The winner is Rebecca Struchen! The following entries have also won $150 off any order: Cathy, lil9cc, and Daniel. Congratulations to all our winners, and thanks to everyone who entered!

We have a fantastic giveaway from Bella Figura, an eco-conscious artisan letterpress shop based in Syracuse, New York, and we couldn’t be more excited! Not only do they create some of the most stylish invitations around, they also use 100% cotton paper made from reclaimed fibers, donate 1% of sales to environmental causes, and are 100% wind-powered and carbon neutral! They are a green company through and through. Plus I totally swooned over their in-house antique letterpresses!
Today we’re giving away up to 200 letterpressed save the dates or 100 invitations to one lucky couple, but there’s a little twist! First check out their wedding gallery and choose a favorite design, and then comment below nominating your daughter/friend/sister/fiance (male or female)… and let us know why they should win the invitations! It can be anything like why they’re so great, what things they’ve done to help the planet or themselves, etc. We want to hear your stories!
You have until 8pm PST tonight to enter when we’ll select one winner. Good luck!
I nominate my sister Amy because she is a great role model and I lover her very much. She helps the environment in simple ways by using canvas grocery bags, recycling and conserving energy. I think she would love the MAISON by AMY GRAHAM STIGLER because it is classic and beautiful.
I nominate my sister because of her devotion to our family. Our mother was diagnosed with a progressive disease last year and she arranged her final semester of school around our mother’s treatment and never missed a single appointment. She also was by our father’s bedside for a week for over 12 hours each day when he was hospitalized with cardiac issues, and made certain that our father received the best care possible. She was our rock during the scariest times, and is an inspiration to me and others.
My sister is an amazing woman and she would love these invitations. I know she has been trying to work her wedding budget to afford calligraphy, and would love the classic calligraphy invitations.
Thank you.
I nominate my MOH and bestest Jennifer. She and her fiance (matt) are not only studying for the Bar exam but putting off planning their own wedding until it is over because they know that the wedding is only a day and their life together is forever. I love them both and I think my Jennifer will LOVE your Jennifer design but i think her fiance Matt would like the Circolo 2 because it is our college colors and that is where Jen and Matt first met. I hope you pick them because they are a deserving couple.
I nominate my Fiancee. He is going back to school next month, for the first time in over 10 years, for Sustainable Communities. He’s always the one making sure I have cloth bags when I go to the store, he’s changed all of our lightbulbs, recycles and composts everything, and he makes sure that we walk when possible. With going back to school, the budget has gotten tight- and as crazy as it is to say- he loves letter pressed invites and it’s just not in the budget. That said, I think he’d like the Amy because it is simple, modern and green- just like all the details of our wedding.
I nominate one of my closest friends, Colleen. Colleen and I are both studying for the bar exam, and she has been invaluable in helping me calm down and focus so we can both get through this exam. Additionally, Colleen is very much so deserving of these invitations for her generosity and her willingness to help others. During her tenure as editor-in-chief of our school’s environmental law journal, she worked on many a project to further the journal’s green focus and produce a quality product. I know she would love The Amy by Amy Truncali because it fits her style, simple yet elegant. I hope you pick her because I can’t think of anyone else who is more deserving!
I nominate my good friend, Marie for the Soleil. Marie is one of those friends that you know you’ll keep in your life forever. She and and I have bounced ideas off each other for each of our weddings, and she is always a wealth of good ideas. In fact, she’s the one who introduced me to Wedding Bee!
Marie deserves to win these invitations because she is known to be so eager to help others. For example, Marie mastered the art of dairy-free baking when one of my friends discovered they were extremely allergic to dairy. Additionally, Marie has been a shoulder to cry on and a friend to call whenever things get tough. She is one of those rare friends that you cannot find just anywhere.
Of anyone, I believe Marie truly deserves to win.
My housemate Staci deserves to win the Guild invitation. She and her fiance have been working so hard to have the wedding of their dreams, and the Guild design reminds me of feathers, one of her thematic elements for the wedding.
Staci and her fiance deserve to win because of the difficult family circumstances they have both survived and now risen over, including but not limited to losing her father to MS as a girl.
They got engaged in Sept 2007 and are waiting and working towards a Spring 2009 wedding, but in between they’ve survived car crashes, horrible jobs, difficult school situations. They’ve just worked so hard and this invitation seems so perfect for her that I would love to see her win it.
My friends E. and J. deserve to win this. They are both graduate students, so they are living close to the bone. I would love for them to be able to have this little bit of luxury for their wedding.
First of all, I love the Nantucket letterpress. Next, I nominate my financee. He is wonderful man trying to give me the wedding of my dreams even though money is tight. He deserves it because he is the most caring guy in the world. He not only makes time for me, but makes sure that he sees his dad who is in a skilled nursing facility everyday. Ever since his dad had a stroke 5 years ago, which left him a quadaplegic (bedridden, with a ventilator and a g-tube), he makes sure that his dad is cleaned and properly positioned every night (even if that means seeing him at 12AM). He also takes care of his 73 old mother. He works so hard that he barely gets 5 hours of sleep each day as his work and life schedules are demanding. I love him so much and a little thing like this will make his day as our wedding comes closer and the bills add up on his credit card.
I’m nominating my finace b/c I don’t think he’ll survive the stress of watching me design our invitations
He hates even watching me designs pieces for friends’ & family members’ weddings & other parties!
And the Papavero designs would be perfect–Ok, I admit I love it, but after making him look at tons of designs–I know it’s just modern enough, flamboyant-yet-refined enough for his (manly) tastes. Save him from my diy adventure!
I love the Moderno 2. My Fiance deserves to win these. Not only would he drop anything and everything for a friend or loved one…but he has and would do the same for his country. After serving in Iraq in the Army and losing several friends he had to decide to stay in or retire. Not only has he stayed in the Army Guard but he will commission as an officer in 3 weeks. And he does that while balancing a career in finance, family committments and being the most wonderful father to our puppy. I would love to use those invites for his commissioning party. He deserves a blowout event.
I nominate my Fiancee to win the Champagne invitation. When we first got engaged, she stumbled across the Bella Figura website and she fell in love with that invitation. It became the inspiration for the entire wedding design. Unfortunately, it’s not in our budget. I can’t think of a better, more meaningful gift for her than the Champagne invitation set, since she’s also the “green living” champion in our household and wherever she goes. She’s convinced everyone that we know to change their lightbulbs, is unfailing about recycling, and uses every excuse available to give people cloth shopping bags as gifts (she even makes them herself!). On top of all this, she’s done nothing but make me happy for the last 5 years, and I would love use this opportunity to make her happier, and hopefully make her day.
I’m nominating my fiancee. She is extremely dedicated to her job teaching third grade to low-income kids. She routinely works 10-hour days on top of her two hour round trip commute. She still makes time to plan our wedding and help raise our puppy.
