To Have and Make Someone Else Hold

July 24th, 2008 @ 1:50 pm by Mrs. Shortcake

I was smitten when first I saw Miss Cookie blog about the beautiful clutches made by Red Ruby Rose on Etsy. I was drowning in lust when I saw Miss Candy Corn blog about her new clutch from Red Ruby Rose. Then I got a full-time job, and almost simultaneously, Red Ruby Rose launched some new patterns…

Hello, Lover.

sc1.jpg

Behold my wedding clutch.

…Are you beholding? You better be beholding. :)

There’s a gorgeous pink peony print on one side (to make up for the fact that I can’t actually have peonies in October)…

sc2

… some delicately curving lilies of the valley (a la Grace Kelly’s wedding bouquet) on the other side…

and, wait for it -

a stunning pink silk shantung lining!

sc3

I know. I llllooooovvvveee it.

In my spaztastic and droolicious clutch I’ll keep a small digital point-and-shoot camera, lipstick for touch ups, the 100-year old mini purse and 88 year old handkerchief as well as an abundant supply of tissues. I’ve been pretty devastated that the bride isn’t allowed to carry around a big black DSLR camera on the big day, but this clutch almost makes up for it.

sc4

Almost. :)

Have you found your purse? What are you putting in it?

I also bought a Ruby Red Rose clutch–the Liberty print with the peacock feather. I really like it.

You better believe I’ll be toting around my big black DSLR on my big day ;) Although I do LOVE the clutch. Hopefully my photographer wont be offended.

Girl, I just bought the Peony clutch with Peacock blue lining yesterday, and I’m SO excited! I tried just blogging about it, but it only made the need for it greater. I had to succumb.

Congrats - its beautiful.

How long did it take to get the clutch? I love it but my wedding is only 9 days away!

I should really stop reading wedding blogs- so I don’t get new ideas!

@design-phan: @danathebride: ooh! How exciting! My two sisters ordered redrubyrose clutches as well after they saw mine (both peony prints, but all different to suit our personalities)! Dana, it’s hard to resist, huh? I saw the lilies of the valley, and I was like, ‘Click to Buy. the end.” :D

@Heather: Heather, you just gave me a new fear. Thanks. ;) No bust seriously, I understand. I have changed my mind SO many times because of the internet! :) I don’t think a clutch could get to you in 9 days, but she does offer expedited delivery for $8 more…you should email and find out!!

You’re a total retail-therapy enabler! I just bought the art deco-y goodness that is the “belle of the ball” clutch. Totally don’t care that it doesn’t match my color scheme at all.

I just ordered 2 for my bridesmaids. I’m so excited! Couldn’t justify one for me but that’s OK! Hope they like.

I ordered the exact bag a few days ago - I was so suprised when I saw your post :) It is hard to tell in the picture but is the fabric color bright white or a soft white/ ivory? I am concerned it will be too white against my soft white dress? Thanks (I am so anxious to see it in person)

i got my clutch/wristlet for about $12 at a shoe store. everybody talks about how you dont need one, but i’ve been carrying a purse since i was 2 (and before that a brown paper bag) so going without is a foreign concept to me.

i’ll have gum and mints. face powder. clear nail polish. saftey pins. and whatever else that is small that can be used in an emergency. i’ve been very tempted to take my camera but fear i’d be soo busy trying to snap shots that i wouldnt be involved in the day. soooo i’m trusting one of my bm’s to catch every breath that i breath. ;)

Miss Shortcake, photography is a part of who I am, so YES I willing be bringing my own camera with me. Who knows if I’ll actually use it, but at least I’ll have it if the mood strikes me. Besides it may be kind of cute to get a pic with wedding attire and camera in hand.

I love Red Ruby Rose. Her clutches are beautiful. I want the one with the peony. I was just blogging her the other day. She is a great photographer as well.

Love the clutch! Just bought one from another website:
http://www.basementbags.com
that is almost exactly the same shape, etc.
Mine is black and white houndstooth with my monogram in red on it and red silk lining on the inside. I love it! I’m going clutch crazy! Check out her website, she does custom work if you email her what you want, and all of her work turns out beautiful! I’ll have to check out red ruby rose as well!

I totally hear you on not being able to be a bride and still carry the huge digital SLR!! I’m having a hard time coming to terms with that.

I’ll be carrying around a camera as well. I can’t imagine not being able to take at least one self portrait (okay 10) during the festivities.

I love Red Ruby Rose! I’m giving my two female attendants the ivory, blue, and gold Liberty peacock feather print clutches.

I’m going to slip a few small gifts inside and give them to the girls at the rehearsal dinner.
Rowena was so sweet and easy to work with, too!
