Make My Decisions For Me

July 9th, 2008 @ 10:28 am by Mrs. Peacock

I like shoes. But looking for shoes for the wedding has been driving. me. crazy. I decided a while ago that my shoes would be my something blue. That plan has taken a nose dive as I have not been able to find one pair over the past year (aside from these blue Louboutins, but those weren’t a realistic option) that is the right shade, shape, height, etc. I have settled on gold shoes, possibly with a blue shoe clip to finish them off.

I bought one fancy pair that were about as close to perfect as they could get. They were a little more than I was planning to spend. As much as I loved how they looked and felt, the price didn’t sit very well with me. When I stumbled upon a pair of shoes that looked very similar to the first pair, I snapped them up. I am still undecided on which pair to keep.

I thought I would throw this out to the hive for a vote. I have attempted to black out the brands so as not to dissuade the brand conscious. Shoe sleuths- don’t give it away! Here they are…

Number 1 and Number 2

Number 1 (bottom) and Number 2 (top)

Number 2 and Number 1

Number 1

Number 2

Here is shoe #1 with a “clip” (a clip-on earring). Shoe #2 doesn’t work as well with the clip.

I took some pictures of them on my feet, but I think feet are icky and I couldn’t bring myself to post them here. What if you were eating and reading this at the same time?! :)

So, ladies- time to vote!

Shoe #2 and then paint the bottoms (soles) a pretty shade of blue!

2.
LaborDayBride says:

oh! and make sure you get double-sided tape for the insides of the actual strap. They tend to slide off your feet but the double-sided tape really helps the “sling back” stay back and not down! (regardless of which shoes you pick! :) they are both gorgeous and you will totally wear them again!

I’m right in the middle of wedding shoe searching too! It looks like you’ve got two great choices here!

My favorites are:
A. Shoe #1 with Clip
B. Shoe #2
C. Shoe #1 (no clip)

4.
Ashley says:

#2. But I definitely think that inexpensive is better. Think of where you could spend the extra money!

5.
lou says:

Honestly, there’s not much difference between them (and they’re both lovely) - so I would just go for the ones that are the most comfortable. You’re going to be in them all day, so you don’t want to be hating them within an hour.

If there’s not that much difference in comfort, then I’d go with shoe 1, if you’re really set on the clip. If not, I’d then go for the cheapest! I can’t see any difference in quality, so if the extra price isn’t going towards comfort, I wouldn’t bother!

6.
amysue says:

Go for the one that’s most comfortable. Agreed with Lou, though - I like #1; I like the shape of its heel and its simpler pattern, and the fact you can attach the clip.

7.
Casablancabride says:

I like #1 better by far, even without the shoe clip. That said, make sure the heel height is going to be comfortable for the whole day, especially if you are standing up during your entire ceremony. After our ceremony & formal pictures (about 2 hours total) my toes were a bit numb from my fabulous gold heels: http://tinyurl.com/5c8avw

Tassamai says:

I feel like I have to explain my answer. I like shoe number 2 better and when I saw shoe number 1 with the clip i actually thought it was really nice. If you’re not going to use a clip on the shoe then I choose 2 but if you are going to use a clip then 1.

I choose shoe number 2 for the poll. I hope that helps.

I don’t think you can go wrong–they’re both a great shoe! When all is said and done, can you let us know where you found these? The less expensive (#2, I think?) might be a good option for my bridesmaids. Thanks!!

Miss Avocado says:

I like the versatility that Shoe #1 provides with the clip-on earring option.

Kara says:

Just want to let you know that you CAN still go the blue route on a budget, if you really want to…

My shoes will be my something blue, too, and I was going INSANE trying to find the perfect pair. I drooled over the Louboutins too, to the point that my BMs were going to start a fund for me and give them to me at my shower, but the thought of wearing that much money on my feet made me want to throw up — it was a sweet thought by them, though!

Anyway, I ended up getting ivory Abby Touch Ups (so comfy!) from ShoeBuy.com and will be dying them blue, then finishing them off with vintage shoe clips from AbsolutelyAudrey.com.

Altogether, the shoes will cost about $100 (shoes = $35; dying = $35; clips = $25; grand total = $95 plus various taxes, etc).

But the gold shoes are lovely too! I like #2, but the shoe clip on #1 is really nice as well.

