Will You Marry Me, Mr. Pineapple?

August 4th, 2008 @ 5:59 pm by Mrs. Pineapple

One year ago today, at 8:24pm Mr. Pineapple took me to Bow Bridge in Central Park and asked me to marry him. Everyone told me the engagement would fly by, I didn’t believe them. Until today, it’s been an entire year. Oh my goodness.

Mr. P and I spent the weekend moving to Clyde, PA. We have set up our first home in an old farm house on 100 acres. The puppy thinks it is wonderful and I am enjoying make our home uniquely ours. We have been very busy, but I wanted to do something nice and funny to celebrate this once ever milestone with Mr. P.

I really wanted to get Mr. P a pair of rose gold cuff links to match my ring. Unfortunately, with all the crazy last minute packing and job hunting, I lost track of time and didn’t order them. So instead, I decided to give him something stereotypically “wifey,” socks and t-shirts. (I also threw in a Play Station game so he has something to do until they figure out how to get HD cable and internet into the woods.) I found some copper wrapping paper and a card that quotes his favorite show, Lost, “all we really need to survive is one person who truly loves us.”

I am going to try to arrange some sort of dinner and hopefully propose to him at 8:24 tonight. Hopefully this poorly planned engage-aversary will still be sweet and touching.

Did you plan anything for your fiance on the anniversary of your engagement?

oh that’s soo sweet! That’s a great idea!
I had been planning to “surprise” propose to my fiance immediately after he popped the question to me (I knew it was coming), but the wood ring I had planned to give him wasn’t ready yet - so I “proposed” to him a month later after he asked me. I didn’t realize how hard it is! Even when you know they’ll say yes (and even when you know you’re getting married!). I think it has something to do with that “perfect moment” mumbo jumbo.
AWESOME pad, btw!! That’s totally killer. That’s the kind of place you could even -host- a wedding at!

I love that house! We definitely celebrated our engage-aversary. The wedding was still nine months away at that point, so we needed a little celebration.

Ooops I don’t know why I worded it quite how I did, but we are just renting so it isn’t quite “ours.” We have been painting and cleaning and fixer-upping for the last month so it surely feel likes ours.

Instead of trying to figure out a slick way to get Mr. P to a restaurant without him catching on, I took his wrapped present out into the field on the farm. He spotted it and when we went to check out what it was ans he realized it was a gift I began to cry. Over socks. haha

@sammijo: you’re story is very much like ours, we too are getting married on the 18th!

@Miss Sweet Tea: Penny actually, so close. (well at least that is according to the internet, i really don’t know.) :)

It doesn’t matter that you’re renting, it’s your home, your first home… so it’s your’s! Congratulations… and what a fun way to celebrate the anniversary of your engagement. We were on our honeymoon when our’s came around.
