I Come Bearing Gifts

July 7th, 2008 @ 10:29 am by Mrs. Tiramisu

Dearest Hive,

I owe you an apology! What a fair-weather bee I have been! I’m sorry that I disappeared on you there, as life got a little crazy in Tiramisu land, but if you’ll allow me, I’m back for good now. Well, at least for the next two weeks until the wedding- uh- HOLY CRAP did I just say two weeks? I better get down to business then… and since I was a bad little bee I brought some gifts with me for my return. Unfortunately they’re for my bridesmaids, but I thought you might like to see them anyway. ;)

*Beautiful bridesmaids! Here is where you run away from the computer screen!*
I had so much fun shopping for the seven most fabulous friends and sisters in my life… here’s what they’ll be opening up the night before our wedding…

Blue Topaz Earrings

SandySimone custom made these gorgeous and delicate blue topaz and sterling silver earrings. She was great to work with, gave me a discount for an order of seven, and packaged these earrings beautifully.

Blue Beaded Necklaces

Purchased on sale from Ann Taylor.

Silver Pashminas

I am pretty impressed with the quality and softness of these, seeing that I got them on ebay, and they weren’t very expensive. And as it’s damn near impossible to judge the color online, it’s a miracle that they match the bridesmaids heels exactly.

Dancing Shoes

I’ve been a bridesmaid twice, and both times was given flip flops as a gift to change into at the reception. Totally appreciated, and made me a way more fun friend on the dancefloor. I thought I’d do the same for my friends.

Sheila D Bags

You might recognize these- I love this company for their fun and reasonably priced bags of all sizes.

Body Wash

I picked these up on sale at Victoria’s Secret in Raspberry Cosmo and Cherry Bellini- they smell delicious. I’m still looking for a non-alcoholic version for bridesmaid #7- my 12 year-old sis ;)

Personalized Gocco’ed Notecards

I made ten of each of the three designs for each girl.

Mini Photo Albums

Yet another fabulous etsy find. I purchased these from etsy seller smbriones. They’re reconstructed from larger photo albums, and I’ve filled them with a few pictures of my bridesmaids and me.

Lodging

Their final gift is that we’re paying for half of the cost of our bridal party’s lodging for the weekend at the home we’re renting for our reception (it’s a separate rental from the lawn). We wish we could swing the whole thing, but we hope they’ll appreciate us meeting them halfway! It’s a cool old house with a lot of character, but the best part is that we’ll get to spend a little extra time with them by having them all together there.

Next up- flower girl gifts!

Wow! What fun gifts! I know they’ll be thrilled. Can you give us a price breakdown? I’m curious about what the average bride spends on these. Also, what gifts are your groom giving his men? Thanks so much!

Oooh Miss Tiramisu, I love all the thoughtful little details you’ve put into this wedding, bridesmaids gifts included. I would love to receive all of these things as a bridesmaid gift! Good luck with everything in the next few weeks. :-)

Thanks!
@Lauren: I’ve picked these up over the past year, so some of these are estimates…
Earrings: $12 each
Necklaces: $24 each
Pashminas: $7.50 each
Flip flops: $11 each
Bags: $12 each
Body wash: $3 each
Notecards (including supplies): $4.80 each
Photo Albums and photos: $5 each
Mr. Tiramisu has purchased vintage style Wrangler shirts for his groomsmen (which is sort of a joke because he wears the shirts so often), and having them embroidered with each person’s nickname. We’re also purchasing their ties for the wedding day, and half lodging.

@Lea: Yes, it was heidi-nj: http://stores.ebay.com/heidi-nj I contacted her and got a bulk price/shipping discount. I know they’re not real pashminas, but I think the quality is great!

@JoieDeVie: I ordered them through ebay seller uniquepacking: http://stores.ebay.com/uniquepacking I wish they were a little wider though, I can only fit about 10 cards in each one. Good luck with all your DIY’ing!

Wow you put together a very nice bag for your girls. I love that you added little personal touches with the cards you made and you put together a nice little photo album for them. I’ve been in plenty of weddings and have never received so much stuff (and good stuff too).