I think that winning these invitations would alleviate a lot of her stress and give her a much needed surprise!
I really like the Nouveau pattern - it is clean, classic and unique. It matches her tastes perfectly.
I love “the Amy”, it’s so simple, classy, and sophisticated-
I nominate my fiance Dan because he is one heck of a guy. He commutes to work and school via bike every day. School is about 15 mins away by car, and work is about 10 mins away by car (on the highway). He goes out of the way to make sure he does not drive a car in order to reduce pollution. He’s also an architect and his dream is to build us a completely green shipping crate house (with a living roof and solar panels!)
I nominate my fiance. She’s an environmentally conscious person to the core (degree in Envt. Studies, avid recycler, will trudge in the snow to avoid driving) and this is a surprise that would make her (and our green wedding) day!
I nominate my fiance, Erika. She is from Syracuse, NY, where this company is based. She really wants to have a green wedding, as do I. She would be thrilled if she knew that our invitations will be produced in upstate NY, where she originally wanted to have the wedding (we’re having it in Washington, DC).
I looked at all the invitations with a fine tooth comb, and decided that her favorite would be the Empire. I can just picture the smile on her face after receiving them.
We are both good people who try hard to live an environmentally conscious lifestyle. These invitations will help us complete our green wedding.
I love the Odessa invitation! It is gorgeous!
I nominate my best friend and future sister in law! She is an amazing person and completely selfless, and puts everyone before herself. She always takes care of everyone and never complains and would do anything for anyone no questions asked. I am also very lucky because she is marrying my brother, so she is going to be my sister! They have an extremely tight budget and are having a hard time finding invitations that they love and can afford. They truly deserve this and it would be awesome to help them out in this way.
I adore “Tender Is the Night”–it’s an elegant, clean-lined, simple look.
My dear friend Christine should win some beautiful invitations from Bella Figura. Chris is one of the most ethical people I know. She cares deeply for the environment and also believes in prevention being a key to good health. For these reasons and simply for the love of it, Chris cycles many miles to work and back daily. She and her partner, who is in rabbinical study, are two of my favorite people. They spread their joy and warmth wherever they go, and I’m overjoyed they are marrying. They take care to source materials they use to be sure they are healthful and come as much as possible from green producers, so they’d be thrilled to have invitations made by such a conscientious company.
I’d nominate my fiancee, for numerous reasons.
He built a dual-chamber compost bin for our house with scrap wood and found nails leftover from building our fence. He’s also vice-president in charge of recycling for our house, taking not only our household recycling to the large recycling center, but my office’s, after I started a recycling program there (to conserve trips to the center after I bring things home). He’s pretty great about collecting greywater from our house and then watering the vegetables with it, and actively works to improve the efficiency of our home. This weekend, we’re (he’s) installing more roof vents on our house to assist with the cooling. He’s researched and charged with (when needed) more environmentally-friendly refrigerant for and in our cars and house (as a bonus, it works better than R22!) He’s also been working on both his car and our 1968 truck to improve efficiency, both lowering emissions on the antique vehicles and raising the fuel mileage. All this while completing his PhD.
I think he’d really like “Estrella,” because it’d remind him of the waving fields of the farm he grew up on.
Oh, my gosh, this was meant to be. Seriously, my sister (I’m a bridesmaid) was just looking at the Bella Figura invites the other day and told me how if she had unlimited money, she’d use the Deveril invites and she wished she had known about them when she was first ordering her invites.
My sister has had a NIGHTMARE time with her invites. She thought she was getting an amazing deal on some letterpressed invites by agreeing to be in the company’s sample book. She went back and forth many times with the company and was so excited about what she was getting. When the bill came, it was almost three times what she had originally been quoted. Understand my sister is very forgiving and you can talk her into almost anything - she’s a little naive. An amazing, wonderful person who sees the good in everybody - but a little naive. They explained away the extra charges (complete bait and switch in my opinion). She was disappointed, but so excited about the invites that she agreed. They gave her a delivery date, and she waited and waited. Nothing. She called and emailed and after several weeks they finally got back to her and said, oh, sorry about that. They’re NOW on their way, for real. Even then, they came a full week after they were expected.
Finally, they came. We all gathered excitedly to see them, she opened the box, and….they were hideous. The first thing we noticed was the color. She had ordered “soft white” and was told it was similar to ordering a diamond white dress - not WHITE white but still white. No. These were YELLOW. Then we notice that an entire component of the invite is missing (the tag that was supposed to be used with the ribbon to tie everything together). She was told that because she hadn’t proofed one, they assumed she didn’t want it. Except she HAD and she had the email to prove it. As of today, nearly five weeks later, she still doesn’t have it (they keep promising it’s coming). The edges of the invite are a very rough torn edge, even though when asked she requested a clean cut. The paper is flimsy and not the cardstock she had requested. The “ribbon” they told her they were sending with them is actually unraveled twine - and it’s not pretty at all.
And to top that all off, they were printed CROOKED.
She’s been trying to work with the company to get her money back to no avail so far.
So after all that, my poor sister is doing everything she can to make these work. Right now, she’s ordered pocketfolds to try to put them in and is RECUTTING every. single. side of the invites to straighten them out and get rid of the rough edges. 100 invites plus 100 RSVPs plus 100 directions cards times 4 edges each….well, it’s taking her a long time.
She’s absolutely miserable and it would make her SOOOOO happy to get these.
SOMERSBY or CALAIS would be wonderful for my friend Maggie’s wedding. She is getting married on the beach in December.
Maggie is the hardest working, funniest, and most talented person I have ever met. Maggie worked very hard to get into a very prestigious music school and then into a top 10 university - where she worked even harder to pay her way. Her work ethic is incredible. She works 7 days a week, works with children, at churches, she somehow finds time to volunteer - and throughout all of this she never complains, has the most positive attitude, is so kind to her friends, and always makes everyone else laugh. I know that Maggie will appreciate these invitations.
I nominate my cousin Anne because I love her and want the best for her wedding. These gorgeous, eco-friendly invitations are a great way to kick off her plans for the future.
I nominate my sister Yvonne because she has always been there for me. Being the youngest, she has always taken care of me, so I’ve never had to worry about anything. She was such a great assest to me at my wedding, and I would just love to be able to win this for her. I love the look of letterpress invitations. I love the Sakura design, and I know my sister will too. I love her!
i would like to nominate my fiancee Stephanie. she happened upon the bella figura invites months before we got engaged and loved the botanical poppy invites.
she’s done a lot for the community, including working with underpriviledged children and volunteering at a youth center. on top of that, she works very hard to take care of her friends and family!
she would love to have these invites for our wedding next year.
