Mrs. Avocado, Seattle Age and Occupation: 23, Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Consultant Engagement Date: July 27, 2008 Wedding Date: October, 2008 Blogging Since: June 30, 2008 Venue: LDS Seattle Temple & Hotel 1000 About Me: Somehow this little farm girl found herself a genuine Pole to fall in love and eventually move away to Poland with. I am an LDS bride attempting to plan a private religious ceremony, ring ceremony, seated reception for 100, and an open house while coordinating for guests flying in from across the United States and as far away as Poland. About Mrs. Avocado

Benvenuto and Witajcie

July 29th, 2008 @ 6:09 pm by Mrs. Avocado

It took my parents quite a long time to get used to the idea that their little farm girl would be moving away to Poland one day. At one time, Mr. Avocado was positive that his future wife would have to see Poland before making the decision to live there permanently, but after several months of dating we felt right about making the decision to marry without such a trip.

Once the seriousness of our relationship become clear to my parents, they really wanted me to go, and Mr. Avocado and I were completely on board. The decision to go was made only a few weeks prior to our departure date and so all of the planning had to happen rather quickly.

It was decided that my mom and I would visit Italy for a few days (giving me a chance to utilize the three semesters of Italian I had taken), and then tour around with the future in-laws in Mr. Avocado’s hometown.

As plans progressed, the idea of a “bridal shoot” in Rome developed. My mom is a wedding photographer, and so it was only a matter of finding a dress. My mom has a fun collection of cheap eBay wedding dresses she has been building up over time, and she sent one of her purchases over to me to see if it might fit.

To put it lightly, it fit more like a sausage case than a dress, as it took two people five minutes to get me zipped up inside of the thing. You know how in Victorian movies, the girl breathes a huge sigh of relief when she is released from her corset? That is how I felt when I took it off. I would like to point out that I am sporting what I have affectionately nicknamed my “Carb Induced Food Baby.” I was also running low on conditioner and apparently I feel that the best solution to this is washing my hair less, rather than buying more of the $3 Aussie I use.

It was decided that the “butt bow” dress seen above would NOT work, and without any other viable options, we were beginning to think that the dress shoot in Rome was not going to happen…

Will you be moving to a new city, state or country after you get married?

Yep! Just a month before the wedding I’ll be packing my bags to move somehwere even more unlikely than Poland, if that’s possible! FH and I are going to settle down in New Delhi, India for the first few years of our marriage. He’s a Nepali Indian citizen, and I’m white, so it’s sure to be an adventure…

I’ll be moving from Korea to Virginia a couple months before the wedding, and then from Virginia to Michigan after the wedding. FI is in the military, so I think I have to get used to moving now!

i’ll be moving to Pittsburgh once the nuptials are done. thats about 900 miles away from my summer all the time state.

lots of emotions there…..but wedding planning has proven a nice distraction from moving away from all i know here to what i dont quite know there.

I only wish we were moving! Alas, I’m here in southern California until I’m a little further along in my grad program (grrr).

I want to hear more about your time in Italy and Poland! Give us the bloggy goodness!

If all goes according to plan, we will be moving from the south burbs to the western burbs of Chicago. So exciting, I know :) Moving is so stressful though, I can’t imagine leaving the country! I can’t wait to hear all about your adventure!

I thought you weren’t going to be moving to Poland for at least 5 years - has that been moved up?

I’ll be moving from the Twin Cities, MN to Jackson, MS right after the wedding, and then maybe 4-5 months after, from Jackson to Grad School City… which is still undecided. Kind of nervewracking. :S But not so much as moving to a foreign country! You’ve got guts, Miss A.

@ustwiggie: I followed you over to your blog, and your story is VERY interesting. It sounds like we will have a lot to conspire about someday when we are both trying to get used to a new language and a new culture!

@groomzilla: Thanks groomzilla, I’ll be sure to pass that on to her. Wait until you see my next few posts!

@enmoore66: Interesting that you brought that up, expect a blog post from me on that very topic rather soon……

Ms. 122

i moved to tennessee on a whim, where i met mr. 122. then i moved back to seattle, and mr. 122 eventually made his way out here too. i’m definitely the moving type, hate being tied to one place for too long. i think he’s becoming more of that way too. i think mine stems from living on a boat for a year with my family. i’m sure if mr. 122 goes career navy we’ll be moving a lot over the years. but poland?! that’s awesome!

I moved to Germany in January of 2007 with my then boyfriend (now fiancee) who is German. We got engaged last summer and are planning a wedding to take place in RI but will return to Germany after the wedding as I am about to start grad school here. I’m still learning the language and getting used to being so far from my family and friends. Good luck!

@Slicey19: Sounds like we have a lot in common. I’m impressed that you learned German, Polish is so difficult for me, I can never imagine mastering it.
