About Mrs. Flamingo

Merci Beaucoup

July 11th, 2008 @ 4:12 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

We had a wonderful wedding, and it’s true when they say “It’s the best day of your life.” Our guests were extremely impressed with everything and we were so happy to share it with them. They deserved a nice Thank You Card at the very least for the compliments and their generous wedding gifts. So I went ahead and designed these:

Front

Back

Though we had both French and English invitations, I didn’t want to have the hassle of 2 languages for our thank yous, so I simply wrote a “Merci”. I think the English speaking guests will get the point. Right?

I receive VistaPrint offers and took advantage of the FREE postcard offer. I downloaded the template on my computer and designed the card. I put the Merci on the back where you would generally write a message on a postcard, and the chandelier on the front. When I received the cards they were perfect with only a little technicality - the front is glossy so I have to write using a ball point or permanent pen. So if you happen to use Vista print postcards, make sure you place the part of there card where you want to write on the back of the postcard and not the front. :)

So here is the tally of our thank you card costs:

Thank you card design : FREE
Printing: FREE
Card shipping: 22.37$
Envelopes (4×6) : 19.80$
Shipping of env. (combined with invitation env.) approx 5,00$
——————-
47.17$ for 100 thank you cards.
A big : 0.47$ per card.

Now I just have to buy a pen or two and start thanking away. I just hope it won’t take me all summer.

How long did it take you to send out your thank you cards?

I love how you’ve carried your design through all aspects of your stationery.

My wedding isn’t until September but I plan on getting those thank-you cards out the week between coming back from our honeymoon (destination still to be determined) and heading back to work.

We got them all done during the honeymoon–we thought we’d be really fancy and mail them from Estonia, but the airmail stamp turned out to be the Rotary International logo. Nothing against Rotary, they’re fine people and do a lot of nice things, but…

I sat down the Monday after we got married and wrote all but like 5 of them. It was exhausting! But worth it because I felt like a good bride and a big weight had been lifted from my shoulders. We still have gifts trickling in here and there and it is much harder to gear up to write those than it was to write out about 75 of them in one sitting.
Good luck!

It took me about 3 weeks. I did 10 or less a day to help make it less painful. Otherwise I think I would start to grow too tired of them and they would not be very heartfelt.

47 cents is amazing, and they really look professionally done. Er, I guess they were, technically. Nice job!

Great thank you notes! The hubby and I finished our thank you notes a week and a half ago… and today is our one month anniversary. So, we got them out pretty fast!

When are you posting pictures? It is killing me to wait on your wedding recaps!

Haha - I guess I’m the only one that took almost the entire year!! I got all the thank-yous of folks that actually came to the wedding done rather quickly. It was the ‘reception’ we had a month later - those I didn’t finish until like a month before our 1 year anniversary. Opps! Oh well - at least they got done!

I did get a couple wedding gifts on our one year anniversary - I got those thank-yous done pretty quickly :)
