Mrs. Avocado's Picture
Mrs. Avocado, Seattle Age and Occupation: 23, Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Consultant Engagement Date: July 27, 2008 Wedding Date: October, 2008 Blogging Since: June 30, 2008 Venue: LDS Seattle Temple & Hotel 1000 About Me: Somehow this little farm girl found herself a genuine Pole to fall in love and eventually move away to Poland with. I am an LDS bride attempting to plan a private religious ceremony, ring ceremony, seated reception for 100, and an open house while coordinating for guests flying in from across the United States and as far away as Poland. I try to avoid fads, excess waste, and saturated fat. I strongly endorse photography, DDR, calorie counting, rss feeds, cooking, and utilizing your resources.
About Mrs. Avocado

Czesc hive! I am thrilled to be the newest bee, Miss Avocado. I think when I got “the email” Mr. Avocado thought something terrible had happened. I was shaking and I just kept saying “Oh my, oh my.” Mr. Avocado has labeled me as an extrovert who would run around naked if possible, so displaying my every wedding related action for the world to see is pretty much the best thing ever.

Before we begin there is one thing we should clear up. I’m currently still waiting for an official proposal. Miss Avocado is my name, but you can also call me “The Ring-less Bride.” (But I am not, repeat, not groom-less.)

I’m assuming you would like to start by learning a little bit about this particular variety of Avocado. I grew up in a tiny farming town in Central Washington while on the other side of the world my future husband was unsuspectingly mushroom hunting his way around Poland.

One day I asked him to this little “prom” we were having and told him we either had to start dating or stop spending so much time together. He didn’t answer me for three weeks. But that’s another story for another post!

The night of the prom.

Mr. Avocado and I are the classic example of opposites attracting. He is the introvert I am the extrovert. His thrifty self helped me change my habits to pay off my debt when we first started dating. He once had a steady diet of Snickers and fast food, but I quickly taught him the meaning of the words saturated fat.

We have so much to learn from each other but we have more than enough in common to keep ourselves entertained. His introverted self has also sacrificed much allowing me to apply for Weddingbee knowing that it would mean his face would be plastered all over the internet for thousands of people to see. I love him so much for being willing to compromise!

Why Avocado? Mr. Avocado wanted something tough, like “Miss Ninja.” Since that wasn’t an option I decided to go with Avocado. When we were first dating and Mr. Avocado was trying to eat healthier and he did not understand how I could be putting avocados on everything. He had looked it up, and they were full of fat. Wasn’t fat the very thing I was trying to avoid? He has since come a long way, and eating healthy has become a way of life for us, with plenty of room for all the avocados we can handle.

I hope you’re craving more of my rich and creamy goodness. There is a lot more of Miss Avocado coming your way as I attempt to wrap up all of my loose ends before our wedding, happening roughly 100 days from now!

I, too, am a ringless bride, waiting for an official proposal!!! We’ve already booked our October 2009 reception and wedding, but he has yet to propose officially. We did buy a new house and new car together in the past 2 months, so that may be why he hasn’t scrapped together the cash for one yet… ;-) Can’t wait to hear more from you!

Miss Avocado,

Fret not. I was a ringless bride up until about two and a half weeks before our wedding which I really hated…..until I finally got my ring! Definately worth the wait! Welcome to the hive!

I was a ringless bride too! We wanted to be married in September 2008, but I wanted to get great vendors before they booked up, so I had to start planning before I got the ring. Lo and behold, it eventually came and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

I was just reading your blog the other day — welcome!

Oh come on, I don’t expect much from this website but seriously, a fake beebee bride? Ugh. So, what, is this now going to turn into the equivalent of The Knot’s Not Engaged Yet board? Eww! Save the spaces for the REAL brides-to-be!

My parents were born and raised in poland and came over here about 25 years ago. We’re also having a few people coming from poland and incorporating some Polish traditions. I’m looking forward to hearing about your wedding!

I assume by “official proposal” you mean merely the presentation of an engagement ring. Because if you have a set a date (only 100 days away!) and have plans set in motion to definitely be married by that point, I would consider that to be a real engagement. Thus, you are a “REAL” bride-to-be and shouldn’t listen to people who try to tell you otherwise. :)

I know where you’re coming from, too.. the FI and I had a 6 month window set for our wedding after we’d be dating for a year — we’ve been together for three now and only officially got engaged and set an actual date in February.
