Adesso Album in Action

July 1st, 2008 @ 2:35 pm by Mrs. Penguin

I had gone back and forth as to whether or not to have a Polaroid guestbook at our wedding. While I loved the idea, I just felt like film was so expensive, and I didn’t know if I could find/borrow/buy Polaroid cameras because the Polaroid company has ceased manufacturing them. We lucked out though: my mother-in-law bought us two Adesso Polaroid Guestbook Albums, so all I had to do was buy film and round up some cameras. I ended up borrowing the cameras from my super schweet girlfriend Jane (thank you Janie!) so the cost issue didn’t hit as hard as I originally thought it would.

But cheap, expensive, or otherwise, I have to say: the Polaroid guestbook was a HUGE hit. Everyone loved snapping their picture, and because the Adesso Album is so user-friendly (guests just slip their photos into slots on every page), that the albums were beautiful and assembled for Mr. Penguin and I to enjoy by the next morning at our send-off brunch!

Messages ranged from sweet…

…to strange.

z15222302

Some people had more to say…

z15222303

…than others.

z15222304

Some were funny…

…and some were ridiculously funny.

But mostly, everyone that signed it had a good time snapping their picture and leaving us a little message!

And now our albums sit next to Minnie at our house, waiting to be thumbed through by guests.

Remember, Polaroid cameras (and soon, film) are no longer being manufactured or sold by Polaroid, but various online retailers still sell them. It was definitely fun to have a dying product of our generation at our wedding. Perhaps one day, our children will look at the albums and realize how ancient we were to live in the era of the Polaroid!

So cute! I keep on going back and forth on this for the same reasons but yours makes it look like too much fun to pass up.

I love it! It will be so much fun to go through the notes and read them over and over. I have read our wish bowl cards a few times and some of them still bring me to tears.

I totally got the Norman Chow reference. I love former Bruins with heart (Rick Neuheisel) and dislike the ones lacking it (Karl Dorrell).

Hi,
Strange question. Are you an Alpha Phi? I saw that one of your guest signed her well wishes with AOE. I’m an Alpha Phi and that was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. I always feel that special connection.

and of course, congratulations on your wedding!

@Allachka3: Silver, Bordeaux, and AOE :) I was Beta Delta at UCLA!

@shannamt: Staples.com…I checked recently (to link it to this post) and I noticed that they had stopped selling it? I also like Adorama.com, I know they are still selling it!

I absolutely agree — the Polaroid guestbook was one of the biggest hits of our wedding (and even more so later in the night, when our pro photographers had departed and we brought the Polaroid stuff inside to capture the dance party that suddenly erupted). I set mine up myself with photo corners and a Paper Source album, but only because I couldn’t find a pre-made album big enough for the number of photos I wanted — why I wasn’t smart enough to just buy two like Mrs. Penguin, I have no idea.

But anyway, I bought the camera off Amazon (the OneTouch series in blue — worked perfectly) and the film off eBay. My goal was to not pay more than $1 per exposure including shipping, which is definitely doable if you buy in big lots and shop around.

I’m so happy that your guest book experience went so well since my Adesso albums just showed up in the mail 2 days ago! Now I feel like I did the right thing by going ahead and ordering them and trying to get the film now.

Mrs Pengy - did you have an entire guestbook table setup? With all the extra film packs and pens and stuffs scattered around it? Do you have a pic if yes? What kind of dog would you be if you magically changed into one RIGHT now?

Mrs. Penguin, I knew you were one of my favorite bees! I noticed the AOE too - I’m an Omega from the University of Texas. I love how well your album turned out.

I did a wish bowl as well as a faux photobooth done my photographer, so sadly, I wasn’t able to get the photos at the reception so people could leave messages with them, so I’m trying to think of something creative to do after the fact.

@Annie: Were you one of the gals that e mailed me about these questions? If not, I’m emailing you now!

Also, I’d be a Lhasa Apso, and I’d bite people.
