Mr. Pinot Noir and I just returned from a wonderful weekend in Northern Minnesota from a couple’s wedding shower that my sister-in-law hosted for us. The event was not your traditional wedding shower, but an informal outdoor BBQ at my parents’ home. Since we are having a destination wedding, our family friends and extended family will not be able to celebrate with us in California. The party was absolutely wonderful and it was so much fun to see family, friends and neighbors. I promise to post pictures soon!
While the party was flawless and we managed to avoid the predicted thunderstorms, we were not so lucky on our return to New York on Sunday. After a two hour delay in Minneapolis, our flight to New York was cancelled. We were rebooked for a flight on Monday but since neither Mr. Pinot Noir or I could miss work today, we decided to get on the closest flight possible and drive to New York. We ended up catching the last flight to Baltimore, rented a car and drove three hours up to New York. The whole event was extremely frustrating and exhausting, but I was so thankful that it was not our wedding weekend. While I will be arriving in San Francisco 3 days before the wedding, Mr. Pinot Noir will be getting in late Thursday evening, which doesn’t leave much time for canceled flights or delays since we need to get our marriage license Friday morning. I guess we will need to just keep our fingers crossed and know that every thing will work out in the end.
Have you ever missed an important event due to air travel delays?
I used to travel a ton with my old job and delays were SO frustrating! It got to the point where I just really got used to them - even when it meant that delays = lost luggage for days at a time. However, hubby hates it when flights are delayed and gets so frustrated.
