you hit a club? How did you celebrate with your friends?
As a special treat for you gamer girls out there, here is a little clip from Video Games Live in concert. They are playing some music from Halo, which I thought was appropriate since Mr. Hum and I are entering our reception to Halo music.
