About candycorn

That’s right, I’m wearing my glasses for our wedding and so is Mr. Candy Corn! I’ve worn glasses for the greater portion of my life and have no complaints. I know a lot of brides-to-be struggle with the notion of wearing glasses and think it’s more formal to go without, but I just can’t justify having my glasses be a part of my face 364 days out of the year, but not for our wedding day. I feel most confident when I’m wearing glasses, and I’d like to be able to see Mr. Candy Corn standing at the end of the aisle without having to poke foreign objects in my eyes that I’m not used to (I’ve never worn contacts, so I’d be a watery mess).

Proof that glasses can be a stylish bridal accessory:

Mr. & Mrs. Gummi Bear both successfully rocked specs as well!!

I totally have a crush on my man and his glasses (which were pretty destroyed in his car accident this weekend, but thank goodness our optician saved the day and fixed them for free!).

I just realized I’m not wearing my glasses in my Weddingbee photo, so here’s some silly Miss Candy Corn glasses action for your viewing pleasure.

Are there any other glasses-wearing brides out there?

I not a glasses-wearing bride, but I adore my fiance’s glasses! He talked about getting laser eye surgery for a while but I kept telling him how much I love him in his glasses and I think I’ve talked him out of it - he’s now thinking about getting somewhat funkier glasses before the wedding!

I’m totally wearing my glasses for the weddin’! Mostly for the same reasons you are (daily wear, don’t want to wear contacts that I’ve never worn), but also - my Mr. Pants LOVES them! He’s one of those “glasses are sexy” guys. :)

I had an awful experience in high school - I was getting my senior pictures taken and the photographer was SO mean about the fact that I didn’t want to take off my glasses. He kept making me turn my head in funny directions so that he wouldn’t get a glare in the picture.

It was embarassing and frustrating, and I got contacts almost immediately afterwards. I wear glasses about 4 days a week and contacts 3, so hubby is used to me either way, and on our wedding day I have never felt more beautiful.

I think it’s all about what you’re most comfortable with! If people had never seen me in contacts, I would have definitely worn my glasses.

We both have worn contacts for years and years so we wore them for our wedding. We do, however, have a glorious uber geeky pic of us in our glasses - we had just arrived in Tahiti for our honeymoon and were adorned with leis. (Long flights and contacts don’t mix.)

Great pics - esp love the first one!

So, I posted about this a leeetle while ago and since then went to the eye doc to check out the possibility of contacts. Well, day two of wearing them I lost the one in my right eye. I put it in and my eye was hurting all day. Eventually I decided to take them out and when I went to get the one out of my right eye it was missing! I thought maybe it fell out from my rubbing. But my eye was still killing me. I went to another bathroom with better lighting and found it. It was folded in half and stuck waaaaaay up in my eyelid! Ouch!!!

Needless to say, I haven’t put them back in. I still plan on giving them a serious go. 1. Because I still feel like myself sans glasses since I’ve only been wearing them a year and 2. because glasses get in the way of my camera view finder when I am working.

I definitely think brides look hot in glasses and you will be no exception!

I’m putting mine on halfway through the wedding, when my contacts will start bothering me. (I think Miss Kiwi might have done this too?) I wish my mom would wear glasses, but she refuses too. She looks so much better and more like herself with them!

My FI and I are also wearing our glasses. Same reasons–I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 2 and with the exception of one year in junior high, I’ve never worn contacts. These are just part of my face. ;)

I’m glad to see posts like this! :)

Hey! Thanks so much for posting one of my photos!

Stephanie( the bride with glasses) and I discussed everything from glare to focusing issues. I can definitely say her bridal sitting was great practice for her wedding day. The only frustrating thing we came across during the bridals was that her glasses wanted to slide down the bridge of her nose, making the top rim of the glasses hide her eyes a bit. So, on her wedding day we made sure to look for this. Also, as I said, the bridals were great practice, she learned what angles work best for “working the glasses.”

You should look like YOU on your wedding day! I don’t wear glasses, but you guys kind of make me wish I do! Oh, and I think my hubby is extra cute when he opts for his frames over contacts!

Mr. ST and I joke our kids will be moles because their eyes will be useless x2. We are both really nearsighted, but have worn contacts for years so we’ll be wearing them for the wedding. Brides in glasses are super cute, though! Love that last pic of you!

