Would Tim Gunn Approve?

June 24th, 2008 @ 2:54 pm by Mrs. Candy Corn

I bought my outfit for our bridal shower from Anthropologie over the weekend, and then immediately felt guilty for spending so much money since my wallet is only used to dishing out money for dresses from H&M or Target.

I couldn’t find these items on the Anthropologie website, but I really dig the vintage flair the two pieces have. The bird pin came with the wee sweater, which I thought was precious.

Here’s a full length photo of me in all my 5’2 glory (I need some matching navy heels…I have a feeling I’ll be browsing Zappos soon). I can’t believe our shower is less than two months away! I can’t wait to reunite with old friends and family and see what my awesome maid of honor, Melanie, has in store for us.

Speaking of our shower, we received our first gift in the mail the other day from my lovely godparents!

Mmmmm, pretty Martha Stewart Collection Blue Enameled Cast Iron Round Pot

They also bought us the Martha Stewart Collection Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, which was backordered *suspense!*Marrying Mr. CC seems like a huge gift on its own, so now that we’ve started to receive tangible objects in the mail from our guests, it just seems so surreal. I’m so thankful to have such an amazing support system in our lives.Is anyone else just completely overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude and excitement? We haven’t even had our shower yet, but I just don’t know how to thank everyone enough.

I hear ya! I felt those feelings of “gratitude and excitement” beginning early on in the planning process, as friends and family all offered their support and excitement throughout. And believe me, those feelings are a million times more intense on your wedding day! I couldn’t stop crying the whole weekend of our wedding because of all the love and warmth I felt surrounding us.

Yes, gifts were icing on the cake and it was lovely to get box upon box in the mail (one month later, we’re still receiving registry gifts!), but it was more about the intangibles we received from people that really made my heart swell!

I agree, he would definitely approve. That turquoise blue is gorgeous on you!

Also, did you ever think of wearing red heels to pick up the red flowers in your dress? I’m just a red shoe fiend so I’m always trying to push that on people :)

@Miss Margarita:

I think we are long lost lovers. I heart the red shoe trend thanks to Stacy and Clinton of What Not to Wear! I think I may just have to rock that. haha <3

@Erin:

Thanks so much, and yes, it is way to blinking
expensive there…even the sale section is like YOWZERS.

@indecisivebride:

Yay to Tim Gunn references!! :)

@mtyf:

Awwww I’m going to be a weepy mess on the day of the wedding haha. I swear I didn’t intentionally match our Martha gift…well not entirely anyway hehe.

I also spoiled myself with Anthropologie for my wedding shower. I got the bright yellow halter dress and wore adorable blue strappy shoes (another guilty Anthropologie pleasure!) I have promised myself that my affair with that place is now over!!

Good job treating yourself! It’s totally worth it!

But the Anthropologie near Rittenhouse Sq is so hard to resist! It’s such a gorgeous building … and I drag my college friends there everytime I’m in Philly.

Btw … the clearance section does have a lot of really great finds. I got a $90 blouse for $20 once, and my friend just went crazy and bought a sweater dress, sweater coat, a blazer, and new skirt for a less than $100 total. I usually tear through the clearance section looking for sneaky deals.

I also second the red shoe recommendation … especially if it has a quirky design like a peep-toe or really big bow or chachkis.

Hi Miss Candy Corn. I am hoping you can tell me who makes your glasses… they are really cute and exactly what I am looking for! Thanks.
I love the entire outfit, and it is totally ok to splurge for wedding related items… just go back to target post wedding!
