Going With the Flow

July 31st, 2008 @ 1:18 pm by Mrs. Gingerbread

Sorry to leave you hanging, Hive. I know I promised more pictures and recaps, but I’ve been in a post-wedding fog. All the joy, love, and excitement have rendered me speechless! I’m trying to snap out of it though, because I have so much that I want to share with you. Part of the problem is figuring out where to even begin, so I think I’ll start some place easy with the hopes that this will jump start me back into my old posting frenzied ways. How about where I left off as I was running out the door to meet with our officiant lunch and then to our rehearsal?

One thing that I am really grateful for was having an officiant who knew what she was doing. Her calmness, focus and understanding of us as people really put me at ease. As luck would have it, her hotel upgraded her to a suite so she suggested that rather than go out for lunch, we stay in and order room service. As soon as we entered her room all of the wedding stress melted away. I felt like I was on the moving walkway at the airport. No point in trying to fling myself off the moving walkway to go mess with some wedding detail that was just all wrong. At the end of the walkway is the wedding and the best thing I could do was just go with the flow and enjoy myself. Hey, the moving walkway is actually pretty fun!

After a long lunch, we headed over to the rehearsal. About half the rehearsal participants were late due to crappy traffic issues, but we made the best of it soaking up the beauty of our venue. Aki took a bunch of shots at the rehearsal (lucky us!) so I thought I’d share some of them with you.

Flower kiddos get some coaching from Aki’s wife, Reiko, who was our volunteer day of coordinator.

Our flower girl left her brother in the dust. She was a little excited :)

Here come the brides.

Check out that backdrop!!!

Mama Gingerbread practices her part.

Practicing the “we’re married” exit.

Now that the rehearsal was over it was time to rush home to prep for the rehearsal dinner. Of course, we hit horrible traffic and ended up late to our own party. Fortunately, our landlord stepped in and saved the day… but that’s for another post.

I love that last photo, and can’t wait to see more pictures from this beautiful place! Somehow it reminds me of where my best friend got married in the mountains outside Atlanta.

A few things:
For starters, I love the moving walkway analogy and have sent this link to my MOH so she reminds me of it when my wedding rolls around - thank you.
Secondly, I had forgotten how breathtaking your backdrop was. Its official, I am jealous!
Thirdly, in the 2nd to last picture MRS GB 2.0 looks like she’s giddy and ready to skip!! Its soo cute!
And lastly, I hope you print up that last picture somewhere to keep around the house. Even though its just hands, it exudes love.