My favorites are the Aviva print and the Pavilion print. Our wedding will be in a barn in Vermont or Upstate New York–rustic, unassuming, yet elegant and pretty. Both of these invitations wrap all of those things up beautifully.
I nominate my fiance, Ian. He’s a native Upstate New Yorker who had made our rental in New Mexico a home by planting and maintaining an organic vegetable garden in our front yard–giving us tomatos, chard, basil, rosemary, sage, peppers, and eggplant for our meals. By growing our own veggies, we don’t buy imported produce which wastes gas. He’s replaced many of our lightbulbs with CFLs and rides his bike to work on the Rio Grande almost every day (even though he gets flat tires all too often). While he hasn’t taken much of a roll in the wedding planning, the one thing he really wants is for us to have a green wedding, including invitations and save-the-dates on recycled materials. The venue we are about to commit to is run on hydroelectric and geothermal utilities and was recently constructed from recycled materials. The barn we are set to have our reception in was made with old barn wood–I can’t help but think of all the stories each of those beams holds.
I nominate my wonderful fiance, Ben. He is pretty much a hippie and is extremely earth conscious. He is dedicated to all the typical eco-friendly efforts folks make such as using only canvas bags or his messenger bag when shopping, recycling all dry paper, all plastic glass and aluminum products, etc.
In addition, Ben gave up his car. For about two years, he has been commuting over 20 miles each way to/from work solely by bicycle or Amtrak. Despite the 100 plus degree summer temps or the heavy rain in the winter, he is dedicated to reducing his carbon-footprint.
For fun, he’s training to be a bicycle mechanic, that way he can encourage other people to give up their cars for carefree pedal powered transportation.
Soon he will be entering Grad school, studying to be a Librarian. What a better way to reduce, reuse, recycle than check out the local library.
We shop only at the local food CO-OP and farmer’s market, buying organic locally grown produce, extremely important since we are both vegetarians.
He liked the Modernaire design, and several from both designer Maura Gauthier and Amy Graham Stigler. To surprise him with such a beautiful and sweet piece of art crafted by such a lovely and eco-friendly company would be Super!! And a lot less work seeing as we were going to silk screen our invites on recycled paper.
I love the Hana design. I nominate my brother’s girlfriend Sattya because she is the sweetest, most open-minded, kind, generous person that I could pick for my brother, and for myself as a future sister-in-law. Sattya and Matt are expecting their first baby in January with a wedding sometime after that! She is very eco- and people-conscious and I think that she would love these (but to pick her own design of course!).
The Amy is the best design and my sister Angie should win because shes awesome.
I nominate my fiance, because he’s been so patient with me. I am a lover of all things letterpress, so I fell in love with all Bella Figura’s paperie.. My favorite is “boutique” by Amy Stigler. It’s adorable and elegant at the same time. Love it!
I nominate my best friend from high school (that’s 16 years people!), Tracy! She is an amazing friend not only to me but to everyone who is lucky enough to call her a friend. And because she’s so darn friendly - that’s a lot of people! Which means her wedding guest list will be HUGE. Given this fact she will not be able to employ the #1 budget friendly advice we all know - cut the guest list. She can’t do it. She loves too many people in this world to exclude them from this important day.
That’s why winning this contest would be super-fantastic-awesome for Tracy!
Please pick her. Pretty please?
Oh (I almost forgot), I think Vintage or Garland… or maybe, Modernaire would be good fits for Tracy’s autumn wedding.
I’d like to nominate my fiance…because he loves me…and he’s not afraid to show it every day. Simple.
I nominate my best friend kate to win these invitations. She would love the nantucket invitations. My friend kate is an amazing person. She is always super positive and helpful whenever you are having a bad day. She is getting married next june and has asked me to be her MOH. Her mother passed when she was very young and so i am filling as honorary mom when she tries on dresses and its either hideous or gorgeous or in any other way that she needs. I know that she has had very hard times in her life with her mothers passing and i think she would be very grateful of any help that she could recieve during this exciting yet difficult time in her life. Thank you for giving her a chance to win. I am sure if you could meet her you would know what a special person she is to every one of her friends.
I nominate my daughter Joanne. She is asustanaible building project expert in Vancouver, Canada working for a small firm but making a big difference. She is one of 4 sisters and is living so far away from all her family. She and her fiance are such good helpful people and we are so happy that they have found each other. She will be a November Vancouver bride. I think she would love the English Walz style invitation. It is clean, elegant and stuctured. She is very particular about paper products and is struggling on her own to come up with an accepable invitation which looks lovely, is enviromentally sound and affordable. She had priced letterpress invitations but had to give up that idea because of cost. If you pick our daughter to award your very generous prize to, I feel you would be picking a worthy winner.
I nominate my daughter to win the Classic Calligraphy invitations. She is so incredibly deserving of the one item she truly wanted for her wedding.
She and her fiance dated for 5 years before becoming engaged due to financial hardships. When her fiance finally landed a job that was stable, they got engaged and started planning the wedding.
She priced out letterpress and it wasn’t in their budget.
Just this week, her fiance lost his job and now shes afraid that they won’t be able to afford a wedding at all.
If she could win these invitations, it would be the small ray of hope that this wedding is meant to be, even if it isn’t the lavish one they dream of.
At least one thing could have gone their way.
I would like to nominate my fiance Anna. She has put so much time and effort into planning our upcoming June wedding, this would be such a TREAT for her! We both work full time and planning a wedding has proven to be another full time job in itself! We really want to ensure that our wedding is as lovely as can be without breaking the bank. The Tuileries invitation certainly evokes the spirit of our wedding: an outdoor ceremony with vintage touches, a string quartet, and cocktail by the pond before dinner. What a beautiful way to represent our wedding with your gorgeous invitations!
I’m loving the “empire” invitations and I nominate my older sister to win them! She is an artist and loves all things paper, and truly appreciates beautiful designs and letterpress process. The thing is, she would never be able to afford these amazing invitations on her own and is thinking of settling for a nice, but less artistic invitation. She’s only two years older than me, and has been close by my side my whole life. Even when we were having our typical sister arguments as teenagers, we always knew (and still do!) that no matter what we were still best friends. It’s hard to truly express to her how important she is to me, but winning her some fancy letterpress invites would help to let her know how much I love her!
i love the somersby design, but more importantly, i know my big sister will. My sister is getting married next september, but she and her fiance have an even bigger event happening next month- they’ll be having their first baby!! i am so excited for my sister. She is due in august- almost exactly a year from the day my husband and I were married.
As the older sister, Amy was a huge part of my wedding planning process. She is amazingly creative, supportive, and loves to craft. I could not ask for better qualities for my MOH to have.
When she told me she was getting married, I could not wait to help her with all her planning. All of my wedding stationary was DIY, and with the recent purchase of a Gocco, we already started planning what we would do for her.