Jane Doe says:

No question in my mind… Shoe #1 w/ a nice blue jewel in the middle.
I, too, wanted the “something blue” for my shoes, so I opted for a nice pair of white shoes (with a great high heel and very low-priced - try Payless) and I just bedazzled it w/ blue jewels. I was worried it was going to look tacky, but it ended up better than I expected.

13.
MissBlueBear says:

I too pick Shoe #1 with the clip…if you are not using a clip, I would choose #2

14.
Caroline says:

I voted Shoe #1, but that was based entirely on the clip option. My favorites are just like Miss Pinot Noir’s: Shoe #1 with clip; then Shoe #2; then Shoe #1 without clip.

But like lots of folks have said — they’re very similar and both lovely, so if they’re both relatively comfortable, go for the cheaper option!

If you end up going with Shoe #1, please show us when you find the perfect clips!

15.
Bumble_dee says:

Agree with the rest. Shoe 1 looks plain without the clip. I can’t justify spending big money on something that doesn’t look expensive.

16.
Susan says:

Love LaborDayBrides’ suggestion…however, take my advice - you don’t see your wedding shoes. I now know this from experience…that I should not have shelled out the big bucks…b.c. it isn’t about the shoes (although it pains me to say this).

Be budget conscience…they are very similar!

17.
Miss Teacup says:

I think they are both lovely. If they are both comfortable, go with the cheaper one. Nobody but you is going to notice your shoes.

18.
Julieulie says:

If you’re not actively looking for the higher shoe, I say #2 based on the fact that it’s slightly lower. That 1/4 to 1/2 inch can make ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. I mean, I love love love me some heels, but wearing 3.25″ heels for 13 hours straight on my wedding day KILLED ME. Seriously, I haven’t been able to wear heels for more than 3-4 hours since, and my back still hurts. I’ve changed my motto — now, shorter is better!

19.
cab07 says:

I love shoe #1 - but I’m a shoe w.h.o.r.e and know who makes them =)

I generally find that brand to be really comfortable - even when the heel is a little on the higher side.

20.
MagPie518 says:

Looks like your decision is price versus comfort — because I eager with earlier readers who’ve noted the heel height difference. If the former is negligible, I’d make the latter your deciding factor — go with the smaller heel (or the chunkier one? hmmm…)

21.
tanya2s says:

I think #2 is prettier on its own, but #1 would lend itself better to a shoe clip.

22.
Fifi says:

I love #1, but like cab07, I also know what brand they are and I absolutely love how comfortable they are and how sexy the heel looks! :)

23.
elizabeth says:

So….I’m really biased, because I ordered Shoe #2 for my wedding this past Monday, but I just love it so. But neither seem too “wedding-y” so in theory you could wear either again, thus reducing the cost per wear…

The 3″ heel also was a nice compromise from my super-tall heel preference versus going with kitten heels that would just make me feel…short (which is crazy, as I am 5′10″!)

24.
Linda says:

I like #1, but I’m afraid they are too high to be comfortable for very long. If so go with #2.

25.
SKM says:

I like #1 — the heel is my favorite.
I like how #2 appears to sit lower on the toes.
Tough choice…but I vote #1.

26.
KateMW says:

As far as looks go…
#2
#1
#1 w/ the clip.

But I really vote for which ever is the most comfortable!

Miss Peacock says:

Thank you all for your votes/comments. You all rule! Hopefully one will come out on top, the vote is very close! Both are very comfortable. Shoe #1’s comfort makes up for the heal. They weigh almost nothing. I might try and wear them around for a bit tonight and see how it goes.

@Casablancabride: Hot shoes! I love the henna, too.
@kj1025: I will definitely post the brands in the comments after I make my decision. If you would like them now, email me at peacock@weddingbee.com
@Kara: Thank you for the suggestion! I haven’t looked into dying them yet.
@cab07: Haha! You are right, they are more comfortable, even with the heal.

28.
Annie says:

They look SO similar that I’d go with the cheaper one. Honestly, your shoes will barely show, and it’s just not worth it. A good friend of mine bough Jimmy Choo’s for her wedding day and they KILLED her feet (she’d already worn them twice to break them in), and she will readily admit they weren’t worth the money b/c no one noticed or cared that she was wearing designer shoes. I do like the fact that #1 works well with the clips (you have super cute clips posted on your other blog, and they’d all look great!). Honestly, go for comfy and cheap, that’s my vote.

