Lounge Love

August 1st, 2008 @ 4:25 pm by Mrs. Pomegranate

Lounge areas at weddings have become particularly trendy, and allow for some really chic ways to incorporate your wedding palette into a nice relaxing area for your guests to chill during your reception. I absolutely LOVE this idea! In fact, Mrs. Lime had a fabulous lounge area at her wedding:

The Lime Lounge in action on Mrs. Lime’s wedding day. Looks pretty cozy, right?

However, I wasn’t sure that renting the lounge furniture would be in our budget - especially if you include the decorations for said furniture! I looked to our venue to see if the site itself had any fixins that would accommodate my strong desire to lounge at our wedding.

What’s this I spy? A teak bench! Are there more? See if you can spot them!

There so happens to be SEVEN of these teak benches surrounding the Tasting Room patio! I love the idea of our guests lounging and mingling on these benches while snuggled up in some cute pillows. My excitement grew when I discovered the perfect black and white striped large lumbar pillows at Ikea. To boot, Ikea had these SVEJE black and white striped rugs that I purchased to place in front of the doors for both the Tasting Room Dance Floor and the Tasting Room Bar. Since the pillows were on sale, I wasn’t able to find 7 of them - so I improvised by sewing a few green pillows to alternate amongst the benches. Voila! Instant lounge!

Are any of you having a lounge area at your wedding reception?

Yes! We are! We are having it out by the poolside..it’s going to look very chic! We are also adding lighting to add to the look. I am going to have my gramma make some fun pillows for the lounge furniture. I think it will be fun! I haven’t been to a wedding with this yet so i think our guest will be in awe. :)

hahaha… we’re doing the same exact thing! Was totallying jonesing for a loung area for the wedding but didn’t want to shell out the big bucks… We also have 3 areas of wooden benches/tables that we’re going to try to doll up with pillows to look like a lounge! Love it!!

We are hping too. I just bought 5 dark brown wicker (sp?) boxes that are meant for storage or maybe seating in a small area. I was thinking I could use them as cube chairs and maybe get a bench with pillows. Very good sleuthing on your part to find those benches, it will look awesome! :)

My mom bought that same fabric just in case she was going to have to make table runners! Love it!! Thankfully the place we are renting our chair covers from loved the table runner idea and now have them as part of their inventory (probably costs a tad more but now i don’t have to find a home for 25 table runners after the wedding!) Love the lounge idea!

@bugaboo: Those type of ottomons would work great with those square floor pillows on top! I love that idea.

@thompsoc75: That’s awesome that your rental place was willing to work with you!
