Double Wedding Weekend

June 25th, 2008 @ 1:40 pm by Mrs. Jasmine

This weekend, Mr. Jasmine and I have a double helping of vows, cake, and dancing to look forward to. We have two weddings to attend: one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Thankfully, they’re both in the same city! I’ve never attended two weddings in one weekend before, but I look forward to enjoying all the festivities– as a guest :)

Have you ever attended more than one wedding in a weekend?

I’m picturing you and Mr. “Jazz” as the wedding guests version of the character at the beginning of 27 Dresses. Hehe!

Oh boy–did we ever. Last July we had a double whammy weekend. On Saturday I was a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding in MA. The next day on Sunday we woke up at 5am and drove up to Woodstock VT for FI’s childhood friend’s wedding. We were exhausted but it was worth it since both are such good friends.

About four years ago, I had two friends getting married on the same day. I went to one’s ceremony in the morning and the other’s that afternoon. And it was also my brother’s birthday! I had to skip the reception for the first wedding though, since the second ceremony was at the same time.

We had a Saturday a couple of years ago where we had 2 weddings in one day. (Actually I had a college friend getting married that day as well, but [un]fortunately we were not invited to that one.) It was a long day. We had to skip the reception at the first wedding to make it to the second, when we got our dinner there they had the smallest portions of food I’ve ever seen! Needless to say we ravaged a gas station on our way home that evening.

Because of this experience, we will be having a buffet dinner at our wedding…leave no guest hungry!

Last summer, we attended a friend’s wedding on a Saturday afternoon at a fancy clubhouse just a few blocks from our house. The very next morning, we went back to the exact same clubhouse for a client’s wedding! The weddings were completely different, so it was actually very interesting to see and feel the difference between the two. It was quite the weekend!

In a few weeks, I have my cousin’s wedding and a close friend’s wedding on the same night. I have found a way to get to both ceremonies, part of one reception and the end of another, but I would prefer to be able to enjoy both! I know that I am going to be exhausted the next morning… but Mr. Peacock’s mom picked that day for my (brunch!) shower. I will be doing my best to be perky.

Last year we had two double weddings. Both were Saturday and Sunday weddings. On one of of the weekends, my FI was a GM in the Saturday wedding and I was a BM in the Sunday wedding. That Saturday, I had to go from the rehearsal dinner of the Sunday wedding and drive an hour to go to the wedding that my FI was in, leave at a decent hour and wake up and get ready with the rest of the bridal party the next morning.

This year, we have a wedding the day before us on the Friday, our wedding on the Saturday and another wedding on the Sunday. We’re going to attend the Friday wedding and our own. *phew*

I haven’t been to a wedding since my own (which was 6 months ago), so I’m looking forward to going to one in August.

I wonder how different it feels to be a married guest.

going to 9 weddings this summer. one of them is in ny on a saturday, and then another one the next day (AT 11 AM!!!!) in new jersey. it’s gonna be a long but fun summer!!! (especially the double wedding weekend!) one tip: wear different dresses to each during your double weekend (even if the attire calls for the same kind) so that each wedding feels like a completely separate and lovely affair! (trust me, ive been to a zillion weddings, many in the same weekend!!)

I WISH I had two weddings to attend in one weekend, instead of having to fly cross-country to NY three separate times in the spring/summer for friends’ weddings. While I love them to bits, I’m in grad school and am BROKE. Plus we have our own wedding to fly to in December! Better start cashing in those frequent flyer miles…

My fiance’s brother got married last year on the same day as my best friend. The brother’s wedding was in Louisiana, my BF’s in upstate NY!!! I was not a happy camper…I really wanted to be at both. But we were each in one wedding.

Last summer, I went home to DC for a week for 3 weddings! I had a wedding on Saturday, the next Saturday and the following Sunday.

The 1st Saturday wedding was in northern Virginia and the 2nd Saturday wedding was in Annapolis MD. FI and I then woke up at 6am (after going to bed around 1am) to drive to Charlottesville VA for a Sunday day wedding. After the wedding, we left C’Ville around 3pm to drive back to NYC!
