For our wedding, I’ve decided I wanted something… firmer… than the average ring pillow. In fact, I want to forgo fabric and plush entirely for a more “natural” look. And while I think the ever-popular Paloma’s Nest Ring Bowls are beautiful, they just aren’t quite what I’m looking for.
I want something that evokes a natural, rustic, ambiance without being puffy or floofy. I’m quite taken with these moss and twig “nests”…
1. Very pretty, but a bit too “puffy.”
2. Mrs. Radish’s own DIY ring pillow!
3. Lovely nest, but our wedding is bird-free
Somewhere along the way, I became smitten with these ring pillows from Muscari Designs:
They’re a simple birch “slice” with a hole drilled in the center. There’s a ribbon threaded through the hole and knotted on both sides to prevent slippage. They’re only $10 on Etsy!
If I had a choice, I’d opt for a wood other than birch - perhaps a native evergreen tree, maple, or aspen. But aren’t they beautiful as-is?
Ultimately, our ring pillow will be a total surprise to us. Our ring bearer is the son of our officiant, a very crafty woman who will also be making us some rustic, wooden table numbers and wedding signs. Her son is similarly inclined, and with her wood shop at his disposal, he’ll be making our ring “pillow” as his wedding gift to us.
What a relief to not have to decide on one little aspect of the wedding. That alone is a great gift, but I’m definitely also looking forward to seeing what he comes up with!
How will your ring bearer carry your rings?
