About Mrs. Hummingbird

Best. Wedding. Ever.

July 1st, 2008 @ 4:44 pm by Mrs. Hummingbird

A picture of Kim’s (a.k.a. zombiebride’s) rain boots. She was the only one prepared for the weather.

They say into every life a little rain must fall. Well, it fell into mine. Hard.

The night before our wedding, there was a huge thunderstorm. I woke up at 1:30 in the morning to a huge bolt of lightning. I felt my stomach turn. Best case scenario, it was going to be a one big muddy mess. Worst case scenario, we would have to move everything inside.
Lucky for us, the nasty weather held off during our ceremony with the sun cracking through the clouds as we exchanged rings. And as for our guests, they dealt with the muddy conditions like pros, many of them stripping off their shoes and tromping around in the squishy grass like hippies at Woodstock.

At the end of the night, the buffet and the bar were cleaned out, everyone was sweaty and bug bitten. The dance floor and my dress were smeared with mud, but we couldn’t have had a better time. At 2 A.M. we had to actually kick the last of the guests (my friends, naturally) out, as they were so prepared to stay until the sun came up.
Anyway, I will be back to share all the dirty little details (and I do mean dirty), but for now three little words.

Best. Wedding. Ever.

*Funny little side note: Because we are currently honeymooning up by Algonquin Park, the Internet here is dodgy to say the least. We have a bit of a connection in our room, but that comes and goes depending on whether or not the people in the room next to ours are inhaling or exhaling. So for the last couple of days, like Miranda from Sex and the City’s honeymoon obsession with her cell phone, I have been tromping around the grounds here trying to pick up wireless internet so that I can access my e-mail. I am such a slave to technology. :P

Glad that the rainy conditions did get you down! That takes one cool kinda lady to go with the flow, enjoy the ride, and see the good when circumstances might be less than. Congratulations!! And Happy Honeymooning!

Hehe - “There is something in the bushes, and I hope it’s a wild animal and not Steve coming to have sex with me again”. Gotta love Miranda.
