About Mrs. Hydrangea

Zen Bride

August 4th, 2008 @ 12:45 pm by Mrs. Hydrangea

I always admired that Mrs. Magnolia did something active on the morning of her wedding. Now, seeing that I am no runner, when I came across an email from the W Hotel Dallas about their Saturday morning yoga sessions (FREE, by the way) through September 27th, it sparked an idea.

(Image from here)

Each session is from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, they provide the mats, and it is held next to their pool on the 16th floor. I know that I won’t be sleeping in that morning, and I know, after how nervous I was for my shower and bachelorette, that I will definitely need something to calm me down a bit on the big day. Since all of my bridesmaids and I will be staying at the hotel the night before the wedding, we decided that we’d all get up and go to the yoga session, then head down for some yummy breakfast before we take our showers and begin our hair and makeup for the wedding.

I’m so happy that this all worked out the way it did, because I think that the yoga will really be beneficial for me the entire day through.

For any of you Dallas brides who want to attend one of The W’s yoga sessions, you can get more information here.

Are any of you doing something unique the morning of your weddings to calm your nerves and get the day started?

Since I have to start my hair and makeup at 5:45 am (ouch!) I won’t be able to do anything early, but Mr. PN has organized a “5K Fun Run with the Groom” at 6am on the morning on the wedding. He is inviting any guests to join him for the run :)

One of my favorite wedding events ever was a morning yoga session in the bridal suite at one of my girlfriend’s weddings. One of our friends is a manager at a Yoga Studio so I’m going to ask her to provide a class the morning of my wedding for the bridesmaids and some of my close female friends and family. It was the best way to get everyone together and to calm the bride before the day began. I hope this also works for me!

I’m planning on doing yoga before the ceremony. Whether I’ll go to a studio or just do it in the hotel room with a DVD hasn’t been decided yet, but yoga always calms my nerves!

Hey, thanks for the info! i’ve been going to free yoga at the nasher garden lately (normally on Thursday evenings)… this would also be lots of fun to try!

Ooh I love the idea of doing some yoga on the wedding morning! I’ll have to check and see if my hotel has something like that!

This is a great idea! I had planned to go to a yoga class the morning of my wedding, but since I had to be up and ready to go at 7am for the salon, there wasn’t any time. However, I know my yoga training helped me throughout the whole day to remain calm, present and centered. I think doing something like this can really start your big day off right! :)

That is such a great idea! I’m hoping to go for a run, although I need to work on my time line to see how possible it will be :)
