Let’s Hear it For the Boys!

July 30th, 2008 @ 5:40 pm by Miss Sweet Tea

Linky link time, bees! It’s time to give it up for our forgotten blogging kin, the elusive groom bloggers.

First up are Emerson and Michael:

These two are planning their fabulous wedding in North Carolina, and I *so* wish I was a guest at this one!

Think: organic food straight from the farm (even little piggies… yum), a brass band, and of course two handsome grooms. Mrs. Gingerbread’s written so beautifully on marriage equality already, but this post is a must-read; it brought tears to my eyes.

Next is The Engaged Guy:

st1

In short, he is frakkin’ hilarious. If Mr. ST had a blog, this would be it. His offbeat spin to wedding planning, and his love of bobblehead dolls really takes the cake (har har). Definitely worth a read!

Finally, the newcomer to the block, Groomzilla:

(Sorry dude, you need a bigger picture!)

Sassy and South Asian, Groomzilla has been sighted buzzing around the hive lately, especially when there’s a BeeTV broadcast on! You are our long lost brother bee, aren’t you! (Not to forget the real BILBee, of course). Another fun read.

Any other great male wedding bloggers the hive should know about? Trot them out here!

I think a groom bee would be an awesome addition to the hive! ;)

Ditto! I think another groom would be great (don’t want to forget abour Mr. Monkey) :)
Is Groomzilla Mr & Mrs Hum’s Best Man?

yiyi says:

Oh, sorry Mr. Monkey. I arrived to Weddingbee after that time. Yes, definitely, _more_ groom bees would be great. :)

Does the Weddingbee blogger committee accept applications from grooms to be? If a partner of an accepted bee wants to be like Mr. Monkey, how easy is it for them to get their own icon to post independently?

Thanks for this post :) I love Emerson and Michael! I think some groom voices and particularly gay groom voices (what can I say, I’m biased) would be a great addition to the Hive! Hey, Emerson! Michael! Apply to blog on Weddingbee!!!

@kelly: I’ve added your suggestion to my Google Reader. And here I thought I’d stop reading so many wedding blogs after getting married. Silly me!

Mrs. G, I’ll be sure to let you know how the wedding goes! It’s my cousin and his partner, and I just could not be more excited! I think I am more excited for their wedding than for my own…!

My FH and I have been talking about this and have decided he’ll be the one that will apply, although we’re still a ways out (Fall 2010). So keep an eye out for the only eco-minded, hippy cowboy in Wyoming to be blogging about planning our wedding in the near future!

Hey guys - we’ve actually never had a groom blogger apply! Mr. Monkey is my good friend, and we asked him if we could re-post his personal blogs to Weddingbee. All the other male bloggers have been engaged or married to a Bee…

@yiyi: “If a partner of an accepted bee wants to be like Mr. Monkey, how easy is it for them to get their own icon to post independently?” - If the partner of an accepted bee wants to blog regularly, I’m guessing they would have to apply? We’ve never had that situation come up, so I’m just thinking out loud here.

@Mrs. Gingerbread: Sure a gay groom would be great! Feel free to encourage anyone to apply - the key thing for us is that the blog be well-written and fit our application criteria:

On a side note, AMEN that Mass is now allowing out of state gay couples to marry in MA, like CA did recently. Being from RI, although not gay, I am so excited about this.

Thank you so much for the referral and the sweet things you said. We’re so happy you like the blog. We’d totally invite you if we could afford it!

We’ll think about applying to blog here. The hive is definitely the place to be.

And thank you to everyone who’s trucked on over. Continue to stop by, provided we haven’t killed each other between now and October.

I really liked Mike over at The Groom’s Truth, but he no longer posts since his wedding. He was quite hilarious. Go here to read his old posts: http://www.thegroomstruth.com/

I think it’d be fun to see some men blogging here! I think my fiance would only do it if he got to have a “manly” name. Like Mr. Baseball Glove or Mr. Monster Truck. :)
