About Miss Cookie

Something Red

July 2nd, 2008 @ 6:31 pm by Miss Cookie

I am a slave to lip gloss. In the dryness that is Colorado, I perpetually carry around one tube of Burt’s Bees lip balm and one tube of my current favorite shade of lip gloss to fight against my curse of chapped lips. When I was thinking about what wedding accessories that I needed, a clutch to hold my lip gloss (and other accoutrements) was a big necessity.

I’ve been searching high-and-low for months trying to find the perfect one. I originally wanted a Tiffany Blue clutch, but besides buying one from Tiffany’s there was not an inexpensive one to be found. Enter Etsy. While searching for other bridal accessories, I came across Red Ruby Rose handmade clutches. At first, I did a request through Alchemy for a custom blue clutch, but I fell in love with this breezy, red tulip clutch once I saw it. Rowena, the owner, lives in England and has awesome customer service. She messaged me seconds after I bought the purchase to say that my bag would arrive in about 10 days! YAY! Above and below are picture of my clutch that I will be stalking my mailbox for in the coming days.

Although I was really looking forward to using the Alchemy process for my clutch, I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

Have you had any custom items for your wedding made through Etsy?

So many! A clutch, shrug, closure for the shrug (super adorable silver birds connected by a chain), necklace, guestbook components, and hair accessories (amazing orange flowers made from kimono fabric). I LOVE etsy!

Your clutch is beautiful, and very re-useable. Just a note though, I barely used mine on the day of - I was just too busy running around, and my bridesmaids became responsible for holding things for me (like lip stuff, and tissues).

i have the biggest crush on etsy - so much talent, reasonable prices and truly excellent customer service!

we had some custom cufflinks made - there was a problem with the order as a result of shipping and the vendor responded immediately going out of her way to correct.

LOVE the red clutch - fun *and* chic!

That’s too funny! I ordered my clutch from her and was going to post about it today as well! I guess I’ll hold off on that one so I don’t seem like a Cookie thief haha.

SO CUTE!

I had Rowena make a custom clutch for me for my wedding…. I got it in the mail in her adorable packaging and immediately fell in love with it. The only sad part is that since it was custom, it hadn’t been on her site at all… But then all of a sudden she started selling it - it’s the “Belle of the Ball” clutch. I think she should have named it after me!

Ack, I am a total Etsy slut. Headpiece, jewelry, BM gifts, shower hostess gifts, invitations/STDs, Mr.GV’s wedding ring, cupcake decorations, boutonnieres, soy candles… and I’m sure I’ll come up with many more by October. :-D

I’ve used the Alchemy feature for several of them and have had great experiences so far.

Ha, I *know* that Denver lip dryness! Used to go there a week at a time for court sessions, and EVERY time I would forget my lipbalm and wind up making a crazed run to the 7-11 near our hotel about 3 hours after we arrived.

And that purse is adorable!

I’m totally in love with Etsy. I simply can’t get enough. I’m having both our wedding bands made, ties for the groomsmen and most likely a shrug or caplet for myself. I’m crafty, but I’m not that good. The Etsy community rocks!

Adorable purse!
I just made my first Etsy purchase; a custom order of BM necklaces. Deborah from Alas My Dear probably made 8 iterations until we both agreed that they were perfect! So excited to see them!

Beautiful purse! I’m in the middle of searching for an affordable vintage clutch but no luck yet! I will certainly remember Red Ruby Rose for Plan B.
