Polyvore/Minted Contest Winners!

July 22nd, 2008 @ 3:00 pm by Contests

Thanks to all of you who entered the Polyvore/Minted Dream Wedding Contest. Picking winners was tough for the Weddingbee and Minted judges, as the competition was fierce! There were over 2300 entries, and we had so much fun checking out all the inspirational boards.

When making our decision, we looked for the following criteria: sticks to a theme, does a good job of incorporating a Minted invitation, has good composition/layout, and is aesthetically pleasing.

And now… the winners!

1st place

The first place winner will receive a $300 gift certificate, and the second and third place winners will each receive a $150 gift certificate for beautiful personalized stationery from Minted.com.  Their boards are also featured on Polyvore and Minted’s blogs.  Congratulations to all the winners! :)

No offense to the winner or the judges but the 2nd place and 3rd place entries are WAY more creative than the 1st one. Actually there are several more creative entries that were submitted than #1. Are you guys serious??

If I has known it only took making up a black and white palette and adding the bare minimum of pictures, I too could have won this contest. I am kind of disappointed in the judges here.

I am loving #3!! Its similar in feel to the one I made (for myself, not the contest) so I am doing a blog post about it and some of her other fun boards! It won’t post until tomorrow morning… but it’ll be here:

I am also disappointed with the winning entries. I looked at a lot of the entries and there were some gorgeous and very creative boards! I think #2 and #3 (especially) are much better than #1, and I think there were other boards that were even better!
Maybe you could let us know what criteria you used to make the decisions..

@Ms.N: Ms. N — there were several judges involved. We’ve updated the post with the criteria we used.

Maybe we’ll do a reader’s choice… do you guys have nominations for your favorites?

Mrs. SKI and Ms.N - I disagree! I think that the winning board gets across a certain feeling (carefree Parisian elegance) very well. It is not just about creating the prettiest collage, but about communicating an atmosphere.

I like these boards, and I like the first place winner. I can see why other readers are saying they are disappointed though. Most boards I have seen require a few more pictures- which I think requires a lot of creativity. Also- where’s the challenge in black and white? You can make any photo black and white. I do loove the board though!

I can understand where people are coming from…..I do like the feeling of the first place winner, but the fact that the two main photos that create the feeling that I love came straight from the same source, A Parisian Wedding photo shoot from Brides.com, it slightly diminishes the creative aspect of it all.

I feel that there should definitely be a theme, but I feel that the theme should be built upon by pulling inspiration from diverse sources…so as not to replicate the creativity from a professional layout.

But nevertheless, just my thoughts. Congrats to all the winners, because each is beautiful.

I think if there were a greater contrast the first one would be better but it doesn’t inspire me and the second place just doesn’t say wedding at all to me. I love the third place one and i can see it actually being executed.

I have to agree that the third place winner is the best one… the first one is okay, but not anything especially “creative”. And the second one doesn’t really say weddng to me either…