However, as fate would have it, my sister found out a couple months into her engagement that she was going to have a baby. That has shifted my sister and her fi’s priorities greatly- they’ve been saving up a lot and are anxiously awaiting their little boy. The wedding has taken a bit of a backseat. I feel bad because I know my sister is not going to be able to have the wedding she’s always dreamed of, cuz the baby will always be the priority, and she’s not going to have the time to do all the DIY crafting projects we had planned. I know my sister loves letterpress, and I can’t think of any better gift I could give my sister than to present her with letterpress invites, on the house. ![]()
My best friend Cindy epitomizes all things healthy and beautiful. She loves life and loves all things natural. Cindy recently lost 100 pounds and we are all so proud of her. No one could be happier for her than I am right now. Much of the weight lost, came from a severe devotion to only putting healthy things into her body. Her life is finally coming together as she always dreamed it would. Next summer she will be marrying the love of her life; my brother-in-law whom she met at my wedding while serving as my Maid of Honor while he was the Best Man. They had an instant connection that stemmed from both of their loves of literature, nature, animals, and all things healthy and natural; they literally, I believe were made precisely for each other. I think that this would be a great way to give Cindy a little something back for all that she does for me and everyone else around her. I think it is a great idea to use recycled invitations and I know she would love the idea to. I have looked through the beautiful invitations and have decided that I think the Pochoir invitations fit Cindy’s elegant, soft summer wedding theme extremely well and I think they would be perfect for her. (Love you Cyd, can’t wait to be your sister-in-law!) Thank you!
Personally, I like the “Trace” design, but I’m not too sure what my friend Courtney would choose. Courtney is whom I am nominating. She and her fiance are great friends to my fiance and I. I think she deserves to winthe beautiful letterpress invites because she is such as good friend. She is my workout buddy; helping me stay motivated to get in shape before my nuptials. My family and bridal party do not live in the state we live in, so Courtney has been going to all the wedding planning events and dress shopping with me; making this planning process fun. Courtney has been dealing with some health issues the last few months that still remain unresolved and I fell that if she won the invites, it would help alleviate some stress and worry-she doesn’t need it.
I like “Trace”, and I nominate my friend Meghan because her and her fiance are so busy with their respective careers that they haven’t had time to set a date for the big day… As newlyweds we can’t wait for their big day, and I think that a gift of letterpress STDs might get them going ![]()
I love the “Garland” and I think my dear friend Teri would also love it. I’m nominating her because she has been so wonderful and supportive helping me plan my wedding (and just in general) and I know she would absolutely love to have letterpress invitations for her upcoming wedding celebration. We both share a major love of paper and we met while attending Syracuse University, so the fact that Bella Figura is in Syracuse is an added bonus - we miss living there and, of course, always want to support locally owned, environmentally conscious businesses.
LOVE the Deveril design - classic and elegant!
For the prize I would like to to nominate my very best friend Tree. We met in our freshman year of college when we were assigned as roommates randomly. We have been inseparable ever since…except for the pesky fact that now I live in Ireland and she’s in Boston. She is a hard working, caring and generous person and she is trying very hard to manage wedding-planning along with her full time job as well as supporting her fiance in his new business. She’s a loving sister and daughter and a wonderful friend. She is always there for me even if time difference means she’s on her way to work or in the middle of a deep sleep! I am going to be one of her bridesmaids and wish I was home in the US to be there for all the exciting steps that are bringing her closer to her wedding day because she really deserves to be the center of attention and to feel the love and support of the people closest to her. So in this little way of nominating her for this beautiful prize I am a little more involved in the excitement of the planning that’s going on in Boston! She will be a beautiful bride so I would love for her to be able to incorporate these beautiful elements by Bella Figura in her big day. Thanks!
I’ll nominate my fiance, Erik. He has been next to me throughout this entire wedding planning process, and has supported all of my whimsys each day as I run back and forth between the paper store and our apartment and change my mind about the color scheme and shapes and sizes and calligraphy pens and photo corners a hundred times a day (as well as the decision to make our save the dates by hand). He has been my partner in every decision, and has gently steered me away from those he doesn’t support (a live camel in the reception? a bulldog as the ringbearer (that we don’t own…we actually don’t know anyone who even has a bulldog)? He’s been so supportive and wonderful and amazing and is so invested in planning a wonderful weekend for our family and friends to join us for, that this has turned into an absolutely joyous process. I would love to be able to give him the “Tender is the Night” invitations, as we are both huge fans of F. Scott Fitzgerald and they would go perfectly with the theme that he has chosen, Art Deco. He would be so surprised and happy and honored, which is how I’ve felt for the last six years of our relationship.
I absolutely pick the Simplicity design for my fiance, Christopher. He has been the most patient man in dealing with my (sometimes crazy) wedding planning schemes, and I would love to surprise him with such a simple, classic invitation.
He is so excited about this wedding, and the opportunity to bring his family together for the first time in years - his input and careful planning of the band, the food, and the venue have been wonderful examples of how fantastic we are together. Invitations truly set the tone of an event, and winning these invitations would be an opportunity to not only incorporate the style of our wedding, but also the importance of being environmentally conscious.
Bella Figura’s designs are all truly stunning, but in selecting the most appropriate one for my friends, I choose Vignette. The couple I’m nominating, Angie and Joseph, have been together since high school. Back then, Joseph would drive to our campus and drop off lunch for Angie everyday. And because he is so considerate, he’d supply enough for her friends as well! Even now, 10 years later with their closest high school friends in the wedding party, none of us our surprised that the two are getting married. I remember when we were senior year and leaving for college and I asked Angie whether she feared the distance could cause a rift in their relationship. But she was certain that they would stay together and I had to question how she could be so sure. And what she said has always stayed with me; she said (with a wisdom well beyond her 17 years) that she and Joseph would always be together because “This is as good as it gets.” I nominate this couple because they inspire others for what love, true love, should be. I am honored and proud to be part of their wedding day. Even though she’s in the early stages of planning, I already can foresee that Angie will bring her grace and love of beautiful things to every aspect of the big day. And i know she’d be delighted to include the exquisiteness of Bella Figura. Thanks so much!
I would nominate my fiance, Amy, for the Tuilleries set. She is the most amazing friend, fiance and wedding planner (all while studying for the bar). She has helped turn our apartment into a “Green Zone” - switching all of our light bulbs, making sure we don’t leave lights/ water running when we’re not in the room, and helping us to start a successful recycling effort in our house. She is also making our wedding as green as possible - giving only reusable gift bags for the out of town bags, hiring local vendors, holding our wedding near public transportation, and offering free transportation to our guests so that they don’t all have to drive their cars once they get to Boston! Please pick her!