Being able to SEE is hot. Plus, although it’s possibly hard to identify when you’re the one not wearing glasses, your eyes (and your whole facial expression, really) look different when you simply can’t focus on anything. It’s not that attractive. Really. You might think that it is, just because you have some idea the glasses make you look nerdy, but a vacuous, completely unfocused expression makes you look worse. As someone who used to wear glasses, and is now old enough to look back at the photos with some degree of honesty, it’s pretty clear to me. I prefer myself looking a little nerdy to myself looking brainless.

@Miss Pineapple: I’ve had that happen with my contacts too - it’s such an oogy, uncomfortable feeling. I wore contacts for 3.5 years and only had it happen twice, though, so don’t be afraid to try again!

I wear glasses all day, every day, and I’ll be wearing them when we get married. They’re part of who I am and how I look, so why change that for our wedding?

Oh, my God! I feel so understood!!! I love my glasses and my fiancé can’t see a raging bull coming towards him without his, so we are certainly gonna wear ours! I was thinking of making a special one with swarovski on the side! Mom has one she wears for parties and events and it is so stylish! :-D

I’m so happy you posted this. I have worn glasses since I was 6. The first time I got married I didn’t wear my glasses and I couldn’t see a thing all day(which may have been a good thing because I couldn’t see the huge mistake I was making:0) but this time I want to see everything. Plus I just don’t look like myself without my glasses. It’s really irritating when people say that wearing glasses isn’t elegant. Well, neither is tripping up the aisle.

My fiance is a hot glasses wearing dude and I hope that he totally rocks his specs for the wedding! As of right now, he is still unsure but he is anti contacts, so unless he doesn’t want to see me until I am literally inches from his face I think he’ll wear them. YAY! I think brides in glasses are hot too, actually I am jealous that I don’t need them! Silly huh?

my contact lens use has dwindled to when I’m dressing up, like it’s part of the makeup (I don’t ordinarily wear any) and a couple of weeks ago, I was getting ready for a wedding and opened up the lens case which had been untouched since the last wedding I attended in October, and found that it was not dried out as expected (in which case I’d just rehydrate them,) but is was growing a culture! there was definitely pink bathtub mold and more!

luckily, I do like my glasses. they are dark subtly purple plastic, and I think of them as grape candy.

I wore my glasses for my wedding, and I worried about it — but once we saw the pictures, I knew it was the best choice: I wouldn’t have been *me* without them.

So far, I’m thinking of keeping the glasses. I’ve never worn contacts either, and although I have enough time to get used to them if I start soon, I’m not sure that I want to. I might get a pretty new pair of glasses for the occasion instead :)

You look fab with glasses! I, on the other hand, feel SO self-conscious when I wear my glasses….. and they always seem to fog up, haha. I’ll be wearing my contacts on the wedding day!

I have 20/20 vision… so, no. But Mr. Radish is blind as a bat and is never without glasses. He thinks he looks weird in contacts (and he kinda does, honestly). I told him that he looked like a Lenscrafters model in our wedding pictures!

I say that if you are comfortable with how you look in glasses, there is no need to pretend to be someone you’re not just for your wedding. Plus Mr. CC loves you the way you are and I’m sure that includes your adorable specs.

I think Mrs. Caterpillar (an older Bee) also wore glasses for her wedding and looked super cute.

I was toying with the same question so I asked my FI. He has only known me wearing glasses and said “DEFINITELY wear them! They ARE who you are.” He’s a freak. He even wants me to wear them to bed because that’s how he sees me all the time and without them……well….its like being with a stranger. LOL ok, I’ll stop but seriously girls….wear the things!

I’m so happy you posted this. I was having anxiety about wearing contacts for my wedding in March b/c I’ve worn glasses for almost everyday since 2nd grade! I know I’ll be more comfortable with glasses but thought people would think it was weird. I guess not!

Hi. I am new to the blog - in fact I found this article when I searched “brides wearing glasses”. I have been wearing glasses for years and am completely undecided on what to do for my wedding in Dec.

I alos thought people would think I look ugly if I wore them but then the people I ask say I would not look like me without them.

So I am thinking of getting little pink ones to match and then wearing them proudly. I can have pics taken with them on and off.

Are then any brides who have got pics of them on their big day - in glasses?
