About Me: I recently moved to Canada from Southern California. Trying to plan a wedding in a new city, not to mention a new country, is tough, but the fact that we can get legally married here more than makes up for it! The wedding will be an opportunity for most of our family and friends to see our new city for the first time so it will be both a wedding and a reunion. Besides my future wife, I am also madly in love with a good bargain, Swedish pastries, Tivo, and my two dogs and calico cat (in no particular order).
The Gingerbreads on (Makeup) Trial

Monday was a crazy day that involved visiting our ceremony venue, picking up a photo printer for our faux photo booth, doing our makeup trial and getting our engagement photos taken. We hadn’t originally planned on engagement photos, but it seemed like a good way to practice before the big day and get comfortable with the camera. Before I get into the details of the photo shoot and show you a bunch of pictures, I’ll tell you about the makeup trial.
We went to Beauty Mark in Yaletown. They charge $35 (per person) for makeup application in store and $80 if they come to your house. Jacqueline did both of our make up. I’ve never seen Miss GB 2.0 with makeup on and she was a little freaked out about being made up. I think Jacqueline did a great job keeping her natural looking and Miss GB 2.0 was very comfortable with what was done. I’m not a big makeup wearer either. When I do wear makeup, my makeup routine is usually black eyeliner and some random lipstick. I told Jacqueline that I wanted dramatic eyes. Once the makeup was applied, we rushed home to change clothes so that we could head out to take photos with Carlton and Aki. I didn’t even have time to snap a photo of us after the makeup trial. I’ll just show you a couple of Carlton’s photos to give you an idea of what we looked like (and I’ll post more of the engagement photo shoot in another post).
Seeing the last photo is a good reminder to put "buy lipstick" on my list of things to do. Clearly, I could use a reapplication in the last photo. Any recommendations for lipstick? Any other gentle, loving suggestions about the makeup?

Wow! Both of you have flawless skin!! What foundation did Jacquelin use? The only thing I would add is blush with staying power–maybe something liquid or gel based. In your first photos it’s perfect, but, like your lipstick, barely noticeable in the last. Overall though you both look beautiful!!

Keeping a tube of lipstick handy is a good idea, and maybe a bit stronger blush, but overall, I think you both look fantabulous! I would not be worried!

You both look great. I love the makeup on both of y’all. I will recommend Aveda lip gloss as something to try. I love it and it’s not sticky like normal lip gloss. On the topic of blush, I love Bobbie Brown’s shimmer bricks. They come in a couple of different shades and are very natural looking when used as blush. They aren’t too shimmery looking either. No suggestions on makeup, Miss GB, just wanted to pop in and say WOW — you are both gorgeous, and those pictures made me a little teary! You both look so smitten and happy and in love. Hurray! i can’t wait to see more of them!

I had to look back at the first picture to see that your lips were a different color. I’d go w/a good lip liner and a gloss. Lip liner will stay for a very long time and gloss will add shine but you have a beautiful natural lip color, so even if it comes off, you will look gorgeous. lovely pictures!

I think the makeup looks great. Very natural looking. The most important thing is that you both are comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is the lipstick which you have already mentioned. Can’t wait to see more pictures!

Beautiful AND Natural looking!! Kudos to yall for natural beauty and woohoo for the make up chick doing a good job! Because of your (beautifully) dramatic eyes, make sure you don’t go too dark on lipstick, but something with a little color will look great. The only thing I might suggest would be MAYBE a little more blush for you (not rosy cheecks!) just for a little structure definition. Again - NOT REQUIRED! But as a possibly helpful suggestion. And the last picture makes me think that just a tich (thats smaller than a touch!) of color or lip liner to Ms GB 2 might keep her top lip from being lost in some pictures. eek! So cute! Can’t wait to see more!

GB2.0 is a hottie I really like how they did her makeup- was she ok with it? I think her eyes would pop even more if there was a little more liner, but even as it is now it looks great. You look fantastic! Did you like that lipstick color or did you want to go for a rosier brown - the lipstick color you have looks more reddish purple. I can recommend some MAC lipstick shades in both those colors if you’d like- I swear by MAC, it never wears off!

miss purple I have no idea what she used on us, which is my only complaint. But we are going back for our wedding day makeup! I’ll have to go else where for my makeup education. Maybe I’ll hit up MAC for some lipstick that Thea T recommends.

my only tip for getting lipstick to stay put is to use lipliner over your entire lip first…that’s always seemed to work for me.
other than that, wow…you two are absolutely beautiful and the look you’re giving each other in the 2nd pic is super sexy. incredible pictures and beautiful brides!

You two look great. Try Rimmel London’s lipsticks. Light & not gummy - some types they have are sheer & lovely with a little sparkle, but not annoyingly so.
You’re hot It’s weird sorta but I like the natural lip on you a little more. Maybe it’s that kissed off look.. or I’m just into the dramatic smokey eye with a nude lip combo
You both look beautiful! Both of you have that perfect-flawless-looks-really-natural-skin thing going on.
Maybe just a touch more lip color, but only if you think it would look better.