Hello. I would pick Deveril (gorgeous). My daughter, Emily, and her fiance, Matt would be so appreciative to win this. They are both in graduate school BUT in different states (>2hrs apart). They hardly see eachother but are so darling; they always maintain a sense of humor. They just got engaged but due to their continued crazy schedules do not yet know the exact date of their wedding. They DO know they will have huge financial school loans and have to plan accordingly. Many thanks - I REALLY hope they win! Deb
I nominate my sister, Odette, for the derevil design. She and her husband are planning to have their church wedding next year and she told me how she wished to have letterpressed invites. Unfortunately, they cannot afford it because they are saving up for their son’s surgery.
My sister loves our family so much that she promised to send me and our brother to school so we could also finish aour studies(we lost everything we had during a fire so we have to stop attending school). She’s been through so much pain and hardships. I know I can put a smile on her face if I’ll win this for her.
I am nominating my amazing husband-to-be, Nick. Nick and I met in California, and I have been living there with him for the last five years. Nick has never lived outside the state of California, but when I told him I wanted to be closer to my family, he did everything he could to get his job transferred to bring me nearer to my home on the east coast. Nick sacrificed everything he knew to make me happy.
Now that we are here, Nick has thrown himself into helping me plan our wedding. He has taken an intense interest in all the details to show me how much he loves me and how important this day is to him. He loves the Windsor invitations, and I would love to be able to give them to him. I hope that you will pick my Nick. His extraordinary love and sacrifice makes him the perfect candidate.
I was in wedding planning rehab for a full two years…until my sister was engaged on her three-year anniversary to her now fiance, this past Fourth of July. I’ve come back in full-force planning/research mode and WeddingBee is one of the first places I sought out!
But getting back to the nominee…My sister, Aimee, would love the Estrella suite. She and Chris are planning to get married in Jamaica (another DW bride in the family!) and the relaxed, almost tropical vibe of the invites matches the casual elegance that they’re hoping to achieve with their wedding.
This couple screams young and hip…but green? They could use a little help in that department. I can’t think of a better time for them to begin incorporating an effort to become more environmentally conscious than during wedding planning. They would appreciate the chance to bring a little beauty to their guests’ lives in a responsible way.
[...] - You can still enter the following contests: Estilo Weddings Gift Certificate (last chance!), Bella Figura Letterpress STD/Invitations,and nominate your favorite Polyvore/Minted [...]
I love the Sakura invitation design. The cherry blossoms are indicative of my ethnic background and the typography reminds me of my fiance’s. I’ve been looking for something that would represent our two cultures yet not be overly ethnic…these would be perfect for us!
First, let me introduce you to my fiance and nominee, Link Murray Dupont. We have been together for almost five years and it has been a wonderful, but also difficult journey. My parents who are Vietnamese have always been a bit hesitant about my dating a caucasian. My mom and dad and most of my family members do not speak English. My dad, who was a military man, can be quite intimidating at times. My mom, who is terrified of caucasians because of her limited English, has always told me not “to bring home a white guy.” Then here came Link, a whooping 6′ 2″ graduate who easily towers over my mom! Not only that, but Link was introverted. I was afraid my parents would give my fiance a hard time, and boy did they! Did I mention my dad was a military man?
Since our first date, Link amazed me with his patience and kindness towards my parents. He grew up in a completely different world than I did, however, his compassion and willingness to try to understand our experiences have won my parents over. Link has done everything possible to make sure he’s the gentleman that my dad wanted him to be. He’s mowed the lawn, moved countless objects (including a 500 lbs tv!), and stood up for my dad when others looked down on him. My fiance has put on an apron to try to cook with my mom, he’s woken up at the dawn hour of the morning to clean the house so that my OCD mom would like him, and he’s eaten all of her dinners, both tasty and not tasty.
I can go on and on about how much Link has done for my parents and the love and respect he has for them. We are the original boat people from Vietnam and it’s been extremely difficult for my parents to dream of anything else beside surviving. Link often says that our wedding is a successful immigrant story where two cultures intermingle and a new one begins. He truly inspires me to keep pushing myself and do things for people around me.
For all that my fiance does for my parents and all the love he’s given me, I nominate Link.
I choose to nominate my fiancé, Beth. She is a woman of grace and style, and is working hard to make our wedding day an elegant affair on a modest budget. What inspires me the most about my future wife is that she has incredible compassion for the earth and for mankind. She fills our home with organic, sustainable, and fair-trade goods, and she has dedicated her life to helping others. Amazingly, Beth does not sacrifice elegance and timelessness for compassion. She is a living example of how environmentalism does not have to oblige one to a life of bad taste.
With that, I think the bella figura invitations would be a beautiful gift for Beth. The Plume invitation design is unique and elegant, and I would love to surprise her with something beautiful and sustainable for our wedding.
I am nominating my fiance, John. He grew up with just his mother on the outskirts of Philadelphia with pretty much nothing. He immigrated to America when he was 7, and ever since he has been on a mission to constantly grow himself and gain victories along the way. He was the captain of his state-champion high school wrestling team and received the Bill Gates Scholarship for a full four years to the University of Michigan. After Michigan, John went to New York to paralegal at one of New York’s biggest and baddest law firms, Sullivan and Cromwell. He now is about to start his last year of law school at Temple, is finishing up his summer associate position with Stradley, Ronon, Stevens and Young LLP, all while loving, supporting, and buying a ring for the ever-fragile inner-city school teacher that is me. He deserves these invitations because it will be one less thing he has to pay for for our wedding. He is pretty much using all of his savings from his two years of paralegaling and two summers of being a summer associate on my ring and our wedding. He is wonderful. =)
I am nominating my bridesmaid, Esther. She has been a great friend to me for the past ten years, giving me advice and sticking with me through thick and thin. She and her fiance, Joe, just got engaged about a month ago and are just getting used to the sticker shock that comes hand-in-hand with planning a wedding. Although they come from two very traditional Vietnamese families (where the parents usually pitch in for the huge 300+ guest festivites), Esther and Joe are trying their best to pay for the wedding all on their own. I’d love for them to worry about one less thing by receiving these invitations.
My favorite design is the Nouveau.
