Daffodil Day Part I: Make Me Pretty

July 14th, 2008 @ 4:18 pm by Mrs. Daffodil

I was saving this post for my recaps, but since a lot of you have been private messaging me with questions about my hair and makeup, I thought I’d just put this one out there first! For those of you who want to see the final product, feel free to scroll to the bottom (the vendor review and details on the ’do are coming tomorrow!)…and the rest of you can follow along as we begin to retrace what was truly one of the happiest days of our lives! smiley1

The morning began a little past 6 AM with our hair and makeup artist knocking on our hotel room door. She was so on time that she showed up almost an hour early, to ensure there was enough time to set up her station and get everyone prettied up! In a somewhat disoriented state, I answered the door. I had gone to bed at 2:30 AM the night before (definitely not a “bridal best practice” to follow smiley3), and the adrenaline had not yet kicked in. I must’ve been the first sleepy-eyed bride she ever encountered smiley4. Shortly afterward, some of my bridesmaids showed up with breakfast.

Here I am enjoying my daily “elixir of life” aka Diet Coke, and a plain piece of wheat toast. This is also the obligatory before pic. By this time, I was actually awake, though I don’t think it had quite sunk in that today would be my wedding day!

In a matter of minutes, the corner of our hotel room was amazingly transformed from an ordinary workstation into a full-service beauty salon…

Our stylist started with my maidens of honor aka Sisters Daffodil #1 and #2. Here they are, with their hair all done up. Loved their hair!!

Mommy Daffodil also got done up as well. smiley1 I thought my mom looked especially lovely that day!

After my other bridesmaids were done, it was suddenly my turn. I can’t believe I’m getting ready for my wedding day!! Just getting started with my makeup here…

z15448103

It was quite an experience having so many people surrounding you with oohs and ahhs…I must admit I was a little overwhelmed. This must be how movie stars feel!

Once the makeup was done, it was on to the hair!

z154692

I ordered these orchids from my florist to put in my hair along with my “yummy” Haute Bride hairpins.

z154693

Putting in the finishing touches…

z154694

Just waiting on my veil now…

z15448104

And voila, you have an all prettied up bridal me! smiley4 I looked in the mirror…and woah, I think it started to sink in right then!

An “awww, let’s-document-every-moment-of-the-day!” shot with five out of eight of my bridesmaids…

And now we’re ready to head over to the church! Today really is the day!! smiley1

To be continued…
