Giving Thanks

July 9th, 2008 @ 5:36 pm by Mrs. Cream Puff

Now that we’ve got gifts rolling in (yay!!! so exciting!!!), our thank you notes are rolling out. I am really excited about our thank you notes, so I thought I’d share them with you guys sooner rather than later.

For my business, I started making cards out of plantable paper. This idea really excites me because it’s good for the environment (the paper is recycled) and it’s pretty (they grow into flowers). I think these cards are perfect for thank you cards, because our guests can plant them and be reminded of our wedding for years to come. :)

Here’s the front of the cards:

The note on the inside reads, “this card is embedded with wildflower seeds, and it will grow if you plant it in your garden! To plant the paper, prepare a pot of soil or a small patch of garden. Spread a thin layer of soil onto the paper. Water well and give plenty of sunshine! In 6-8 weeks, you’ll be reminded of how thankful we are to have you in our lives. Thank you! May these flowers bring you years of happiness.”

I hope people actually plant them! If not, the landfills will be a little bit more colorful in 6-8 weeks. :)

I love this idea! I do spokesperson work for an automotive company that often gives out a similar product as favors at events. People love them! Is the ink soy-based?

I’ve been drooling over plantable paper for quite some time, but it’s mucho expensive. I’d love to find out where you got yours! Invites seemed cost prohibative, but maybe some smaller thankyou notes would work…

This is FABULOUS - you go girl that is just awesome. I was not sure how I was going to do place cards as I didn’t want extra things people would throw away, you’ve given me an excellent source for place cards. Where do I get some?

i got my grandma a mother’s day card with a plantable paper decoration on it…she was totally thrilled by it. she planted it in a little pot and sure enough, she had little green sprouts when i visited her last month. it’s such a wonderful idea and people are so thrilled by it! :)

These are awesome cards. Yes, people do plant them because my cousin sent cards like this and everyone had the same flowers in their yard.

I was thinking about something like that as well but then I got this idea that I wanted to do flower pots and several seed packets for my wedding favors instead. Very affordable and “all things grow with love” <- totally using that as my favor theme!
if anyone wants the seeded paper you can order it from…

I love seed paper! Miss Cream Puff, do you have any tips on sourcing the paper? And what about the ink–comments about where/how you had it printed?

@Miss Cherry Pie: haagen-dazs, actually: it was an ad for their work to help bees
