About candycorn

accesso

As you have probably guessed, I’ve decided to wear dress #2 (the vintage dress), since I couldn’t justify spending the money on alterations for my first dress and I’m a lot more comfortable in the shorter, vintage dress. For my accessories, I’ll be wearing a necklace from Anthropologie, a bunny brooch from Sarah Ogren to pin on my bouquet, a light sash around my waist, a hair pin (poorly Photoshopped on my head) by Twigs & Honey, a clutch from Red Ruby Rose and a petticoat slip from Amazon.com. I had been thinking that I would wear a headband, but with this more casual style dress, I wanted a hair piece that would bring out its elegance and dress it up a bit.

The only thing I’m not certain about is the shoes. What do you guys think, do they go with the entire ensemble? I’m pretty sold on them because I think they mesh well with my accessories and my style, plus they’re affordable. But I’d love some thoughts from the hive! I’m definitely going to wear flats because I want to be comfortable and if I wear heels I’ll be stumbling around like an arse monkey.

Do you ever find yourself asking, WWSACD?

Stacey and Clinton are my style gurus :-)

Are you SURE you want to wear flats? Little kitten heels would be so adorable with that dress….. I would just be nervous about those flats making things a little too casual….. but that’s just me :-)

I agree with Miss Cupcake … a little heel (perhaps with a cute rounded toe - or peep toe) could totally add to your vintage vibe and dress it up a bit.

I’m open to heels, but after browsing the king of prussia mall yesterday and finding nothing that with the vintage flair I’m looking for I was kind of let down. I think heels would dress it up and be more flattering, so if anyone has any recommendations of what might go with my dress I’m totally open! Should I go with an ivory or bronzes and metallics, or something with an extra pop of color? Sigh, these are the days I wish I had a mini Stacey and Clinton in my pocket to assist me in my shopping needs.

I third that sentiment. While those flats are lovely, they just don’t seem dressy enough. And even the tiniest of kitten heels will make your legs look amazing - your calf muscles will be more firm and your butt will lift by 25%. No joke. Plus, kitten heels have such a great vintage, ladylike vibe.

Definitely try a kitten heel - much easier to wander around in and would be so fabulous with the shorter dress. The shoes pictured are fun and would be a great surprise under a more formal dress, but may be a bit too casual in this situation.

Ugh, KOP wears me out so I know how you feel about continuing the search for new shoes. But, like the PPs, I think a little heel (or a big heel with a peep-toe!) would look really great with the dress.

i would also agree that a small heel would look the best. They would dress it up, but would also add leg-lengthening loveliness that can never hurt with a shorter dress! (unless you’re 6 feet tall and 110 pounds?) What about a mary jane style kitten heel? Mary Janes in and of themselves have a bit of a vintage flair. I think with the whole combo an ivory or subtly metallic pair would look lovely.

I think your look is super gorgeous and seems very “you”!

I can totally rock the kitten heels without stumbling around! You guys are genius. I’m totally going on a kitten heel browsing frenzy right now.

I’m kind of digging these:
http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/41367171/c/177.html

http://www.shoemall.com/product/MIA-Womens-Sweetheart-Pump-Off-White-140735&cpncode=18-13144742-2&srccode=cii_9324560&GCID=C16122×006&style=140735&KeyCode=SMJQ993

Since my toes are SO not cute I’d rather go with a closed toe, so if anyone has any suggestions for kittentastic heels with a closed toe (or wee peep toe) I’m so there! :)

I definitely agree with the vote for a kitten heel! It would go wonderfully with your vintage dress (which is fabulous btw).

I’m definitely feeling the two shoes linked above more than the flats. Like your hair piece, they dress up the look a little more. Those flats are totally adorable, but may be not right for the overall look. (Rehearsal dinner, perhaps?)

Sigh… Clinton is SO CUTE.

Love the MIA Sweetheart pump you linked to above — and not just because I’m such a cheapo and they’re on sale ($28.99, you can’t beat that)!

Ms. Dahlia’s suggestion is adorable too…

Those shoes are adorable but I think you should dress it up a little more for your wedding day. I agree with most of the other commenters- some kitten heels would really kick the look up a notch!

I definitely agree with everyone that you should do a kitten heel at least. You can throw on the flats later on in the evening. I also agree with a mary jane for a fun vintage look. I think you should go for a complimenting color to add a little more as well. (Not too bright, you don’t want to distract) just the right amount of umph.

This is what I’m probably wearing….http://www.piperlime.com/browse/product.do?cid=19850&pid=576968&scid=576968012

The ones (in a different color and more $$$$) on Zappos got good reviews. I wanted something under 2″ but not completely flat. Free shipping & returns if you don’t like them.

I was going to suggest a low heeled peep toe to go with your vintage look. I LOVE the first shoes you linked to on myglassslipper! I think they would go with your whole look perfectly! I vote for those.

Best of luck!

This ensemble is going to be so cute! I’m loving the cream kitten heels, or even a soft bronze or something that will play off the color of your clutch. You’re going to look great!

I’m thinking something along the lines of this:

or this:

I think the peep toes are really cute, like the ones Miss CC most recently posted…they wouldn’t even necessarily have to show very much of your toes. Here’s another suggestion, in ivory or champagne.

I think it would look really elegant if you wore retro-style white peep-toe pumps and little white gloves too! It would match the style of the dress and the vintage-era charm. Maybe use the flats for the reception?