For nearly a year, I have seen how excited my roommate Lauren is about getting married. Long before her engagement in February, Lauren would show me cute flower girl dresses and beautiful flower arrangements, steadily compiling a collection of ideas in order to create her perfect wedding. She spends much of her time checking out wedding blogs and researching reception venues, procrastinating from doing her homework although just weeks away from graduating from college this summer. Starting in August, Lauren will be joining Americorps working at a local community college to develop a community service program. I know that she will be absolutely great at this position. Having met her when she was president of the Amnesty International club at school several years ago, I know that she has a knack for organizing events and is also very concerned about the world around her. As her roommate this past year, I have seen how she takes that consciousness into her daily life. Her concern for the environment means that she never uses the dishwasher to conserve water and that there is a stack of magazines in our living room waiting to be recycled. I must admit that I thought she was crazy when I saw her wash out a plastic Ziploc bag once, but it just goes to show how conscientious Lauren can be. Likewise, Lauren hopes to find a wedding venue that will benefit a nonprofit or bring money into a poorer area of her city. As her roommate, I have witnessed not only her excitement about marrying her fiancé and her dedication to do good, but also her anxieties about paying for a wedding considering she will not be able to save money during her service in Americorps. For these reasons, Lauren merits a set of these beautiful invitations. I know that she would love the Circolo 2 invitations because they would go perfect with the modern feel she wants for her wedding.
I nominate my cousin and his fiance for the wedding invitations! They are getting married this year and got engaged just before my fiance and I did. My cousin’s fiance is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She works at a salon about 250 miles from my house, and anytime I’m in town she is sure to have an appointment for me! She gives me the best haircuts I’ve ever had, and is very good at helping me get the cut I want. She is fun and very girl-next-door… she lives in the same rural town as my cousin, who had always encouraged this city girl to try all sorts of fun farm pastimes! I’m not sure if they’ll be doing a modern wedding or not, but I know that I love Circolo 1 and really, who doesn’t love dots?
I nominate my beautiful mother, who is named after the chrysanthemum. Symbolically, the chrysanthemum has very polar meanings. In some cultures, the chrysanthemum means lamentation and grief; whereas in the United States, it is usually regarded as positive and cheerful. This is my mom. She had endured so much as a woman. The death of her siblings, her second child, the death of her home and country (aftermath of war), the death of many of her dreams. But, you will see that she stands so proudly, so forgivingly, so amazingly tall in the midst of her struggles. She immigrated to the United States, with near to nothing on her back and has raised two daughters who love and respect her tremendously. Thus, if she were to win, she has already said what she would choose. “Thank you” cards. So as you can see, she is just so selfless…even if she were lucky enough to “win” all she wants to do is give back. Say thank you to people. And I believe that that is the true measure of a person. The true meaning of “recycling.” Giving back. Mom likes the Vignette and Nonpareil styles best, but she says “wow, if I win, I would love any style they give me! very pretty!” <3 She is so cute!
My fiance and I love the botanical daisy invitations so this would be perfect!
I absolutely HAVE to nominate him because he does all he can to uplift the people around him. He works full-time while also going to school full-time and splitting the wedding planning and house work with me. In our wedding planning he has done as much work as I have and when I showed him those invitations he told me that we need to be budget conscious but if he could he would buy them.
He is devoted to his family, job, and our future together. Above all, He is a truly egalitarian feminist partner who respects my beliefs and autonomy. I believe he deserves this!
tuileries is lovely! I nominate my sister, who’s doing her best to helm a budget wedding!! She’s in med school right now, and finances are tight.
The Windsor invitations are classic, elegant and understated, which is perfect for my fiancee Elizabeth.
She deserves to win the invitations because she has decided to marry me even though I’m bringing $200,000 in student loan debt to our life together. If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.
I nominate my fiance to win because she has agreed to continue to live in NY instead of returning to CA to be with her family. She’s going to live in this city with me until I am ready to move with her to CA. She’s an angel and desreves whatever she wants!
I’d like to nominate my Finance. Gorgeous wedding invites like these aren’t quite in the budget. But he has a taste for the finer things. He likes simple classic elegance so the Viennese Waltz is perfect. This will save him from fearing what I will come up with DIY and add a little flair of elegance to our invites. I think he would be thrilled!
I nominate my wonderful fiance to receive the Soleil invitations because if we don’t win, he’ll have to deal with the fact that I just might buy my very own Chandler and Price tabletop letterpress and do it myself! Though he won’t have to pay for it, he will be one of the official transporters of the 200 lb. behemoth. Poor guy.
I nominate my fiancee Lauren for the Circolo 2 Invitations. She is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, and I am so lucky to have her. I have been friends with her for 8 years and have been together for over 3. She is my best friend in the world, and truly a dream come true. We both care about the environment and are trying to do all we can to make our wedding as green as can be. I love that fact that you have an eco-friendly shop and that would fit in perfectly with what we are looking for. She is graduating college in a couple of weeks and has a non profit job lined up with AmeriCorps VISTA. With her working that job, and my low paying job as a photographer we will barely be able to afford an apartment let alone work on making our dream wedding happen. These invitations would help us out so much. Please consider her for the contest. Thank you for your time.
I would like to nominate my fiance Laura. I know that she absolutely loves the Viennese Waltz invitations. And here’s why I think she should win them. We’re trying to work within a very limited budget for our wedding. Both of us are recent law school graduates, bridled with excessive school debt. Despite that, we’re both working (for peanuts) in the public interest field, trying to make the world a better place. All of this together, however, means we little to work with for our wedding next year. Nothing would make Laura happier (or make me the best fiance ever!) than to tell her we’ve won the Viennese Waltz invitations!
I apologize for re-posting this - i had previously posted under my company’s email address never realizing it was against corporate policy to use work email on message boards! Needless to say I got in alot of trouble. Well here we go again…..
I nominate my soon to be husband, Charles. I met him a month after I graduated from Manhattan College - It was in his second year at the US Military Academy - West Point, NY. From the moment I met him I knew he was the one… I came back home that day and I told my mother, I found the love of my life! From that day on - he has truly been a blessing in my life. He has made me a better person in ways I can’t even describe. This past March, he went out of his way to completely surprise me with a “weekend trip”-I thought we were going to California, his home state. So I packed my bags while he managed to sneak my passport out and finally at the airport he showed me the ticket and it was… PARIS!!!! I never in my wildest dreams expected such a surprise. As if it couldn’t get any better than a surprise trip to Paris, he proposed to me in front of the Eiffel Tower!! It’s something I will never forget and an experience we look forward to sharing with our kids!
Prior to West Point - he was enlisted and stationed in Korea for 2 years. During this time his commanding officer noticed that he had an amazing gift to lead and inspire people. He encouraged and assisted him through the application process and for a 22 year old, enlisted Hispanic soldier, getting in wasn’t an easy task. After submitting his application more than once, he finally got into West Point. He has been committed to serving his country since the day he enlisted and will continue to do so without any regret, fear or hesitance… Something many of us would not be able to do.
His father was an immigrant from Honduras and it was his dream to see his son, the epitome of the American dream, graduate from West Point. Unfortunately his father passed away during his first semester there. In exactly 299 days from today Charles will graduate from West Point (May 23, 2009). If you are wondering why I know the exact days left till his graduation – well aside from this great accomplishment - the following day May 24, 2009 we will be getting married!! Our reception will also take place at West Point.
