Mrs. Cream Puff's Picture
Mrs. Cream Puff, San Francisco Bay Area Age and Occupation: 25, Illustrator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Merchandise Planner Engagement Date: May 27, 2007 Wedding Date: August, 2008 Blogging Since: February 7, 2008 Venue: Ceremony at Crissy Field and Reception at the Green Room About Me: I never dreamed about my wedding as a little girl because I was too busy playing in the mud or pretending to be Martha Stewart–but now that it's here, I'm having a fabulous time DIYing everything in sight! We’re planning a very fun multicultural wedding (I'm Jewish and Mr. Cream Puff is Chinese), filled with as many personal details as I can muster.
About Mrs. Cream Puff

When planning anything, our children are a major consideration for Mr. Cream Puff and I. Even if we’re leaving for just one night, we have to figure out what to do with our kids! The cats are usually okay for a couple of days, but our pooch is another story. Usually, we’re going camping or something, and she gets to come with:

Our wedding and honeymoon, however, have to be dog and cat-free.

Because our cats are low maintenance, Mr. Cream Puff’s parents have agreed to look after them. Lulabelle, on the other hand, needs constant care (she is a dog, after all), and we didn’t have a regular boarder. We want to know that she’s happy while we’re gone, so leaving her at the vet for nine days was out of the question. We want to leave her with someone who will love her and care for her and take her for walks. So we searched high and low on Yelp for a good dog boarder and came across Doggy Lama. This weekend, we had to leave her for a trial night, and MAN did we miss her. When we left her at the boarding place, she wanted to come home with us so badly! The guilt! Nine days away will be pretty hard (for us at least).

One helpful thing for us is that Molly of Doggy Lama posts pictures on flickr when she takes the dogs she’s boarding on walks. You best believe we’re going to be checking flickr on a daily basis from our iPhones while we’re in Mexico! I was feeling nervous about whether Lulu was having a good time, because she seemed so sad to see us go. So I checked flickr, and lo and behold, Molly posted a few pictures of Lulabelle on flickr. She looks like she’s having a great time!

I’ve seen other doggy boarding places with webcams, so you can always see what your pooch is up to. I know I’m not the only gal out there with furry children! What are you doing with them while you’re getting married and on your honeymoons? Are you worried about missing them? I know I am!

Even though I will miss my little Lu Bear, I can rest assured that she’s having a great time. And if I ever worry about it, I just have to look at this smiley picture from Molly to put my mind at ease. :)

Too bad there aren’t any webcams for the kitties!

Awww…yeah, I would miss that cute little lulu face too, if I were you guys! We only have cats, so we’ll have someone checking in on them while we’re gone for 10 days. They’re pretty low maintenance…they have a cat door, so no cat box or anything…they come and go as they please, and enjoy the constant all-you-can-eat buffet. So that’s not too tough. But, we have actually talked about that being a big reason to come home (rather than stay away) on our wedding night — after that, it’s 10 days away, and we know we’ll miss the kitties (plus, they’ll miss us a bit). :( I love the dog boarder you guys found…you (and lulu) can definitely tell how loved she is :)

We will probably leave Catch with my former roommate, who knows him well. It also breaks my heart to leave him. Luckily, up here in Seattle we have a neighbor who loves him almost as much as we do, and in Tahoe we have my old roommate who lived with him for most of his first year.

So I feel completely comfortable that he’ll be in good hands!

I have never boarded my pups but I know that the day will come where it will be necessary so it’s awesome to know that places do such a thing! It would definitely give me peace of mind to see some happy pup pictures! I’m so glad I know now! Thanks!

We spoil our kitty, so I don’t leave her alone - even for one night! Plus - we’re doing a destination wedding in Canada - so are away for a week, home for four days, then leave on our week-long honeymoon. So I’ve had to find two catsitters to stay at our apartment for those weeks - just found one for the wedding week so that’s a huge relief!

I know exactly how you feel. I am extremely attached to my cat Bella Rose, partly because I never had a pet growing up due to my dad & brother’s allergies and partly because she is just the sweetest little thing. My parents live just a few blocks away from us and my mother has offered the check daily on Bella and sit with her. I know Bella will be lost without us there and we will definately miss her but maybe some quality time with grandma will be good for her!

We have cats - they are totally my babies. My fiance thinks I’m a little obsessive, but even he starts talking about how he misses the cats after a few days away.

I’m not sure yet whether we’ll be boarding them or asking someone to look in on them. We’re moving across the country soon and I have no idea if we’ll know anyone by the wedding who we will trust enough to come into our apartment to look in on the cats. So we might end up boarding them - I’ll definitely have to look for a place with a web cam or flickr photos!

Awww… what a cutie pie! We’re extremely lucky in that our baby can stay at Camp FILs. She has spent enough time there to be completely comfortable, but we’ll miss her while we’re away. :(

Hopefully family will watch them. We have a puppy & a 5 year old who has never been boarded. She is kind of a nervous dog, but she loves her doggy daycare if we absolutely have to use them….

I KNOW!! I am so worried about my little Oakley. Luckily, we are going on our hm 2 months after the wedding…so he will only have to be boarded for one day and one night during the wedding, we are having a friend take him for the 6 days we will be gone on the hm! I will def. miss him so much though!

We may have the Best Man come house sit for us. We’ve done it before and it worked out well!

How gorgeous is she? OMg what a cutie! Luckily we only have a cat and my mom is going to babysit him while we’re honeymooning. I think she’s more excited about playing with our dvd collection, TBH…

We struggled (um, and I guess, still are) with what to do with our dog over the honeymoon. A friend graciously offered to watch him on our wedding night (whew!). FI’s parents were going to take the dog for our 3-week honeymoon, but recently found out that they won’t be able to due to some issues they are facing (caused entirely by his sister, but not that I’m bitter). Since 3-weeks is really long to board, we didn’t know what to do! A friend offered to help, but FI’s feels really badly leaving him with 90 pound of needy dog.

I never would have guessed dog-sitting would have been the major point of drama in our wedding!

This is one of the things we are already worrying about and our wedding isn’t until next June.

I hate leaving my cats for even a weekend when I have a friend looking in on them once a day, so I know I’m going to be wracked with guilt when we get the dog we’ve been planning on getting. I’m hoping that one of our parents will take pity and either stay at our place or visit daily. :p

Awww, she’s such a cutie-pie — I love her little car goggles :) My wedding isn’t until next year, but we’re such worrywarts that we’ve already been making plans for our baby! Normally for weekends away we board her at a great doggie day-care place that she LOVES, but the honeymoon will be way too long to do that. Fortunately, my FILs have offered to watch her while we’re away, so she’ll go to her regular boarding place day of the wedding and then they’ll pick her up the next day and watch her while we’re gone.

What a great idea - posting pics of the puppies on flickr!
P.S. Lulabelle is very photogenic ;)

We are having someone come and house/dog/cat sit while we honeymoon. Our doggie was a pound puppy, I hesitate to board him since he would have to be in a kennel all night. He would probably be fine, but I am prone to the guilt and I will convince myself that he thinks we have given him away. We have always been lucky to find a responsible college student that either FI or I work with to come and say. They usually like to get away from roommates for a few days, and we pay them a bit, maybe $20 per day. I also like that I can call them anytime I want during the week to check in. Fur-children do complicate things!
