Getaway Decor

August 6th, 2008 @ 6:48 pm by Mrs. Sundae

Remember our getaway boat? Well, seeing as how I am not one to let an opportunity to decorate pass me by, I wanted a “Just Married” sign to hang off the back of the boat. When I saw the idea to use these letters in Modern Bride, I knew they would fit the bill - cute, made of wallpaper so slightly waterproof, and soft so they won’t scratch the boat:

It’s $2.95 per letter but I also had a coupon, so this weekend we went and bought all the components to make the sign for under $30. Here is a very bad picture of the letters, rather pathetically laid out on our unmade bed (Mama Sundae, avert your eyes):

I promise to share a better version when they’re actually strung on the ribbon, but I am so excited about them!

Are you using a “Just Married” sign to hang on some sort of getaway mobile?

Very, very cute! The different patterns are to die for… I love how many things you can do with letters - this struck my fancy on the Southern Weddings blog: http://www.swsmag.net/blog/2008/7/25/mega-post-details-link-love-etc.html
F-I-N-A-L-L-Y! How cute is that! I don’t know how much my fiance would appreciate that though :)

Those are adorable!

Our getaway car was a tiny afterthought - we didn’t even arrange anything, so our groomsmen took it upon themselves to decorate on of their cars (a rental, no less) with whipped cream… Yeah, that doesn’t look so good after a couple of minutes! But it was super funny, because it said things like “Boom boom room” and whatnot.

So cute! i can’t even take it! We didn’t have any car decorations because our reception venue was attached to the hotel where our honeymoon suite was located. My sister-in-law did sneak away to scatter rose petals in our room for us, and she even had the caterers leave a couple of pieces of cake on the table!