Although these are two very special and happy moments in his life… I do know how much he wishes his dad could be there. And although our fathers cannot be present to celebrate his graduation and our wedding - we would like include their names in the SOMERSBY or ESTRELLA invitation –- he has expressed his desire to have our invitations issued by our parents. Even though they will not be around physically – it will serve as a way of honoring them for their guidance, support and involvement in our lives. I know Charles would absolutely be extremely grateful for this giveaway!
Upon graduation he will have an additional commitment of 4 years to the US Army. As we start our lives together- nothing is certain – we are not sure until 3 months before the wedding, where in the world we will be stationed – we are not sure when and if he will get deployed – but one thing that he ALWAYS reminds me of – is that he loves me and that the love we have for each other will help us overcome any obstacle. For this and for many other reasons that are unexplainable - I nominate the sweetest and most genuine fiancé ever!
thanks!!!
With our new year’s eve wedding approaching it is time to decide on our invitations. After months of searching (the engagement has gone on nearly two years now) my fiance, Sally, showed me this one the other day. On a daily basis I receive several emails from her, each with a different invitation. In total I have seen well over 1000 invitations. The fact that she only sends me the ones she likes means that she has browsed upwards of 10,000 invitations. Unfortunately my email box only holds 1 gigabyte of email and with two years of wedding invitations sitting around, incoming messages are starting to bounce. These invitations are ideal because of the new year’s eve theme. Their timing is impeccable. Please help end Sally’s quest for the perfect invitation and my battle with an overstuffed inbox.
Oops, I forgot to say that it is the “Champagne” invitation that is perfect.
My absolute favorite is the Windsor, I have even ordered a sample that I drool over
I nominate my best friend Katie and her fiance Travis, she is one of the sweetest people around, and is always there for me when I need her. She deserves these gorgeous invitations since she’s such a gorgeous girl inside and out ![]()
I would like to nominate Andrea to win the Classic Calligraphy invitations. She is not aware that I am doing this, but as her fiancé, I wake up each day and am touched by how hard she is working to make our wedding day a true expression of our love for each other. She has inspired me with her simple yet elegant taste, and her loving attitude in beginning to bring our families together through this process. She saw this website and immediately fell in love with your invitations, but begrudgingly moved on, believing her favorite design to be out of reach. I know that many requests have been made with regards to this kind offer, and thank you for considering Andrea!
I nominate my daughter Jenny who right this moment is sitting for her bar exam in Lincoln, Nebraska (which is miles and miles away from home). She hopes to be legal council for a non profit supporting women and families when she passes. The day after she graduated from University of Rochester, she got a job working on a senatorial campaign in Omaha. She packed her car and drove 2 days to get there ,not knowing a soul. I think that was very brave. She ended up staying andworking (where she met her fiance)and attending law school. Her internships have centered around helping people not just making money.
Her favorite design is Deveril. We both believe in supporting artisans and earth friendly companies. Did i mention that we both love to fondle fine paper and stationary and covet beautiful fonts and engraving?
I would like to nominate Jeremy to win the Modern Calligraphy invitations.
I hate to say that anybody here isn’t as great for this as him but I’ll just admit that I am partial and want to brag about him! I’ve personally never been the “green-minded” type but he has opened my eyes while being so helpful and engaged with our planning. Every time I try to argue that some little change isn’t going to make a big difference, his favorite reminder is, “rain drops fill oceans.” He grew up right on the Gulf
coast of Florida on a protected harbor and was close to the Everglades as well so you wouldn’t believe the amount of times “watershed” and
“run-off” come out of his mouth! I - of COURSE - love him for it!
We had our venues narrowed to three places and he managed to convince me
to change my mind to the historic house and gardens that needs ZERO flowers to decorate. He had to push about the wastefulness of the
flowers and all the energy used to transport them for about a week to get me to cave. I’m so amazed at how involved he wants to be with our
planning. He always suggests a green alternative for stuff but will always give a little on the things I “MUST” have! He’s setting up a private website for us so all of our RSVPs can be e-mailed, sent from the website or left as voice messages on a remote mailbox so we don’t have to waste envelopes and paper on the return cards. Also, he’s setting it up so our registries will be on referral networks that donate 1% of our guests’ purchases to wind energy development. He got me a big box of premium recycled paper for me to Gocco our table namecards after searching for two weeks to find more eco-friendly ink.
I’ll save the space here as I could go on and on but I know that it would mean so much to him that I made a case for these invites all on my
own! Best of luck to everyone!
This is a little strange but I am nominating my FI’s youngest brother’s Girlfriend. They are likely to get engaged in the next year. She has been wonderful. Not only is she always up for wedding help but we just moved into a hosue we just bought and we had to do demolition, cosntruction, painting, cleaning and clean out our old place. She has been there helping with everything. From helping scub the bult up grease off the underside of the kitchen cabinets & pulling down sheetrock to cleaning the carpets and painting. And to top it all off she is studying for her nursing boards and working too! Melissa M is the best!
I absolutely love the “Deveril” invitations. My fiancé and I were just looking at them the other day and we both really liked the simple elegance of the style. I would like to nominate my fiancé to win this contest. While I don’t have a heart-wrenching story nor even a “green” angle, I think he is the most wonderful man in the world for being patient and forgiving of all my flaws and loving me for exactly who I am. He is the most optimistic person I know and is always able to find the silver lining in any situation. Which is the perfect foil to my pessimistic tendencies. Throughout the whole wedding planning process, and all the family stress it has entailed for us, he has never let me forget the true purpose of the day, which is the celebration of our lifelong commitment to each other.
P.S. I like the Nantucket but I bet Melissa M would love the Dolce!
I would like to nominate my fiance, Noah for the Deveril design. We are currently looking at invites and he simply loves this set. As most of you many men don’t really get too enthused about “all things wedding”, but Noah is set on having an inviation that is his style. It is great to see him so hands on. The Deveril design would be his pick, but it is out of our budget. We would truly be blessed to be chosen! Thanks for the opportunity!
I would ld like to nomintate my fiance Dennis for the botanical collection. He works so hard for everything. We just bought a house a few months ago and he has been working non-stop to make it our dream home in the future. He has been buying a few engery star appliances and changing the light bulbs to more engergy efficient ones. He works overtime at the DEP all the time to save money for the house and the wedding. We were considering doing the invitations our selves but this would really help out our budget since we are paying for the wedding ourselves. I love him with all my heart. He is a wonderful, loving human being. Please consider him for this oppourtunity.
the botanical collection by MAURA GAUTHIER “Leaves.” I’ve been swooning over these invites forever. Alas, letterpress isn’t in the budget. You’ll make me the happiest lady in all of NY if you pick me. ![]()
My sister Laur totally deserves these invitations. She would love the Circolo 2 design. Laur is always very environmentally conscientious. She always recycles, she reuses plastic bags, and she rides her bike or walks instead of driving whenever she can. Laur loves paper products and really cares about design and even how the paper feels. She wants her invitations to be wonderful enough that people won’t throw them away. These invitations are definately beautiful, so they are just perfect. Laur was in Amnesty International in high school and college, volunteers everywhere and is going to take a year-long volunteer position starting in August. Since it only pays some money for living expenses, she won’t be able to save money, and it will be hard to create her dream wedding. If she has to make them herself, I’d have to help, and I’m not up to these standards. (I’m only 11!) Laur deserves these invitations. Thanks for your time!
