Mrs. Sundae, Chicago/Lake Geneva, WIAge and Occupation: 28, Knowledge ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Investment AdvisorEngagement Date: July 20, 2007Wedding Date: September 2008Blogging Since: February 5, 2008Venue: The Abbey ResortAbout Me: It’s hard to believe that by the time Mr. Sundae and I get married we will have been together for almost ten years. When we first met in college we split dollar pitchers and now we share the mortgage payments. Despite our love for the city we are looking forward to tying the knot in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
It’s been a whirlwind of wedding activity these days. I feel like as soon as we hit the 3 month mark someone pressed “fast forward,” and I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants ever since! Part of the activity included a most lovely shower two weeks ago. I don’t have all the pictures from the hostesses quite yet (cough* get on with it! *cough) but in the meantime, I can share the most well planned present in the history of presents.
Mrs. Daffodil, San Francisco/Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 26, Nonprofit Strategy ConsultantFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Resident PhysicianEngagement Date: December 29, 2006Wedding Date: May, 2008Blogging Since: August, 2007Venue: Church w/ floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Valley; Westin in downtown LAAbout Me: I moved around a lot growing up, but consider myself a Southerner at heart. I love scrapbooking, dancing, doggies, and diet coke. I am all about personalizing everything and hence, I'm a DIY bride who is just loving the entire wedding planning process! Mr. Daffodil and I met in our college fellowship group and were "just friends" for three years before we started dating. We've been together for four years now and can't wait to get married in sunny SoCal, Mr. Daffodil's hometown.
The rehearsal day is, after all, the first time you will see your entire wedding party together… and more importantly, the last time you will see your fiance before you guys take the plunge! What a great excuse to buy a pretty little dress! I wanted something cute, light, yet would convey “bridal”. These were the candidates in the running…
Miss Peacock, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 26, PhD StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Internet WhizEngagement Date: December 5, 2006Wedding Date: September, 2008Blogging Since: December 13, 2007Venue: St. Clement Church, Cafe Brauer (or a big church wedding and a fancy party at a cafe in Lincoln Park.About Me: I am a grad student with a secret obsession for all things wedding related. I also love to read, travel, drink champagne and go for walks with our dog, Maisy, and Mr. Peacock. We are planning our very vintage wedding in the greatest city in the world, our hometown of Chicago. I am so proud to be a Bee!
I surprised my bridesmaids a few weeks ago with a trip to the 1154 Lill Studio in Lincoln Park to make custom handbags as their bridesmaid gift. I was able to keep it on the DL until they arrived, which was no small feat, and treated them to a little champagne, cheese and these amazing key lime tarts. I gave each ’maid a gift certificate to cover the cost of a Grace plus tax and let them go to town!
The LP store is their flagship store, so there were two floors of custom bag goodness.
Mrs. Espresso, Corona/Big BearAge and Occupation: 23, Community Services SpecialistFiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Maintenance TechnicianEngagement Date: December 21, 2007Wedding Date: October, 2008Blogging Since: June 25, 2008Venue: Outside a rustic b&b in Big Bear LakeAbout Me: I'm a lover of all things good: coffee, music, travel, rain, and of course- my handsome fiance! I'm a full believer in the "Life is Short," mantra - and therefore, eat lots of dark chocolate. I'm a Geographer by degree and nerd by choice. I cook to the sound of French and Portuguese music even though I speak neither. I love road trips, camping, hiking, and capturing life through the lens of my camera. Take me to Anthropologie and I may never leave. I'm a sucker for pretty packaging, bargain finds, and old movies. Mr. Espresso and I are high school sweethearts and I am so blessed to be this amazing man's future wife.
For as long as I’ve been thinking about them, I’ve wanted long instead of round tables. I like them. I think they’re different, and I like the family style eating associated with them. But now I’m unsure. Our caterer said she thinks our guests’ knees will be hitting each other with the long tables. I don’t want that… but then what if she’s wrong? I’ve never been to a wedding with long tables, but I’ve seen plenty of pictures of ones that have. I also have never heard anyone complain of about this problem.
This would be my ideal look. But we can’t afford to purchase 160 different types of chairs, nor do we have the room for them. I like the simplicity and overall look of these tables and chairs though.
Mrs. Gingerbread, VancouverAge and Occupation: 32, PsychologistFiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Software EngineerEngagement Date: Sometime in the fall of 2004Wedding Date: July, 2008Blogging Since: March 24, 2008Venue: Rainforest wedding, beachfront restaurant receptionAbout Me: I recently moved to Canada from Southern California. Trying to plan a wedding in a new city, not to mention a new country, is tough, but the fact that we can get legally married here more than makes up for it! The wedding will be an opportunity for most of our family and friends to see our new city for the first time so it will be both a wedding and a reunion. Besides my future wife, I am also madly in love with a good bargain, Swedish pastries, Tivo, and my two dogs and calico cat (in no particular order).
