Color My Crinoline!

Ok, hive I need your opinion.

I have been trying to decide what color to dye my crinoline. At first, I was leaning toward a color that matched our wedding palette. Then I wanted something really vibrant and unexpected. If I had a favorite color it might be orange, but my favorite color changes so often I can’t really go that route either.

Here are the dye options:

(here is a reminder of what my gown looks like)

What color do you think I should dye my crinoline?

I would dye it which ever colour matches your sash best - that would be so cute!

Peonies and Polaroids says:

Scarlet! It would be the best pop of colour! And if not scarlet, fuchsia, they’re the two that stand out the most to me, everything else is a bit sedate!

I like tangerine. It’s orange, which you would like and it looks like it would go with the sash on the dress. I personally would pick aqua, but that’s just me!

My vote is for Tangerine!

shibaby says:

If you have to dye it, I’d do it a color that matches the rest of the wedding!

Fuchsia!!

7.
jen says:

Tangerine or Orange! Doesn’t that match your wedding colors and envelope lining? I love aqua too though.

I’m wondering what kind of wedding dress you have? Is it of substantial fabric? If you dye your crinoline will it show through the dress and make your dress seem orange (or whichever shade) in color?

I LOVE the idea of a little flash of color while you’re dancing and whatnot, but I wouldnt want it to detract from the overall look of your dress.

Golden Yellow. Something different than your coopery goodness, and a nod to your pineapple alter-ego!

Sharmeen says:

Golden Yellow!

Missy says:

I almost wanna say green to go even bolder!

How fun!! Some brides over at kvetch.indiebride.com have also dyed their crinolines. I say Evening Blue, or Aqua for two reasons: 1) it will complement your champagne colored dress beautifully, and 2) it will be your “something blue”!

shannamt says:

Go orange (or some shade of)! It is bold and even if it isn’t always your favorite you should at least always like it since it was your favorite at that point in your life.

I like pink or turquoise… a popping color.. but orange too is good and fits in your color scheme.

15.
Michelle says:

Auaqua!! It’s bold, unexpected, and it’d be an awesome “something blue”

16.
Michelle says:

scarlett, tangerine or aqua! In that order… Ilove the idea of a bold unexpected color!!!

17.
Ashley says:

Aqua! I second all the thoughts on the surprise color, and to have your something blue be THAT bold. Well, that’d just be fantastic!

18.
Susan says:

BTW I had a hard time dying my underskirt - I followed directions, used the Rit Dye and nada.

So a word to the wise - big a BOLD and beautifully bright color!

19.
Jennifer says:

tangerine! :-D

20.
Donna says:

I like Aubergine and Wine as they will nicely compliment your sash and the shade of white in your dress. I’d recommend choosing a complimentary color, brights may clash with the tones of the dress and look too stark.

21.
Christine says:

I vote for evening blue!
Please let us know how it works out. I just discovered this idea the other day. And I am so excited to try this for myself! Are you going to do the washing machine method?

22.
Eims says:

Tangerine!

23.
Becky says:

I just had to comment… we have the same dress! My wedding palate included dark chocolate brown, and classic red. Both colors really compliment that dress.

Here’s a tip: If you want a strong color, use 3 boxes of RIT dye. It’ll turn out deep instead of light. I used 3 boxes of the fuschia and loved my crini!!

abby says:

another vote for tangerine!

26.
glitterbug says:

I like the wine :)

27.
V says:

Tangerine! It goes with your colors…you don’t really want any other if it doesn’t match or compliments.

Fucia!

29.
AliCherri1 says:

Tangerine! or wine, but my BIG vote is for Tangerine!

30.
NSTAR says:

I like Tangerine and the Golden Yellow!

31.
Shawn says:

I’m going to vote for Aqua, isn’t that the opposite on the color wheel or did I just fail art class?

32.
Priscilla P says:

GOLDEN YELLOW!!! I GOING TO USE BLACK ON MINE HEHEHEHE

33.
turtle says:

Aqua! I think in part I associate that with you because you look so great in your blue sweater on your profile pic.

34.
linzmariedesigns says:

Do you have your something blue? If not, dyeing this blue would be kinda neat!

35.
Tdot says:

I would def. say blue for two reasons:

1) its my fav!

2) like an earlier comment, I have heard a lot on other sites I visit (I think indie bride had the topic last) about colors ultimately showing through the dress. I would certainly try holding a fabric of whatever color you choose up against the dress as a test run before dying your underdo’s

but back to the reason 2 I said blue, blue is a deep color that goes well with white, and a little bit of a deeper blue showing through the white won’t be dramatic and noisy and noticeable - it may just enhance the look!

36.
Groomzilla says:

…I’m going for tie-dye myself……

37.
princesssarahann says:

Tangerine! It would complement your dress well, plus give that unexpected touch you are looking for.

38.
brendalynn says:

tangerine! love the color, & it goes with your coppery wedding!

39.
Catherine says:

I think you should go Aubergine or Teal…either would be somewhat complementary to the coppery colors! :)

40.
Mrs. SKI says:

Rose Pink or to be really bold do the Fuchsia. I have to say I never thought of doing this but your post has inspired me. Since Fuchsia is the “hot” color in my palette, I am gonna do Fuchsia to surprise everyone!

41.
melodicsighs1 says:

i would do aqua, but i think tangerine would be good for your tastes and fit your dress a bit better.

42.
pancakes says:

I love the tangerine! I’d do that myself if I end up wearing a crinoline.
