Third Time is the Charm

July 14th, 2008 @ 9:30 am by Mrs. Tiramisu

Three make-up trials, two hair trials, and finally- one happy bride-to-be!

Thank you all for your suggestions on my makeup trials! I was fully prepared to be doing my own makeup on the big day, but now I am so relieved to have found someone to do it for me so that I can just relax!

After all of my frustration with the first two trials, I was cautiously hopeful about this last one. My hairdresser, Colleen, did my hair from the time I was 14 until my freshman year of college. During that time she welcomed two beautiful babies in to her family, and had considerably cut back the hours of her salon, which she runs out of her home. I didn’t think to call her right away, since I had lost touch with her and didn’t know if she was still available for weddings, especially since mine would mean traveling about an hour away. It was on the drive home from one of my disastrous trials that I searched in my cell phone to see if her number was even still there. It was, I called, and that’s when I started to feel much better about the whole thing.

So on to the trial! Colleen is one of those people who just makes you feel so awesome about yourself and life in general. From her cheerful, “hello, beautiful!” when you walk in the door, to her never-ending supply of heartfelt compliments and witty words of wisdom, she is just such a joy to be around. I’m so excited that she’ll be the one preparing me on my wedding day! Here are the photos that I showed her. I wanted to try a half-up option, as well as an up-do

Here’s the first option she came up with:

And the required “here I am seven hours later” photo (lipstick is gone but I think otherwise it’s okay):Third Time is the Charm : wedding hair maine makeup Img 029
And a teensy tiny look at the dress with each just because I love you guys (and don’t worry, I’m not a total psycho and didn’t bring my dress to the salon- we took a break in between the two options so we could tell how the curls would hold up so I went home for a bit):Third Time is the Charm : wedding hair maine makeup Img 026Third Time is the Charm : wedding hair maine makeup Img 02801

When she first did my hair down I was loving it and thought that was it. Then she did it up and I changed my mind. It’s hard to decide because I had my makeup on (which I really liked) by the time she did the second trial, but I did feel more bridal with it all up. So now I’m almost certain I’ll go with the second option.

So hive, what do you think? Down? Up? Makeup perfecto? With one week to go, the indecision has got to stop!

Ooh you look SO pretty! I love both hairstyles, but the updo just seems more bridal to me. It looks really elegant and lovely. Congrats on a successful trial– you look beautiful!

You look beautiful and I can’t wait to see pics of the rest of your dress in a few weeks. I too loved both, but the up-do is just so sophisticated and lovely. I’d vote up! You can wear it down like that on your honeymoon or any other night.

The makeup is perfect- so happy you found someone you like

Your makeup looks fantastic, I would add just a tad more color to the lips though. And I think the updo is gorgeous– love it! For some reason I think it looks better with your dress (from what I can see of it anyway).

Yay! for one more thing crossed off the list!

I’m definitely loving the updo the best. It shows off your pretty earrings and shoulders. I’m so happy you found someone that will work.

The up-do compliments your face shape beautifully… definitely go with that one! And the 1/4 inch of the dress looks amazing… I cannot wait to see the whole thing!!!!

I’m 100% for up! Down looks more beachy casual, and I don’t think you’re going for that.

I absolutely loooove what I can see of your dress.

you look gorgeous!! I’m in agreement with the hive! Do the updo! While I like the down-do also, the updo shows your face more. Also I like the updo for practical reasons. It’s been really hot and humid in New England lately. You’ll definitely appreciate the updo on your wedding day. It’s all up and out of the way!

UP UP UP!!! You look gorgeous. The hair down do was beautiful but it looked like your curls were just going to fall out or flatten.
I agree with Toucan. Being a CT girl, I know I really need to consider the humidity. Maine is not any better… if not worse… and then there is the wind.

Your makeup was gorgeous!
