Martha Love

July 9th, 2008 @ 2:25 pm by Mrs. Espresso

I am lovin’ the new Martha. I have a feeling that many of the ideas from the summer issue are going to show up in the Espresso Wedding. It has even inspired me to trek on over to The Home Depot this weekend for my first DIY project- a tiered cupcake stand…stay tuned for craziness.

In addition, take a look at the fun program idea below- Love it! What a great way to entertain your guests while waiting for the wedding to start, especially since many weddings start a bit late. After reading it, I found out that I fell from the Fig tree- which happens to be one of the nicer descriptions and one of my favorite candle scents, so yay! Click here for the template and to see which tree you fell from. I love the Olive tree description of you lucky people born on September 23rd.

Do you plan on having a little entertainment before the ceremony starts? If so, please share!

Hi there,

Just wanted to let you know about this website for the cupcake stands if you don’t want to build them yourself. You can always paint and decorate it so you can get your DIY out of your system :-)

We are using the druid tree from Martha too! Unfortunately our program was smaller and it was a PAINNNNNN to resize the template and put it in our program. In hindsight I would have never used this idea :(. It is done though and I hope my guests will enjoy it!!

My tree says ‘waiting for one true love’ … so don’t think I’ll be using it at my wedding! :)

Just noticed there is not February 29th (for the leap year babies!) So anyone that uses this may want to photoshop the Feb. 28th into a feb 29th! Just thought it was worth mentioning!

I’ve always loved my tree (weeping willow) and the description is just about on target! Thanks for sharing.

The tree is PERFECT for my wedding - it has him and I falling from the same tree, mentions philosophy (I’m a psychology major - we’re similar!) and scientific knowledge (he loves sci fi). Have I mentioned I am your BIGGEST fan?

We had a crossword puzzle in our program, and supplied custom-printed pencils. The grid fit nicely in our square programs; the clues…surely an 8.5-point font should be fine, right? We also printed a couple of lines of the lyrics of all the pre-service music, and we have more pictures of people following along with that than we do of people doing the puzzle.

We had our cocktail hour before our ceremony, which definitely kept our guests entertained!

Cute template.

We did Wedding Party Trivia on the last page of our program. Things like “Who nicknamed herself Berry a la Strawberry Shortcake?” and “Who just finished a bellydancing class?”

It was a big hit.

We’re planning on putting a word Jumble puzzle in our programs. When we were dating, FI and I would do the puzzles together when we were both at home, and when we were apart at our different colleges, we would do the daily puzzle online together while chatting on AOL instant messenger!

How can you copy this image to format it to your own program? I am having problems. Has anyone else been able to do this?
