Shower #2

July 10th, 2008 @ 11:35 am by Mrs. Tiramisu

Two of my Mom’s best friends threw me a bridal shower in Maine this past weekend. It was wonderful, and I was so much more relaxed than at the first shower I had, since I actually knew everyone in attendance at this one!

It had all the ingredients for a perfect shower…

Great gifts (and optimistic guests who think Miss Tiramisu turning into
Mrs. Tiramisu might mean she finally learns how to cook).

A lingerie-giving grandmother. Who cracked everyone up by complaining about all the attention she gets now that she receives Victoria’s Secret catalogs in the mail at her senior apartment complex.

A diligent present-recording, favor-creating best friend/bridesmaid.

The adorable favors (28 plants were potted and 28 signs were gocco’ed, despite the fact that said best friend and favor-creator moved into a new house this week and is planning her own September wedding!). Just amazing, Kate.

Lots of food, including two yummy desserts that doubled as a second cake tasting. They’re from the same bakery, and are two of the three flavors we’re ordering for our wedding cake: lemon with fresh blueberries and chocolate with raspberry and chocolate ganache filling = YUM.

And perhaps in the not totally necessary category is my adorable Mom’s ever changing theme tree… which changes with the seasons, and is currently all decked out for wedding season:

Look closely- even Duncan the schnauzer made the cut.

All together now, “awww”. How cute are Moms?

Two wonderful showers, one lucky feeling bride-to-be. And I think this might officially be the end of the pre-wedding festivities.

What sorts of celebrating before the wedding is everyone else doing?

My mom also has a “holiday” tree…I’ll have to suggest “wedding” as a possible theme. You may have just made her day. You certainly made me laugh.

That’s really sweet. I can’t help feeling a little jealous - is anyone else living so far away from friends and family such that they’re not expecting a shower or other pre-wedding parties? Our guests are all traveling to the wedding since everyone is so spread out and there aren’t even enough concentrated for a shower. It’s enough to make me a little sad…am I just really selfish? Maybe…lol.

I don’t think I’ll get much more celebrating that my bacheleorette party. My family is spread out across the country and we won’t be all together until the wedding. Now I’m sad. I want a shower!

I’m so sad I missed the event! My mouth was watering at the lemon blueberry cake. And Kate - you are awesome. Those plants are such an adorable, creative and useful gift. So fun!
