Sneak Peek: Our Table Numbers!

July 3rd, 2008 @ 8:25 am by Mrs. Candy Corn

For our table numbers, I decided to draw a different bird in brown ink for each table number. On the opposite side of the card is a stamped number (using Martha’s stamps) in brown ink. The table cards are made out of light blue floral scrapbook paper that I made double-sided by using some spray adhesive. I’d like to recommend against using spray adhesive on your kitchen floor when you’re desperate for a clean, flat space because it will result in sticky shoes for all of eternity.

The large clothespin table card holders were purchased at Michael’s and painted blue. I plan to punch subtle floral designs along the sides of the cards (the floral hole puncher thingamabob that I purchased is also by Martha), which I was going to do before taking these photos, but I spotted a centipede crawling in my general direction and ran for the hills (aka our bedroom). Anyway, enough rambling. Here is a sneak peek of what our table numbers will look like, minus a few last minute details (I have only finished four of them, and I plan to do at least twelve).

What types of table number ideas have you guys come up with?

Table number holders are the current bane of my existence, but I love these!

I used the martha numbers too, except I used the solid ones, and I used chocolate brown ink on ivory cards. I rounded the edges on the cards and then attached them, one on each side, to my centerpieces. The centerpieces are origami rose ball topiaries, in chocolate brown pots (they were terracotta but I painted them to go with our colors).

i’m using giant, swirly, black and white lollipops with red numbers on the front and back of them. can’t decide whether or not to just insert them into the flowers at each table or into these ikea vases i bought. what to do. what to do.

Wow, I’m blown away by your talent, these are adorable!

We’re having our reception at our family’s lake, so we turned table “numbers” into table “pictures” of scenes and things we like to do at the lake. We’ve got table kayak, table rowboat, table swimming, etc. etc. We’re going to put them in frames on the tables and then purchased stickers of the photos from ofoto.com for the escort cards.

Those are really neat! Did you really draw them yourself? Very talented! Can you share the names of the birds?

For our southwest-themed wedding, we are using table names that reflect the various parks and campgrounds we have visited (we are big into hiking): Bandolier, White Sands, Canyonlands, Chaco Culture, and so on. We will include a picture we took of the place on the card (we also are into photography ;-)). Out centerpieces will be cactuses, succulents, and flowers in clay pots or wood stumps, or some tables will have sandstone rock kairns (stone markers found on hiking trails) with cactuses on them. I’m hoping people will understand and enjoy it!

I made the escort cards with 10 different colored m&m’s and filled each candy dish on the table to match. The kids had fun matching up their name to the table.

Mine were animals - I didn’t use numbers (or words) at all. The escort cards just had a small picture of the animal next to the name.

Thanks so much guys!

@futuremrsbrown:
mmmm that sounds beautiful!

@Miss Pineapple:
yes ma’am!

@pattyb:
thank you :) your numbers sound like they’re going to be fab.

@Mrs. Jasmine:
Thank you *blushing*

@Miss Canary:
I was hoping the clothespins aren’t too ugly, so I’m glad you like them! :)

@Bumble_dee:
Thanks! I drew the birds in pencil first and then did the details in a double tipped chocolate colored marker by a company called Writer (I found the marker at Michael’s near the scrapbooking goodies) and then erased any pencil marks. There wasn’t any gocco-ing involved on this one :)

@shannamt:
Thank you! Once I’m done with the bird drawings, I’m going to scan them and make prints of some of the better ones and put them in my Etsy shop (youwannatalkjive.etsy.com), so if you see any you really like or want them in a certain size I’d be happy to make a print for you :)

@Miss Margarita:
Thank you! You guys are way too nice :)

@Maude:
We were thinking of using our pets since we have 6, but we don’t have enough for all of our tables. Your name reminds me of that because our chinchilla’s name is Maude :) I’ve always been a fan of Maudes!

I love the personal touch that this adds. Guests are going to love walking around to the different tables to see what else there is.

A-MAZ-ING!!!!! People are going to be clamoring to take those home, so you’d better grab them yourself before your guests beat you to it.

We’re using mini chalkboards to go with the farmers’ market theme… each table will have a drawing of a different fruit, veggie, or flower, in addition to a number. I started drawing some the other day but was mocked so mercilessly by a certain groom that I need to put down the chalk and let him do it.

completely fabulously wonderful! like pattyb, we’re using shared activities for our table names - our photog friend is going to follow us around over several weekends and snap fun, lighthearted pics of us doing our favorite things. it’s a great way to get together with friends and have some fun in the midst of DIY projectville. it will also be a fun way for people to find out more about activities we enjoy, other than the ones they always hear about (food and tango). :)
