Medicine For Tired Soles

July 31st, 2008 @ 3:38 pm by Mrs. Margarita

Thanks to everyone who gave me some great ideas/advice for my heel dilemma. Yesterday I went online shopping and bought foot petals, insolias and superfeet. I figure one or maybe some crazy combination of them all will ease the pain. Now I am praying for mojo and hunting for a pair of flats, wedges or flip flops to wear if I can no longer move in my dream heels.

Flip Flops?

Casual Reefs in bronze or gold?

Slightly more dressy Gabriella Rocha gold flats?

Wedges? I realize that a wedge is still a heel, but I think it would still be a little easier on my feet. Plus I’d still have height so my outfit won’t be dragging.

Crazy/Fun Betsey Johnson wedges

Gentle Souls “Lisa Lee” Wedge

Taryn Rose Bronze Patent wedge (I think these are my fav)

Taryn Rose Gold Braided Wedge

Cute flats?

Hush Puppy Gold Flats

Naturalizer Gold Peep Toe Flats
Taryn Rose Gold Peep Toe Flats

How about a combo of wedge and flip-flop? A chunky-bottomed flip-flop would be way comfy, but keep your dress from dragging. :-)

I was just thinking the same as magpie- you’ll probably want a comfy shoe with some height because of your dress!

I agree with magpie.

If you go the wedge route, don’t make them like the first pair in the wedge category - your feet will hate you. They will already be in pain from your beauties from the ceremony and photos, give them actual relief. Either flip flops, or a wedge like wedge # 2 that wont further wreck your feet. (Or - I third the magpie good idea - a combo of the two.)

I’m agreeing with everyone else so far. But if you do go with the top Reef’s- I’ve had them for the past 2 years and they’re still as comfortable as ever

As long as the wedges will be a relief from the heels, cuz I love the wedges you picked out!

Wedges hands down, although I disagree with the chunky flip-flop route. You don’t want to hear that slapping noise every step you take. The flats are cute but any time you wear shoes with no arch support (flats, flip-flops etc) your arches will hurt after a while. IMO wearing flats for an extended period of time is worse than heels. But that’s just me.

At my wedding I wore 3 inch spiked heels for the ceremony and then changed into a slightly lower wedge sandal for the reception. The wedge gave me a little height (MH is 6′5 so height was a must) but was comfy enough for a million pictures and dancing.

I love Taryn Rose! And those wedges are sooo cute! I was just on HauteLook.com and these wedges are the main picture for their sale on August 4th, so I’m guessing they will be featured in the sale, up to 75% off! Take a look, this site is awesome! http://www.hautelook.com

@MagPie518 and @psu01 and @KateMW and @Miss Espresso: I nver thought of a wedged flip flop, but that could definitely work. I’ll be on the hunt for one in gold now. Thanks guys!

@Austin: You rock! I just signed up and saw that the sale is next week so hopefully I’ll score a pair at a discounted price! At least i can try them on then and see if they are comfy or not. :)

HauteLook will have them at least 50% off…I would suggest signing on early, (the sales start at 8am pst), to make sure you grab a pair before they’re all sold out…just remember when you return something at HauteLook, it’s store credit only, so make sure you really want them before you buy them!

@casablancabride: Good point - I never even thought about that slapping noise. I think I’ll have to try a few pairs of shoes (wedges and wedged flip flops) and just see what works and isn’t loud

@Austin: Thanks for the heads up! I’ll be sure to sign up early :)

I got my wedding flip flops from Tracey Asai designs (http://www.traceyasai.citymax.com/index.html) and loooooved them! They were affordable and perfect since I almost always wear flip flops and no one could see them under my dress. I’d check the website out if you end up going with flip flops!

I am a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding and her FMIL but all the bridesmaids the most adorable slippers grey for us and ivory for my cousin. We are going to change into them after the ceremony and pics. We are totally going to take a group shot of us wearing them. Go try them on because no matter what there is going to be a breaking in time. Reef’s are comfy but you do have to break them in a little.

I like the Taryn Rose flat and the Taryn Rose braided wedge. The flip flops are cute but I don’t really like them for what you’re looking for.

Wedged flip flops would be cute too.

As tempting as it might be because of the price tag, DO NOT get those reefs. I own several pairs of standard reefs (with the black foam sole) and they are all comfy, but these metallic ones don’t have good arch support and what’s more, your feet SLIDE AROUND in them like crazy. When I wear these, toes are always cramped from trying to hang onto the shoes the whole time they are on my feet. you can find better (and cuter!) flip-flops like the rochas.

if you’re gonna go with flipflops… i HIGHLY suggest you just go all the way and get rainbows! they are amazing quality and have so much support for your feet… it almost feels like you’re walking on clouds! super good quality stuff. try it out!

I will warn you that I sprained my arch wearing flip flops last weekend. If you have a low arch or weak arch (like I do - after they feel from years of ballet), flip flops are the devil because they provide NO support!

- I would get flops with arch support like these. Or a good wedge or flat with some support - because taking off your heels and walking on the hard ground will STILL be painful!

I love the Taryn Rose patent wedges! I don’t know which superfeet you bought, but they make some for high heels and for flats as well (it’s the 3/4 length ones). I have a pair of them that I have yet to try, but I wear them in my running shoes and I love those!
