Yum Yum, Dim Sum!

July 14th, 2008 @ 1:33 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

Obviously, I cannot stop talking about food, so you can see why most of our budget is going towards edibles. On Friday, I talked about the reception menu. Today it’s time to drool over our Dim Sum brunch!

We are planning to serve Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Chive Cakes, Radish Cakes, Fried Pork Vegetable Dumplings, Chicken Celery Dumplings, Shanghai Style Dumplings, Fried Green Beans Szechuan Style, Fried Rice with Vegetables, and Deluxe Mixed Vegetable Chow Mein. Mmm mmm! Okay, I’m drooling now.

Since we are already doing our reception the night before at a restaurant, we wanted our post-wedding brunch to offer something fun and different. I think our guests will have fun eating family style and we’ll have fun getting to spend one more meal with them :)

Are you doing a post-wedding brunch? If so, what kind of food are you serving?

mmmm… brunch…

brunch is hands down my *favorite* meal. sadly, most of our out of town guests have early flights back to the east coast or europe, so no organized going-away brunch, but we may sneak off for a romantic brunch to celebrate. :)

Mmmmm …. dim sum ….
We’re doing a destination wedding, so will have to see about an after-wedding brunch. I would love to see everyone one last time before the guests depart, so will see what creative ways we could do this!

Mmm… that looks great!

We’re looking to make the day-after as simple as possible, since we all will have had a big dinner the day before and we really just want to spend some QT with visiting family/friends. We were originally going to have bagels and some fruit, but then we decided that brunch was out because we didn’t want to have to rush out of the hotel to set up. So now we’re going to have an “open house” in the afternoon with some drinks and snacks on hand - very informal. Primarily people will be dropping by on their way out of town.

@Erin: The only thing that I regret about the planned brunch is that I can’t order room service and enjoy breakfast in bed the morning after the wedding. That is a great idea for the day after! We’re having guests over or an open house the day before the wedding for our rehearsal BBQ, but I like your idea better :)

The resort in washington that I work at does a lot of weddings and the post-wedding brunch is always one of my favorite wedding-related events. Everyone is always so relaxed, the bride and groom are just glowing, and it’s like this last big hurrah together. Your menu has me happy that i decided to bring a vegetable eggroll Lean Cuisine to work today. Nothing like what you will be serving, but it has curbed my appetite for now.

@Miss Green Tea: I also like dim sum because it doesn’t cost a fortune ;)

We were going to do dim sum too (still may), but we’re worried that our vegan/vegetarian friends won’t have enough to eat so we might just do normal Chinese lunch (noodles, etc). Yum, dim sum though!

@C: We are pescatarians and GB 2.0 is allergic to shrimp so we are used to not having much to choose from with dim sum. Luckily, we found a place that has several veggie options and then we are supplementing the dim sum items with vegetables, fried rice and noodles, just to make sure that no vegetarians starve :)

@GorgesViola: I’m sad I missed you too! You can watch over an hour of “highlights” though it’s not as fun as actually chatting live.
