The Details on the ‘Do!

July 15th, 2008 @ 6:14 pm by Mrs. Daffodil

…and a raving vendor review!  Some of you may recall the nightmare of a trial I had back in March! Well, I never got to post about the trial I went to after that, but as you can tell, I loved it and chose this artist… or rather, this company! I’ll admit they are not the most affordable (though they are definitely comparable), but I am a very strong believer in “you get what you pay for”… and when it comes to professionalism, style, and quality, they were AWESOME and certainly worth every penny! Which, on a day like my wedding day, was absolutely priceless smiley10102.

As you saw from yesterday’s post, the above photo was the finished product! What I loved was not only how my hair turned out, but also my makeup (if not more so!). My original makeup artist that I dinged took 3.5 hours to do everything. This one? About an hour for both hair and makeup.

Here’s a closeup…

During my trial with this artist, all I did was tell her the overall feel I was going for, and she worked her magic! In fact, at my trial, she did both of my eyes differently so I could see two different styles and let me choose. This is a photo from back on my trial day, which was only a mere two weeks before the wedding, believe it or not!

Haha, I feel like having two eyes done completely differently with makeup makes me look a bit cartoonish! I had originally planned to blog about this and have you all help me decide, but just with how hectic everything was at that point, I just decided to tell her I wanted something in between. Which I think turned out perfectly! smiley3022

And when it came down to doing hair, she definitely knew what she was doing. It was a much cleaner yet romantic look!

As promised, here are a few wedding day images that show the details on how the ’do turned out all the way around!

So who was my amazing artist? smiley4019

I went with an Orange-county based company called Design Visage, that specializes in on-site wedding hair and makeup in the Southern California area. They have a team of about twelve stylists, all which have had a ton of experience! I loooooved my artist, Dana… She was absolutely amazing when it came to both make-up and hair, and I just absolutely loved loved loved not only her work but also just her friendly and warm personality! And from what I hear from other brides, their entire team is like that!

What was also great was just how responsive, accommodating, and on top of things they were. While I’ve been lucky to have had pretty great vendors for the most part, there were definitely a few that kept me hanging or rarely returned calls (which I ultimately ding-ed). Plus, planning a wedding in LA from Northern California put some constraints on my calendar. Given my challenges in scheduling and just in finding a stylist who could really deliver, it was a blessing and just refreshing to finally find Design Visage. I truly felt like a beautiful bride. In fact, after seeing my hair and makeup, one of my bridesmaids immediately hired Design Visage for her own August wedding at the request of her fiance!

Thank you SO MUCH, Dana and Design Visage, for making me really feel so beautiful on what was truly one of the bestest special-est days of my life! I can’t thank you enough! smiley10102
