One More Tie

July 7th, 2008 @ 8:32 am by Mrs. Gingerbread

Last month, I presented you with Miss GB 2.0 and her two shirts and two ties. The votes are in and the clear, hands down winner was the cream shirt with a cream tie. Everything seemed right with the world.

But reader Chibride was right when she predicted that there would be a third tie. Miss Milkshake’s post about etsy ties sent me running to toybreaker’s shop for a Sakura tie. Toybreaker was super helpful in breaking down the difference between standard, narrow and skinny ties for us. (For the record, Miss GB 2.0 needs a narrow tie for it to look proportional on her.)

*cue Daft Punk’s “One More Time“*

So now Miss GB 2.0 is a three tie bride. She really digs the slightly feminine touch of cherry blossoms on this green tie. Plus, cherry blossoms bring back fond memories of the early days of our relationship when cherry blossoms were in full bloom at the Tidal Basin in D.C. :)

Here is my reluctant model with the cream shirt and new green tie.

As a special bonus, here’s one of her flashing you.

Just to jog your memory, this is my dress as worn by the Watters model.

What do you think? Does the green tie trump the cream tie?

MagPie518 says:

As I said during our last tie vote, make one the ceremony tie, and one the party tie! :-)

2.
KateMW says:

I like the green tie, but maybe they have it in white on white? I was really digging the white on white. But, if it has memories for both of y’all, I’m all for it!

3.
pattyb says:

Definitely the green tie! It’s gorgeous.

Yes definitely! I love the two touches of color!

5.
Brooke says:

Total Trump! Tell the cream tie it’s FIRED!

6.
tanya2s says:

I like the green since it sets off your sash, but isn’t too matchy-matchy.

7.
angiepangie says:

I love the green tie for the little pop of color it gives her

8.
Ley says:

I LOVE the green tie! The white-on-white is gorgeous, but I like the sentiment behind the green, and that it coordinates with your dress.

9.
Dulaman8 says:

And the green tie wins!!! So nice and it really compliments your sash on your dress. I think you will look really coordinated without being “matchy-matchy”.

Has she seen your dress??

10.
Nette says:

I still like the cream tie, but I like the symbolism of the cherry blossom to you as a couple.
I think I agree with magpie…go with both. Brides do two dresses all the time, why not a two tie wedding? I think the white for the ceremony and green for the reception would be really cool.

11.
SoCalBeachGirl says:

LOVE the green tie, it’s the perfect complement to your green sash.

Go green.

liz says:

uh, yes. green tie = amazing! you two are going to be amazingly foxy brides!

14.
Caroline says:

LOVE the green tie! If you are still in love with the cream tie, though, i’ll echo everybody else — Miss GB 2.0 can wear the cream tie for the ceremony, and the awesome green tie for the reception!

15.
dr.R says:

i really like the sofisitication of the white on white… maybe do white for ceromony and green for reception… or like katemw said, can they do a white cherry blossom?

16.
Ada says:

Definitely! LOVE the green :)

17.
Christine says:

I love the green but am tempted by the idea of a white tie with green cherry blossems on it. The feminine suit, all in white, is really stunning.

18.
pgranatum says:

I really really like the green tie.

19.
guinness257 says:

Ooh…so hard. I like Christine’s idea of the white with green cherry blossoms…the best of both worlds! A little pop of color to coordinate with your sash, but the elegance of the white on white suit!

20.
Michelle says:

WOW!! That is perfect!! The Cherry Blossoms are perfect! Feminine but not girly (which seems like it might be ms gb 2’s nemesis word.) :) She is going too look fantastic… not to distract from your fun, lacy, yet oh so chick dress!
..ummm…. is gb 2’s suit just not pressed or not yet tailored to her in those pictures? (I am NOT dogging on the pictures!!!!!!!!) Just wouldnt want to look back at yalls wedding photos to realize ms gb 2’s suit wasn’t fit quite right and looking like she slept in it by the end of the night. (Seriously - I love the pictures!! I just want to toss that thought out there.)

21.
doctorgirl says:

The green is really nice, but I have to say that the white cherry blossoms against the cream suit has been poking me in the arm a little bit as I stare at it. (I get fixated on silly little things sometime)

Since the tie has meaning, and you really like it, definitely incorporate it. Maybe the more formal pics with cream? I mean, that cream tie is really hot too! And btw, your dress is amazing. I think the green is great with it.

22.
turtle says:

green tie, for sure.

23.
shannamt says:

Vote 1: green blossoms/white tie if possible.

Vote 2: White at wedding & green at reception

Miss Gingerbread says:

Thanks for the feedback. We were having a tough time deciding over here by ourselves.

