About Mrs. Green Tea

I Fold

July 18th, 2008 @ 8:30 am by Mrs. Green Tea

Since I purchased my dress so early in the game (3 months into the 21 month engagement), I never had the chance to consider what I would want in a dream dress. Now that Zelda and I are developing a better rapport, I think it’s safe to indulge in a bit of fantasy that may behoove this whole bridal experience.

Wedding dresses showcase such a huge variety of details, and I love so many of them! But if I must select only one to speak for me, folds would be my pick. Lines and gathers and pleats, oh those glorious pleats! So clean yet carrying complexity, so simple while oozing sophistication, so defined but with ease, and just so so so lovely…

This Priscilla Of Boston is the kind of sexy I wish I could be:

Too romantic to be ‘me’ but this one from Lazaro bridal is just too pretty to not share:

I’d rock these two bridesmaid dresses as a bride in a heartbeat.
From Alvina Valenta:
and this one by Jim Hjelm:

I could never pull off the softness but this from LuciDiBella makes me wanna bathe in Downy:

Here are three from Saison Blanche, and I’m:
1. Digging that funky loopy loop
2. Drooling over the pleats at the bottom
3. Dreaming…just dreaming…

This from Watters looks fun, and I sooo wish I had cool straps…

And no words need to precede this Vera Wang:

What wedding dress details do you drool over?

I love that Vera Wang and I love pretty much anything by Lela Rose…

this is my favorite…if I could buy any dress, I would buy The Foundry. It’s under the Fall 2008 weddding collection and it’s number 3. http://www.lelarose.com/

Miss Green Tea,

I totally and utterly agree with you. pleats, folds, ruffles, crumb catcher necklines are beautiful- details in the structure of the dress rather than stuck onto the dress like beading. love it!

I love pleats and ruching too. That’s pretty much the only detailing on my gown. Great picks!

Ah! We have something in common! I looooove pleats. This is my gown from Sottero & Midgley: http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?showAll=1&style=ASM3163 It’s hard to see the pleats since they are so small… but they are layered all along the bottom of the dress and up the back. It’s soft and flowy, which is why I chose this dress. It was comfy!

Otherwise… I would have DIED to have this gown: http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=daria&line=m&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=8&style=S5058 It wasn’t a comfortable dress though. It was very heavy with all the pleated fabric and beading. My mom told me that I needed to be comfy on my big day, which is why I chose the first one. Kinda regret it now though since it’s the only day where you’ll get to be THIS glamorous. But oh well… it’s just a dress! I’m still happy with the first one. :)

That last Vera was my dream dress. I actually tried it on and it’s even more spectacular in person. If it hadn’t had a *double digit* price tag, I’d have bought it. It was just that amazing. Seriously, though–$14k.

I love your selections, these are all very unique! I <3 the Saison Blanche dress, but mine is Alvina Valenta so I cannot complain! ;)

That first one just ran away with my still beating heart!

The pleats at the bottom reminds me of a certain somebodies wedding dress…

I tried on that Vera Wang dress when I went dress shopping last year (even though I wore an Indian outfit, I didn’t want to deny myself the chance to try on wedding dresses!). It was absolutely stunning– the detail was unreal.

[...] Dreaming about dresses proved to be a nice little break from all the wedding projects for my exploding head, which motivated me to dream a little… lower. I must admit that I’m not a shoe fanatic (I know, there’s 2 of our kinds left, me and this one other chick), and I’ve actually never purchased shoes online. So just for fun, I did a little browsing for red shoes over at Zappos… [...]
