Dude Looks Like a Ley-Day

July 21st, 2008 @ 10:55 am by Mrs. Green Tea

Top 5 reasons why wedding beauty is rough for a tomboy:

5. Years of neglect has left her face resembling the surface of the moon.

4. Her coarse and mistreated hair does not comprehend the meaning of the word ‘bridal’.

3. Her nails have only ever (and on rare occasion) been painted with polish that is ultra light, transparent, and nude/pinkish in color to mask her painting skills that are comparable to that of a 5 year old.

2. Never has she sought professional beauty help because beauty professionals’ yapity yap straight up freaks her out.

And, (drum roll…)

1. Her inexperience with curling irons (bless her heart for practicing looking like a girl to attend a wedding this weekend) BURNED HER FACE WEEKS BEFORE HER OWN FAVORING WEDDING.

Leaving for wedding:

Morning after:

So, how was your weekend?

D@mn…..

Try Vitamin E oil….i hear thats really good for new scars. Straight out the capsule. you will only need a little bit so one capsule might last you all day. i’d keep dabbing it on as soon as the layer applied sinks in.

Ay yi yi! For years I had a scar on my forearm from accidentally bumping an iron. (I am much more careful now.) It took forever to fade, but that was probably because I didn’t use sunscreen every day. I would recommend using a high SPF on your face if you don’t already. Also, there are scar-fading treatments at the drugstore that might help.

That’ll buff right out… Sorry, just a little car humor. I agree with Getmarried4Less… try the vitamin E oil or ever cocoa butter. Good luck :)

put lots of neosporin on it! one of my first times snowboarding, i had a bad spill and basically fell face first into a patch of ice. I had a horrible scrape on my cheek that scabbed over. I put neosporin on it religiously every day all day long and in a week’s time it was pretty much healed. It left a really faint scar that was easily covered up and I used mederma on it after that and now i dont even have the scar.

I feel you pain… I’ve been told by every beautician I’ve had a trial with that I need to get a facial. It’s hard enough getting a layer of gunk put on your face that makes you look like an alien, let alone be told by a bunch a strangers that basically, “your skin sucks.”

A few weeks isn’t bad, it’s definitely enough time for it to fade a bit. If your makeup person or friends are any good with makeup, they’ll find a good cover up for the spot. I have a big age spot blemish in the same place - at least your is temporary!

Oh GT - have I got a story for you!

A few years ago, I was a bridesmaid in a wedding for a girl I was NOT that close with (that’s a long story for another time). I was trying so hard to do as much as I could for her (and her budget) and so I offered to do some of the BMs hair. When curling the bangs for one of my good friends - I BURNT HER FOREHEAD!! This was TWO HOURS BEFORE THE WEDDING and about 45 minutes before pictures.

Oh I felt so bad! You couldn’t tell after makeup - but man, that was crappy!

I’m so sorry that you burned your cheekbone! At least that’s where the blush goes, right? ;)

And I LOVE the use of favouring in this post! Just sayin’.

Ouch, that looks sore. I’ve done that before. Now I don’t use irons (curlers give less opportunity for maiming yourself).

Lavender essential oil, dabbed neat onto the burn is what I use and burns go away in a couple of days, as opposed to about 10 days without it.

I’m a tomboy too, hair and make-up wise, and I’ve been freaking out for 16 months about my hair and make up on the day. I can’t bear ‘professionals’ for exactly the same reason as you!

I’m doing my own hair and make up because the thought of dealing with professional beauty people on my wedding day is more than I can stand!

I know the feeling! I am a covered in bruises, and just now in my mid-20’s am thinking that moisturizing is an ok thing - and in my mind, I only really do this because of the sunscreen in it.
I’d call it a beauty battle scar! At least you had the guts to try and curl your hair! (and - nothing funnier than the “favoring”… i think that should become weddingbee norm.)

Lychee says:

Ecks… try to use some aloe, it really helps to fix the skin scars, even acne some says. Best would be pure aloe plant, cut a small piece, open it in the middle, rub it on your face leave it on for about 20 minutes then wash it off.

doctorgirl says:

I’m a physician and a tomboy, but I was going to pm you a message on how to care for your “wound” but I don’t know how to pm on this site.

Studies have shown that Vitamin E is no more effective than other creams… Scar creams or fade creams are no better either. Rather it is the act of rubbing any cream into the area at least twice a day that breaks down fibrous/scar tissue– That means cheapie Jergens or fancy Eucerin… They work the same way, through the mechanical force of rubbing them in. (Remember your mom rubbing your bruises? Well, don’t do that with bruises, since you might dislodge a clot… but for scars, she was on the right track!)

Liz and Lulubelle said sunscreen and are right on the money. Sunscreen and hats every day limits the damage of any skin injury–especially a facial skin injury. I can give you my comprehensive wound care talk if I can just figure out how to pm you… or you can pm me.