@Dulaman8: She has yet to see me in my dress. That’s why I keep using the Watters model as my stand in ;)

@Michelle: Good call, Michelle. I should have noted that the first photo was before any alterations and that in the rest of the photos, the suit could really use pressing. These photos were just for illustrative purposes and the real deal should look a lot better :)

@missm: She likes both. I’m thinking that even if she only wears one tie, the other will have to come along for some photographs!

31.
Guilty Secret says:

I say cream for the ceremony, green for the reception.

32.
CarolineG says:

Her green tie with your green sash seems bit matchy-matchy prom to me, despite it being a beautiful tie.

33.
AliCherri1 says:

First things first - Miss GB 2.0 look HOTT in her suit!
and I say cream tie for the ceremony and green for the reception :)

34.
suzanno says:

I love the green tie! The whole outfit is quite nice on her. Although she might want to rethink the black bra if she is going to be taking her jacket off later in the evening!!

39.

I like the green with the sash. :)

40.
miss purple says:

I’m going to go against the grain and say cream tie. Although it’s gorgeous, the green tie sticks out too much for me and screams hey look, I’m wearing a tie. Did I already mention I looooove that suit? It looks amazing on her!

41.
Squishy622 says:

This isn’t going to help with your indecision, but she can’t go wrong, they’re both beautiful! Though I do like how the green one speaks to your dress.

42.
HayJ says:

I vote for cream for wedding, green for reception!!!

43.
Ms Popcorn says:

Green tie! Mr. Popcorn wore toybreaker’s poppy silkscreen in gold on a green tie for our wedding.

44.
Tara says:

Green tie all the way. It’s gorgeous!

45.
marianneinvan says:

I like the cream one better, but the green one does look good too, so my vote is that she should be a two-tie bride. :P

46.

Miss Pomegranate says:

I loooooove the green tie. I think it adds a touch of your wedding colors to her awesome getup. Go for it!

She could be a two-tie bride - wear the white for the ceremony and the green for the reception? That’d be pretty awesome! It’d be her party tie! Woo!

47.
megan says:

Green tie all the way!!!!

48.
BeccaLush says:

I love cherry blossoms, I love you guys and so, of course, I love the green tie… so my answer… GO GREEN (pun intended)!

49.
mamamiya says:

my friend wore a similar dress at her wedding, and the green sash really made the dress stand out more. It is a beautiful dress!

50.
gaudior23 says:

I just like the white photograph so much more, I don’t know what it is but she looks so slim and a little curvy compared to the other photos. The green is beautiful, but if the white on white makes her look better than I’d go for it. The only thing we’re missing is her face - which would tell us if green is more flattering to her than pure white.
I vote white.

Now I can’t get it out of my head….

53.
Thea T says:

tough call. We were planning on getting that same tie in black for the Boy, so you know I love those ties, but the white on white is really stunning. Good luck!

54.
Lindsay says:

I like the green tie - ties [no pun initially intended, LOL] in well with your dress!!

55.
woman007 says:

LOVE love love love the green tie! I think the story behind the cherry blossoms makes it very special, too.

Could even put your sash and her tie in a shadow box with a wedding picture later on.

56.
GorgesViola says:

I really love the green one (and toybreaker’s shop). Do you already have a wrap? She sells such nice coordinating shawls…

I do love the white-on-white and think she could definitely do a tie-switch, but I like the idea of the green with both your dress and the venue. :-)

57.
QueenoftheClick says:

When I saw the green tie alone - I was like no way. Then when I saw it and imagined it with your dress - I said Hell Yeah!

That’s a great combo - goodbye cream tie!

58.
Desaray says:

omg. has the green tie post gotten as many comments as the leviticus post?!?! Also, my vote is ceremony white, reception green.

59.
Laura says:

green tie for sure :) so fun!

OOOOOH Green one definitely. It matches the dress without feeling overdone. Do it do it!

63.
Barbara says:

Cream for ceremony, Green for reception! I love a two tie bride.

64.
chibride says:

Two ties! Cream for ceremony & green for reception.

65.
Loralie says:

I’m voting for the green tie - not only is it a lot more unique (I heart unique touches), but the green in both her suit & your dress unites your outfits, and I like the symbolism of that. . .

66.
christina says:

i love the green tie…looks great with your dress. question: where is the suit from? it looks great! we are having a tough time finding a men’s suit for my GF & that one looks fab, is it a men’s or women’s suit?

67.
Bee Icon
Miss Gingerbread says:

@christina: It’s a women’s suit from Benneton. We actually got it at one of their outlet stores. Here’s a tiny bit more info on the suit: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/04/28/what-will-miss-gb-20-wear/
