Special thanks to Riley for the lead ;)

Are you wearing a “non-wedding” dress for your wedding?

That dress is so beautiful and simple! The shape is plenty wedding-dress-y and looks amazing on her.

I’m having a dress made that has lots of color in it, so many people would consider it “non-wedding” - but I love it!! I’ve had a few moments of “why am I doing this?” about the dress, but I’m really excited to wear a dress that’s different. (It’s on my blog if anyone’s interested.)

Another Wai-Ching bride here (like GV). Not white, and technically not a dress at all- two piece outfit =)

Not as wedding-y, not as expensive, and I’ll wear it many more times =D

I also wore a very non wedding-y dress on my wedding day - a cocktail-length dupioni silk dress, in ivory. Very funky and very me - and I still felt very much like a bride!

Can you let me know what brand the dress is? I love to get the red one. Can we purchase it online?

Yep. Got mine, an ivory evening gown, on a clearance rack at Macy’s for $100!

Wow that is a beautiful dress - it doesn’t look a bridesmaid dress at all.

Miss Green Tea - Thanks for the shout out!

And thanks to the rest of you for all your lovely comments :)

Miss Les Mots - The dress is Alvina Valenta from their Maids collection. There’s a link to it on my blog.

Yeah all I did was look at bridesmaid dresses actually. So many of them can be turned into a beautiful wedding dress just by making them white or ivory.

My Matron of honor did the same thing.

Any pictures are up at my blog, but mine is from Impression and hers was a B2.

No one could tell the differenct

I was planning on wearing a bridesmaid dress and had looked online at some. However, a friend of mine who is getting married three months after me went on her first dress shopping trip and found a dress for $120. She liked it alright and therefore bought it. On her fourth shopping trip she ended up having a dress made that combines two she really like. So, she’s now spending more than my entire wedding budget on her dress. She suggested I try her backup dress. I love it and it fits perfectly. Only “alteration” it needed was the bustle ($10 at my neighborhood seamstress). Best thing - I love my dress and didn’t have to set foot in a store!!!