29.
Angie says:

I love the heel on #1 but the front of #2.
Good luck (right now the votes are 50/50!)

30.
cake says:

ooh can you please tell me where #1 came from? Thinking I would LOVE to wear the same ones on my day! :) THanks!

31.
krys says:

My choices are the same as Miss Pinot’s:
1. #1 with clip
2. #2
3. #1 w/o clip

32.
MissCamera says:

#1. I’m not a fan of the braiding on #2, but of course, that’s my own personal preference. And think of the endless options of clips to adorn shoe number 1!!!

My vote is #1, definitely. Good luck! Looks like the bees are split evenly on this one.

33.
mdarrah says:

They both look great. If you are set on adding a clip, then go with #1. Otherwise go with the more affordable or more comfortable pair. PLEASE dont anyone take this the wrong way, but I think this is one of those times where you (as most brides seem to do) aren’t seeing the forest for the trees. I am sure that somewhere in that pretty little head is the reality that they are both beautiful shoes and it really wont make a bit of difference. Just wanted to highlight that thought.

34.
miss teaberry says:

I think shoe #2 is prettier and I like the lower heel. It seems from the other comments that #2 are less expensive, I would go with that pair if I were you. Just make sure you are happy with them and they are comfy because these definitely are shoes that you can wear again!

35.
haliwood says:

I can’t vote…let me explain! Both shoes are truly lovely. When it comes down to it, I think you’ll enjoy both of them. Therefore, my vote is for whichever shoe is the inexpensive one! Save the extra money from returning the pricy one, or spend it on something else!!

37.
michca says:

Shoe #1! That’s my wedding shoe. I don’t usually
wear such a high heel but you are right, they are
very light and comfortable. But I also had issues
with the price. So, if you like #2 just as much,
then go with the cheaper option. Heaven knows
I looked far and wide for something cheaper that
was similar and that I liked equally well.

38.
AliCherri1 says:

I voted for Shoe #1 also… although I’m not sure how I feel about the clip-on.

39.
Janna says:

One thing about expensive shoes is that they are often super comfy. I got gifted a pair by my now hubby for my last birthday - yep, he bought me my wedding shoes. He had no idea what I wanted, but they were perfect. I put them on at 4 PM and didn’t take them off until midnight!! One thing to consider when choosing as they are both lovely…..And since you are getting gold, you can wear them a lot after the wedding and enjoy the splurge :)

40.
Carol says:

Shoe #1 with the clip on looks nice!

41.
lindsaywillman says:

shoe clips hurt!! talking from experience.

and no one’s going to know they’re there unless you’re hiking your dress up all night. and if that’s the case, you MOH should be removing the booze from you pretty little paws.

if you love the clip, consider using if only for a foot shot during your photo session, but not wearing it the entire night. or place the clip on your bouquet wrap. best wishes.

42.
Katie says:

#2…because I’ve had my eyes on those forever and think I’m going to get them as my wedding shoes!

43.
Nicole R. says:

#2 looks more expensive, and I usually have expensive taste, so that would be funny if I was right. They are both very nice, but I especially love #2.

44.
peridot83 says:

#2..such a pretty woven pattern! Unless #1, is super more comfortable or you need super high shoes

45.
sp says:

i voted for #2 only because it was the lower heel.
if there’s a big price difference, i would go with the cheaper one. if not, the more comfy one.

There appears to be a winner, although 54-46 isn’t terribly convincing :) My mom just told me that she loved #1, and she counts for a few points in the spread. Thank you all again for your input and your votes. I needed an outside opinion and I got a whole hive’s worth!

47.
Jessica says:

I love #1! But, they are SOOO similar, I would personally go with the least expensive one. I’m not too big on the clip either. But…they are BOTH gorgeous, with or without the clip, and you can’t go wrong! Good taste!

48.
heartpullwest says:

why don’t you just buy white shoes and have them dyed to the shade you want? It sounds like you really had your heart set on it, and this would probably be the best way to go.

49.
Janna19 says:

Which is which??

50.
hwong14 says:

I agree with Miss Pinot Noir:
Favorite: #1 with clip (that’s why I voted for #1, assuming you’d have a clip)
Then #2, then #1 with no clip. I’m guessing the heel height for either is OK and that’s not an issue?