Sorry to leave you hanging, Hive. I know I promised more pictures and recaps, but I’ve been in a post-wedding fog. All the joy, love, and excitement have rendered me speechless! I’m trying to snap out of it though, because I have so much that I want to share with you. Part of the problem is figuring out where to even begin, so I think I’ll start some place easy with the hopes that this will jump start me back into my old posting frenzied ways. How about where I left off as I was running out the door to meet with our officiant lunch and then to our rehearsal?
One thing that I am really grateful for was having an officiant who knew what she was doing. Her calmness, focus and understanding of us as people really put me at ease. As luck would have it, her hotel upgraded her to a suite so she suggested that rather than go out for lunch, we stay in and order room service. As soon as we entered her room all of the wedding stress melted away. I felt like I was on the moving walkway at the airport. No point in trying to fling myself off the moving walkway to go mess with some wedding detail that was just all wrong. At the end of the walkway is the wedding and the best thing I could do was just go with the flow and enjoy myself. Hey, the moving walkway is actually pretty fun! Read more…
Mrs. Lovebird, New York/CancunAge and Occupation: 25, AttorneyFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentEngagement Date: September 22, 2006Wedding Date: July, 2008Venue: Dreams Cancun Resort & SpaAbout Me: Born and raised New Yorker planning a destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico and a traditional Chinese banquet in New York City. Got proposed to in Cancun, so it’s only fitting we are going back to get married. I love trivia, board games, bargain shopping, asian dramas and eating yummy food!
I thought I’d share this with the hive cuz I know how much you ladies love boobies. I just got a call from Mr. Lovebird who basically surfs the web all day looking for bargains when he’s not studying his medical books. He told me there was a deal going on for the Natural Bra and I bought four of those babies at GraveyardMall for $4.99 each!
Yea, I know I don’t need them for our wedding since it has already passed, but I bought four of these babies a few years back and they were quite handy when I used them for my TTD in NYC. Can you say, “Holy Boobage, Batman!” Read more…
Mrs. Pinot Noir, New York/Napa ValleyAge and Occupation: 24, Health EducatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Market ResearcherEngagement Date: November 10, 2007Wedding Date: October, 2008Blogging Since: June 25, 2008Venue: Auberge du SoleilAbout Me: I am a Minnesota raised, NYC transplant planning a destination wedding in Napa. I'm balancing my love for the environment and my hubby-to-be's love for tradition to create our "green wedding in disguise." Our wedding will include local food and wine, antique touches and lots of love and laughter. When wedding planning isn't taking up my free time (and money) I love to read, cook, workout, watch baseball and travel! Follow along in my adventure as I attempt to plan an eco-friendly and socially responsible wedding (with eco-oblivious Mr. Pinot Noir).
Mr. Pinot Noir and I drove to Fairfield, Connecticut last month for the 2008 Fairfield County Irish Festival to search for his wedding ring! As you may remember, Mr. Pinot Noir and his brothers will be wearing their family kilt for the wedding. He wanted a Celtic two-tone, open knot wedding ring and found a vendor online from Massachusetts who would be at the festival, so we decided to make the drive up.
Mrs. Toucan, BostonAge and Occupation: 25, Full-time Research Assistant, Part-time Graduate StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, ActuaryEngagement Date: February 18, 2007Wedding Date: June 7, 2008Blogging Since: November 07, 2007Venue: St. Catherine of Genoa, Jin Asian Cuisine RestaurantAbout Me: I’m a Gemini to the extreme. On one side, I’m a girly girl. I read countless bridal and fashion magazines, and have an obsession with keeping up with the latest Hollywood gossip. On the other side, I’m a sports fanatic. Despite being a full-time bride-to be, full-time research assistant, and part-time student, I’m also a full-time Red Sox fan from spring training to October, and a full-time Patriots fan from mini-camp to February. I devote almost as much time researching my for fantasy football team as researching for our wedding!
After almost 2 months of married bliss, Mr. Toucan is still not used to wearing his wedding ring! I pretend to get mad, and jokingly say he’s “trying to look like a single guy” again! His reaction is so cute, though. He gets pretty upset with himself for forgetting! So, the past week, after he forgot to wear his ring 3 of the 4 days, I made him a sign and hung it up at the door.So far, he hasn’t forgotten to wear it since!
How good is your spouse (or you!) at remembering to wear the wedding ring?

My last post on the bridal shoot was already ridiculously long, so I thought I would split it up and do a little “behind the scenes” coverage for you on what doing a bridal shoot in Rome is really like. If you thought it was all glitz and glam, those dreams are about to be dashed, my friend.
We spent all of our money getting from Washington state to Rome, so I ended up walking from place to place in my dress instead of riding in a taxi. I got a lot of strange looks and a lot of whistles.
