I’ve always wanted a winter wedding. That is, until I saw a summer wedding in my hometown. Growing up in a small town in the mountains of Colorado, there are limited choices as to where you can tie the knot. Most summer brides opt for an outdoor wedding either on the mountain or somewhere special to the couple within the Vail valley.
So when I say people get married on the mountain, I mean LITERALLY the top of the mountain…
I admit I’ve never seen this:

I’m not sure how flattering ski boots would be with my dress. I think I need a little heel and I’m pretty sure ski boots only come in flats. Would be kinda fun though… hmm.
Instead, the mountain weddings in Colorado are usually more like this:

Pretty breathtaking. But I’m a little on the clumsy side, and knowing me, I’d fall off the chairlift in a wedding dress on the way up the mountain. Not exactly what I pictured for our wedding. Actually, my brother and sister in-law were married in the summer just a few blocks away from our childhood home (pictured above). I loved the mountain backdrop and I’ve seriously reconsidered a summer wedding sooo many times.
Although I love so much about summer weddings, there’s something about a winter wedding that just screams romance. The snow, candlelight, warm fires, and so much more. Not to mention, it’s a great time to just snuggle inside and enjoy the company of guests and family that will be visiting. We’re not doing the Christmas theme, or Valentine’s theme, or snowflake theme. We just want a winter wedding centered around romance.
Any other winter brides out there?! Do share!
