Gifts for the Groomsmen

July 17th, 2008 @ 4:21 pm by Mrs. Toucan

While I pretty much bought all my attendants’ gifts early, Mr. Toucan, well… didn’t. He wanted to find something really good for them, but was having a really hard time finding what exactly that was…

Around mid-March, I decided to help Mr. Toucan out. My favorite t-shirt store, Threadless was having a “Spring Cleaning Sale,” and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy one of these shirts for each of the groomsmen (and also one for my groom!):

As you can imagine, like Mr. Toucan, his dearest friends are pretty big gamers themselves. They all got a kick out of the t-shirts, and at $9 each, it was a definite score!

After this purchase, I had decided to let Mr. Toucan figure out the rest of the groomsmen’s gifts. Unfortunately, Mr. T still had a really hard time finding the perfect gift for his best friends. Week after week, month after month, he would come up with a great idea, only to find out that for some reason, the idea just didn’t work. For example, he thought of getting all of his groomsmen some fancy shades, and then realized 3 of the 4 wore glasses on a daily basis. He thought of beer of the month club, until he realized that one of the groomsmen lives in Spain, so that gift idea was nixed.

Poor, Mr. Toucan! By the week of our wedding, he still had nothing! I think that week, he was surprisingly more stressed out than I was, so I decided to help him out. I threw out idea after idea, and finally, we settled on this:

Swiss Army Knife Silver Money Clip (it also comes in Red and Black)

We had the money clip knives engraved with their names on the back, and clipped in some Best Buy gift cards.

Mr. Toucan ended up being really happy with what he gave them, and more importantly, the groomsmen seemed to really like them!

Who had the harder time buying gifts for their attendants, you or your groom?

To You A Favor

Ok, I am stupid too! I though the same thing. But, a cool swiss money clip with a wad of cash! I think mine was brain freeze from too much AC.
