Templates for Google Docs

July 17th, 2008 @ 1:44 pm by Mrs. Peony

Hi, I’m Mrs. Peony and I am a Google Addict.

Google Maps, Google Docs, Google Notebook, and Google Calendar are integral parts of my digital life. I have an unhealthy obsession with Google Reader and I have it open at all times. Gmail is my email service of choice.

I Google everything and anything…I’ve gotten so good at it, in fact, that people are usually amazed by the speed and efficiency at which I can find obscure information off the web.

(It also doesn’t hurt that Mr. Peony works for Google. laughin And yes, their cafeteria is fantabulous.)

Today, Google released a large collection of templates for Google Docs. When I saw that “wedding planners” was the first template mentioned in the blog post announcing this new feature, I knew I had to share it with Weddingbee readers.

Here are my favorites:

Wedding Album
w155220
A bit old-fashioned, but a great presentation/slideshow nonetheless.

Event/Wedding Guest List
w155221
The best part about this spreadsheet is that since it can be shared, you can ask your computer-saavy guests to fill in their own information.

Wedding Planner
w15522001
An extensive template with different sheets for budgeting, guests, schedule, etc.

Wedding Budget
w15522002
This budget spreadsheet rivals those found on many popular wedding-planning websites. They even have a separate sheet for estimating your budget percentages.

Wedding Checklist
w15522003
Like the budget spreadsheet above, this looks very professional and thorough.

Wedding Vendors Payment List
w155222
Again, a very thorough and handy sheet.

There are currently a total of eight wedding-themed templates and you can view them all here. You can also take a non-wedding related template and customize it for your wedding planning needs. For example, I think the Project Timeline template can be used to schedule and see your wedding planning progress in a very visual format (and perfect for charts/graphs/spreadsheets geeks like myself).

While these templates certainly aren’t the best-looking or as detailed as the spreadsheets created by other bees, I think that they’re a great starting-off point for those who prefer not to start from scratch. Plus, they can all be shared so that your fiancés, wedding party, family, and friends can all pitch in.

Enjoy!

Of course this comes out after my wedding is over!

I’m a die-hard Google addict, although I recently betrayed Google to try Mobile Me. I’m not loving Mobile Me so far though, so I might have to go back to my Gmail and Google Calendars.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Google anymore! I’m a total Google addict, too, and this is going to keep me that way for a long time to come.

These are great. I also really like the new wedding planner/budget/etc. tools that are on the Martha Stewart webpage. Now I’ll have to decide which to use . . . .

These are pretty cool! I wish I had these 2 months ago when I started planning. I use Google docs for just about everything, and I created lots of documents very similar to these templates on my own.

Argh! I’ve already slaved hours over my own lame-o Google Docs for guest list and budget spreadsheet… now I am compelled to see what these are like.
But yeah, with my and my FI long-distance for a good half of the engagement, shareable Google Docs have saved our lives!

My fiance works for Google too. He sent me the links for templates, but I told him the Hive provided it first. He’s behind the Hive. =)

And I agree, the cafeteria is yummy!

I’m glad you like the budget and checklist templates. You can also download them for Excel, and they should work in OpenOffice Calc as well. Enjoy!