I would like to Nominate my friend Jen for the Simplicity. Jen and her fiance Adam are planning and paying for their wedding themselves. I know Jen hasn’t been able to afford most of the things she has wanted for her wedding, but she is the kind of girl who just rolls with the punches and keeps a smile on her face while she’s printing Save the Dates on a laser printer at home (even when you know she’s dreaming of letterpress). Not only that, but the girl has an unbelievable heart for animals and I suspect that a lot of money they could be putting towards fancy favors has gone to support dogs and cats who need homes. Thanks!
We love the Printemps design–classic calligraphy is a close second. I nominate my fiance. He is the kindest person I’ve ever known, and he came into my life exactly when I needed him–right as my mother got very sick and passed away. He loves animals, cooking dinner, and routinely walks into town rather than taking the car. I feel so lucky to have him.
I nominate my fiance for the Guild invitations because for the past two weeks, every free second of his time during the torrential downpours we have been having in MA, he has been re-roofing his grandmothers house for her. He does nothing but think of other people before himself and I think he deserves a little something every now and then
These invitations would make him very happy!
I nominate my cousin (who’s more like a sister) Kari. In our small family, she is the oldest of our 4 cousins and has always been dreaming of getting married first and having that beautiful romantic wedding. Well, now she is finally engaged but having the biggest heart that she does, she has chosen the sweetest small town farmer in South Dakota. She has her eye on a romantic, antique style wedding and I know that the PROMENADE design would bring tears to her eyes! The second I saw it I thought of her, she would love it and totally deserves it with all she has been through to get to this happy day!! Pick her!
I’d like to nominate my best friend RHZ for this contest. I actually posted about her engagement in my last weddingbee post, and since then I’ve had such a wonderful time both observing and participating in her wedding planning. The Deveril design would be an absolutely perfect complement to the elegant Southern soiree she has in mind!
I truly admire RHZ and her fiance, because when it seemed like everyone else was moving out of New Orleans, they moved in. They’ve embraced their adopted city - so much so that her engagement ring even features a fleur-de-lis in the setting! They’re a fantastic and generous couple who not only care deeply about their friends, family, and loved ones, but also want to do everything they can to leave their community a little better than they found it.
I nominate my fiance. He is a graphic designer and I had already tasked him to design all of our paper goods. And while he would be excellent at it, I can’t help but add my two cents… to the point of sketching my design idea. Truth be told, he deserves a break. I think he’d appreciate the clean lines and leaf-like design of the Estrella design. Then he can apply his creative influence to all the other pieces without me looking over his shoulder.
He’s also an avid recycle-er in a state where that’s quite unusual. He’s dedicated in his sorting to determine which plastics are accepted and I think he’s about to start a grassroots campaign to get them to accept cereal boxes!
How do you pick just one–they are all so beautiful! My top picks are: Deveril, Plume, & Tender is the Night.
A much easier decision is the nominee–my fiancee! Of course I’ve always thought he was a great guy, otherwise I wouldn’t be (gladly) spending my life with him! But most importantly, we found out 9 months before the wedding that I have a very uncommon disorder, and I am not able to have children. This was an enormous blow to us, since we were hoping to start our family right after the honeymoon. Obviously we postponed the wedding, and it will now be Spring 2009. I always knew my fiancee was a funny, supportive, thoughtful, smart guy–but how he has helped me through this and stood by me has been amazing. Knowing that committing himself to me knows we cannot have our own biological children, he is still with me, supporting me, making me laugh–and even though we’ve cried alot and had to re-do much of our wedding planning, he is still right beside me. I am truly blessed to be marrying this man!!!
My mother deserves to win for three simple reasons:
1) she has given me everything and anything she can to make my life better…even if the immediate I was opposed
2) she is paying for my entire wedding because both FH and I are grad students and have NO savings
3) she is going through a lot right now, and I want to make her happy.
Riviera is my favorite as we are having the wedding on a river ![]()
I am nominating my fiance Fernando for the Viennese Waltz invitations. They are elegant and classy, just like the wedding that he wants to ‘give me.’ Fernando has facial paralysis, and although it has never been an issue for me, he is having reconstructive surgery from a miracle-neurosurgeon at UCLA before our wedding. He always expresses to me how important the wedding is to him, but with so many medical bills past and upcoming, we just work with what we have. I know that this gift will increase his anticipation to our wedding day…while recuperating.
I am nominating my husband-to-be. He is my best friend, and I am as excited to join his family as he is to join mine. These invitations would mean so much to him, as he loves good design, and is passionate about being eco-friendly. He has been passionate about purchasing green products for our home, and has even influenced the company he works for to used recycled copy paper. A large feat, considering he is only an intern.
I think the Plume design would be perfect for us.. the background is traditional and formal, which is more my fiancé’s style, and the font used is more funky, which is more my style. Together the background and font make a beautiful, intriguing design. The design is very much like our relationship, and I would love to surprise him with these invitations. He would be so proud of me for choosing an eco-friendly design!
My daughter Abbie is the person all of her friends look to when planning their weddings. The STD cards in either calligraphy of the guild would be the icing on the cake for Abbie!!
The Sylvan is so completely lovely. I’m nominating my fiancee, which I suppose is sort of like nominating myself. Our tiny wedding budget doesn’t leave space for little luxuries (or big ones like a pro photographer!) and he has been a complete dear about hand writing our 100 postcard Save the Dates. The man lives a generally conscious life, eco and otherwise. Everything with the word wedding attached comes with a big stressful price tag, and he keeps me focused on what matters. Waking up June 21st married! I would love to show him how fun beautiful little indulgences like these can be.
I nominate my son

this was an easy one. the botanicals tulip invitation, my fiancee has been drooling over it and it would be perfect for our may 2nd wedding!
my fiancee deserves to win this because not only is she making a commitment to an environmentally friendly wedding, but she tries to live an environmentally friendly life. we eat local grown organic food, we use biodegradable green cleaning products, and she makes a point to conserve and reduce unnecessary waste.
the opportunity to give her these invitations (that fit perfectly with our wedding) would be a really good gift, and only a small thank you for being a wonderful partner.
