Helloooo hive! I cannot express to you how honored I am to be a part of this wonderful community! My motto is simple: relax, have fun, and plan a big celebration! Mr. Champagne (or “Champ”, as he wishes to be called) and I have been together for what seems like forever, and I’m so excited to share inspiration with fellow bride to beeees… I know, a bit of a stretch. Sorry.
So why champagne of all the yummy drinks?
Because there’s always a reason to celebrate! Today it might be because we sent in the deposit for our band, and tomorrow it could be because we decided we’ll use gold flatware instead of silver. Always a reason…
Mr. Champagne and I met in college in a small town outside of Boston. We come from very different backgrounds, and each of us brings something very different to the table. He pushes me to want the very best in life, and at times I help him slow down a little. It just works. I’m from a small town in Colorado, and he’s from the Boston area. Believe it or not, I graduated with five people in my high school class. No we didn’t ride in buggies, and yes we did have cable television. My parents always joke and say I took a ruler to a map and chose my college based on the farthest mileage. After college, I stayed in the Boston area for optometry school, and Mr. Champagne moved to DC for law school. We did the whole long distance thing and it completely sucked, but now we’re happier than ever!
It’s insane planning a wedding from this far away, and it’s even more insane when the wedding will be in a resort town where EVERYTHING is quadruple the price. It’s actually one of the reasons Champ and I have been engaged for almost two years—our chapel and reception site had to be reserved that far in advance! I’ve gotta stop for a second—Champ makes him sound like a puppy or a five year-old boy… maybe he should rethink that.
Anyhoo, I am so excited to be a part of the hive and can’t wait to get to know all of you!
I leave you with a few more reasons to love champagne:
Mimosa »
A simple 50 -50 mix of juice and Champagne and you have the Mimosa. Some suggest the addition of an ounce of orange liqueur. The original Mimosa is credited to the Ritz Hotel in Paris and was originally served in 1925.
Bucks Fizz »
Often interchanged with the Mimosa, the one variation being the addition of grenadine to give it a different color and sweetness.
French 75 »
Henry’s bar in Paris is credited with this popular mix of Champagne and Gin. It’s popularity has spawned many variations taking on different numbers - French 25, 45 , 65 etc.
The Bellini »
This classic champagne drink, currently enjoying a revival, was originally created at Harry’s Bar in Venice. The mix of champagne with peach nectar (or juice)… sooo yummy.
The Champagne-tini »
Similar to the French 75 (made with Gin and Champagne), this drink adds a touch of orange liqueur and becomes a Martini when served in a martini style glass.
Sounds so bubbly and yummy huh?!
So you know why I’m celebrating, now what’s your reason to celebrate?
