Gift for My Girls…

July 3rd, 2008 @ 12:25 pm by Mrs. Cherry Blossom

I was nervous about getting my girlfriends these because I wasn’t sure who might have a pair of pearl earrings or a solitaire pearl pendant in their jewelry collection already. Most of my girls didn’t. I left the decision to them about wearing it the day of either of our receptions.

As another thank you to my girls for the shower and getaway they treated me to, I treated them to manis and pedis. The dress and hair/makeup were always a given that we’d provide for our party because, after all, they were doing us the honor of being a part of our wedding.

DISCOUNT BABY! (You should try this!) I spoke with a local nail salon, Classic Nails, and negotiated a discount of 10% off all the treatments for my party. I invited all the women (moms, aunts, G-mas and sisters) of our families and my BMs to set up an appointment anytime during the week before the wedding to choose any treatment of pedicure and manicure. I left a sheet with the salon to write in the treatment my party received and for each individual to sign as a confirmation that they received it. I made small deposits of payment and included gratuity on the final payment.

The pearl sets were purchased at the plaza on Grant Avenue in San Francisco where Empress of China is located. When you enter the main doors to the plaza, make a sharp left, and it’s the first counter to your left against the main window. Unfortunately I don’t have their name.

Presenting my gifts to them had to be as detailed as all the parties and gifts that they had given me. So I borrowed my gf’s idea for wrapping the gifts. My BM created wrapping paper by making sheets full of adorable text with names and graphics. I created my own through Powerpoint using a pattern I liked that my friend had created for me and copied and pasted the pattern until it covered the whole page.

Then I used Powerpoint to create a second page for the “ribbon” with the word “Thank You.” On a blank document, I created a line that was 40 pts thick that stretched across the sheet. What I liked about it is that it printed to the edge of the paper without defaulting a cut off border.

Next I used a text box and typed “Thank You” with Beautiful ES font, in white, and centered it on the ribbon. You can fit quite a few strips on there.

Cut the strips out, wrap your gift, and voila. Personalized wrapping paper. If the 8.5″ x 11″ sheet is too small, try piecing together multiple sheets with shipping tape to create one large sheet.

OMG I LOVE this wrapping paper - it’s sooooo pretty! Did you just use regular printing paper, or something of a lighter stock?

Beautiful! I am also curious about the type of paper you used, it has a nice sheen gloss to it…

@Linzerella: I used color copier paper so that it’d have a tiny big of thickness and sheet to it but honestly, regular paper does just the same trick!

Mrs. Cherry Blossom…a whole post for me, I feel so honored! Looks like I’m not the only one who loves your idea so much and wants to steal it. ;) I was just thinking of doing a set like that because of something my flower girl’s mother mentioned and then your post came along…it was like it was meant to be! Hi five to you, one of us Bay Area Bombshells!
