And Now, The Good News!

July 10th, 2008 @ 2:10 pm by Mrs. Sundae

First of all, thank you so much for the helpful comments and band suggestions! The outpouring of support never ceases to amaze me. We still haven’t reached a resolution but I’ll be sure to let you know how it turns out. In the meantime, I finally have some good news to share. ;)

Last weekend I had yet another makeup trial…and I couldn’t have been happier with the results! I found Marla online and I think she might be one of the nicest people on the planet. You know how, when you’re frequently dealing with a lot of people in the wedding industry who seem pretty blah, whenever someone with a personality and sense of humor comes along, it’s like a breath of fresh air? That’s exactly how I felt. Marla is totally professional, understood what I wanted immediately but wasn’t at all opposed to making changes, and is just a wealth of information! She even taught me how to properly trim my eyebrows (which I didn’t know enough to even realize needed trimming. I shall be happy to provide a tutorial if you’re all interested) ;)

But anyway, the makeup. I am questioning my sanity in posting this first picture but it’s just necessary to see how well things turned out. So here I am, completely sans-makeup and complete with stupid hairdo. Be gentle…

And here I am after Marla worked her magic:
Whoo! We’re going to go a little lighter on the eyeliner the day-of…she said that we would go step-by-step that day to be sure everything is just right. She used smudge-proof everything, and a foundation that made my skin look great but didn’t feel at all cakey (I don’t remember what it was, sorry).

And here is the makeup, almost 5 hours later, looking almost exactly the same:
Why do I make such stupid faces when I take pictures of myself? I look like I am about to fall asleep in that last one. But anyway, I can’t tell you what a relief this is! The lesson learned is that even if you have some bad trials, don’t give up. There are people out there who know what they’re doing!

You look cute in your sans makeup photo and STUNNING in your after photos…seriously, you look so GREAT…you remind me of Adrianne (sp?) Curry (the winner of Top Model that married Peter Brady).

I know you said you are going lighter on the eyeliner the day of, but I think it looks just perfect the way it is…you have model eyes! So beautiful…makes me excited for my make up trial now!

Wow!!! She did an amazing job using colors that really compliment your skin/hair!! I agree–I would leave the eyeliner as is, it really makes your eyes POP without being too dark. Could you post the makeup products/colors she used?

Isn’t that the easiest off your face but still down hairdo ever! Love the makeup, way to keep trying until you find what you want!

Wow! You look fantastic, but it also looks really natural. I went from the before picture to the after picture and just thought you were in different light until I looked a little closer and WOW great job. Congratulations on finding somebody you like who is so talented.

BTW, you look good w/o makeup too!

you have such great skin even without makeup. she did a fantastic job with the makeup but maybe she can add more oomph to it? sometimes e-pics/wedding pics come out so much better when you have a heavier set of makeup on.

You look beautiful. Your eyes really pop, I don’t know that you need to cut back on the eyeliner at all. I think it was worth all the bad makeup trials to get this one. Totally gorg!

I’d love the eyebrow cutting tutorial, too.

I would so appreciate it if you could give more details on contacting her - thank you!!

I am sorry you had a bad trial, Jill! I had two bad trials, so hang in there. Marla is in Chicago but she’s traveling up to Lake Geneva for our wedding. There are some travel fees involved but I can assure you she’s worth every penny!

Good luck!
