Something Recycled

July 14th, 2008 @ 6:55 pm by Mrs. Cookie

I love the feel of candlelight! To me, it brings adjectives of elegance and romance to mind! I can just imagine Mr. Cookie and I dancing to “Songbird” by Eva Cassidy in the flickering light! *sighs*

My mom is a wedding coordinator for her church — meaning that depending on the couple she becomes a de-facto DOC. Apparently, the bride at the wedding she was coordinating over the weekend was giving way all the candles from her wedding way for FREE! My mom immediately called me to see if I wanted them to which I replied an enthusiastic, “YES!” Yesterday, she brought over these babies — 100 barely used candles.

It just seems like such a waste if these landed in the garbage! Now they will be put to good use again, and light another wedding with little flickers of joy! He He!

Are you using any recycled items in your wedding?

kudos to that bride who passed them along.

great windfall!

a pretty small thing, but we reused car decals from a wedding Mr Popcorn was in, and subsequently passed them along on freecycle.

my brother bought these gorgeous vases for their wedding 2 years ago, and my cousin just used them in june. my fiance and i are thinking about using a few as part of our centerpieces as well.. it’s becoming kind of a tradition i guess!

Not explicitly but 3 brides in our areas are pulling money together to buy vases and we’ll use them for all 3 of our weddings! ;)

Same thing happened to me - a work colleague gave me all the candles from her daughter’s wedding! Her husband was trying to make her throw them out, but she couldn’t bear the thought of the waste - so I scored! Some of them are really big pillar candles, and barely burnt too.

That’s awesome! Also, Mr. Chickadee & I danced to Songbird for our first song! Sadly, we had no gently flickering candles. That’ll be so gorgeous Miss Cookie!

that’s an awesome recycled find! (also kind of handy, as i’ve found that candles that have already been lit once take a lot less time to re-light!)

I am using my brother’s votives and some vases for my center pieces and cocktail hour decor. I’m also using their greeting card holder and perhaps the cake cutting set.
